Chapter 57 Unaware
After Lu Xiwen finished speaking, he took the cup from Pei Wu's hand, glanced at it, and drank it all.
Even if Pei Wu was stupid, he would know that Lu Xiwen was helping him vent his anger.
This feeling is different from before.
In the past, the two of them were always testing each other, and even when they did something for each other, they were always subtle. But now that Lu Xiwen said he wanted to start a relationship and wanted a formal commitment, these things that were out in the open were like sprinkles of sugar on the right amount of sugar. Pei Wu could smell a sweet fragrance in the air just by watching quietly.
"I'd like to take a shower," Pei Wu said. "I'm afraid I'll have to borrow Mr. Lu's room."
Lu Xi readily agreed, saying, "I can certainly fulfill Assistant Pei's small request."
Pei Wu took a hot shower as she wished.
After strenuous exercise, her legs gradually went from feeling tired to aching. By the time Pei Wu dried her hair and came out, she didn't want to move anymore.
Lu Xiwen was sitting on the edge of the bed playing on his phone when he heard the noise. He looked up, was startled at first, and a hidden emotion flashed in his eyes. Then he noticed that Pei Wu's eyelids were drooping.
"Did you get injured while playing football?"
"No." Pei Wu sat down next to him and shook her head. "Sleepy."
"Go to sleep if you're tired." Lu Xiwen pulled the blanket back over her head.
Pei Wu didn't stand on ceremony and lay down comfortably. The sheets and blankets were brought separately by Lu Xiwen and had a familiar scent, just like in Yunlu Bay.
Pei Wu, usually so vigilant, quickly regained his composure and began to breathe evenly.
Lu Xi felt his heart swell with a certain emotion.
He bent down, brushed aside Pei Wu's stray hairs, and touched his forehead; he seemed to have a slight fever.
Pei Wu was fed the medicine while half-asleep. She didn't refuse and complied, then continued to sleep.
Lu Xiwen closed the door, and Kuang Junmeng greeted him as soon as he went downstairs.
He glanced behind Lu Xiwen: "Where's Assistant Pei?"
"I'm tired, I'm going to sleep." Lu Xiwen's tone was unpleasant.
Kuang Junmeng: "Dai Wei himself was scared and just drove away. He's not in your way."
Anyone targeted by Lu Xiwen is afraid.
Lu Xiwen said, "You should avoid associating with people like this. He's playing football and he can't help but keep peeking at Guan Yan."
Kuang Junmeng's eyes widened: "Huh?"
Lu Xiwen: "You really can't see?"
Kuang Junmeng pondered for a moment, seemingly recalling some details, and immediately revealed a disgusted expression as if he had swallowed a fly.
To put it bluntly, even if Dai Wei immediately differentiated three times, and his pheromones and looks improved by two levels, he still wouldn't be a good match for Guan Yan.
Guan Yan was still teasing Lu Xiwen: "You have top-tier, limitless energy, but Pei Wu is a Beta. Anyone who can keep up with your pace is a god. Don't be too harsh on her."
Lu Xiwen thought he was going to retort, but to his surprise, he nodded seriously: "Yes, you're right."
Lu Xiwen also noticed that Pei Wu had been feeling tired and sleepy lately. Chang Rong's workload was indeed quite heavy, not to mention that Pei Wu was not only his assistant but also in charge of several projects.
Pei Wu had just opened her eyes when Lu Xiwen came in after she had fallen asleep.
The room was dark, but the familiar, crisp scent made Pei Wu suddenly feel very sad.
This was an emotion rarely seen in his well-ordered life, like a sentimental poet moved to tears by the sunset.
That's utterly absurd.
"It's time to eat." Lu Xi said, and Pei Wu felt the side of the bed sink a little.
"Have you got a meal yet?"
"No, I'll wait for you."
Pei Wu struggled to sit up, but before she could even settle in, she fell into Lu Xiwen's arms. Lu Xiwen, with his excellent night vision, easily caught her. He was flattered by Pei Wu's straightforwardness and asked, "What's wrong?"
“I can’t quite put my finger on it.” Pei Wu let out a deep breath. “Lu Xiwen, I feel like I’m being swallowed up by some kind of extreme sadness.”
"Why?"
"have no idea……"
Pei Wu couldn't say anything, and Lu Xiwen was even less able to guess, but he patted Pei Wu's shoulder firmly and said in a deep voice, "Whatever, I can protect you."
Pei Wu believed it instantly, and he made a promise: "I will protect you too."
Pei Wu stood up with Lu Xiwen's help. She felt her mind was clear, but her body was still tired, especially her legs. Fortunately, she had moved to an apartment building with an elevator. In the old neighborhood, it was difficult to even climb the stairs.
As Pei Wu passed by, Lu Xiwen's nose suddenly twitched, and a very faint scent quickly dissipated in the air.
After washing up, Pei Wu and Lu Xiwen went downstairs together.
Guan Yan also came out of his room to rest. Kuang Junmeng had hired a professional chef who had prepared Chinese and Western food. The desserts filled three tables, and the drinks sizzled as they clinked together. The black smoke from the campfire drifted into the night.
They stayed here for three whole days.
It was raining continuously when we went back.
Lan Zhe followed Cao Guan and left first. Lu Xiwen drove, and Pei Wu leaned against the passenger seat. She could say a few words at first, but then she fell asleep.
Lu Xiwen briefly stopped the car and covered Pei Wu with his coat.
He felt really sorry for Pei Wu, and thought he would give her a long vacation as soon as he got back.
The fine, misty rain seemed to have thoroughly soaked Pei Wu's heart, and unnamed seeds quickly took root. He could even feel the suffocating sensation of the roots gradually entangling his heart. Before setting off, Pei Wu contacted Zhou Yu again to confirm that the full check-up would be in two days.
These past few days, with everything in a good place and under the right circumstances, Pei Wu had wanted to talk to Lu Xiwen about the aftereffects several times. However, he could clearly see that Lu Xiwen avoided the Omega who approached him, keeping a distant and polite distance with an indifferent expression.
Pei Wu struggled for a long time before finally realizing that he wasn't afraid of Lu Xiwen getting angry, but rather that Lu Xiwen would treat him like a stranger Omega.
The car jolted slightly, and Pei Wu let out a soft groan, shrinking further into Lu Xiwen's coat, revealing only half of his face, which was obscured by stray hairs. Fine rain swirled down from the car window, making him appear shockingly pale and frail.
It was late at night when they drove back to Yunlu Bay, and Pei Wu woke up as soon as the car stopped.
"Have we arrived yet?" he asked vaguely.
"Hmm." Lu Xiwen pushed open the door and went downstairs.
Noticing that Alpha seemed to be in a bad mood, the passenger door was opened and Lu Xiwen put his arm around Pei Wu's waist and knees.
Pei Wu wasn't fully awake yet, and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Pei Wu was carried upstairs by Lu Xiwen.
“Those bags…”
“I’ll sort it out.” Lu Xiwen’s steps were steady, and his words left no room for negotiation: “You can’t go on like this. I’ll give you a two-week leave.”
Pei Wu: "When?"
"Now."
“Not now.” After Pei Wu finished speaking, Lu Xiwen stopped and lowered his head. He quickly added, “At least let me go to the company tomorrow to hand over my work. The important points that need to be emphasized cannot be overlooked.”
This request was reasonable, and Lu Xiwen agreed.
Enveloped in his pheromones, Pei Wu's heart melted uncontrollably. He didn't even realize that his dependence on Lu Xiwen had increased dramatically, and that he could now fully sense Lu Xiwen's pheromones.
