Chapter 2 Are you stupid?

Chapter 2 Are you stupid?

Pei Wu initially applied for the job of being Lu Xiwen's personal assistant.

The only problem was that his original work assistant, Lan Zhe, was not around. In order to demonstrate his value, Pei Wu helped handle a few tricky matters, which earned him Lu Xiwen's favor, leading to a business trip and today's invitation to entertain President Zhang.

If one day I could become a special assistant, Pei Wu would be happy no matter how tired I was.

"Back to your home?" Pei Wu asked.

Lu Xiwen: "Hmm."

In fact, it doesn't matter whether top-tier Alphas eat or not, as their physical functions are always at their peak. Pei Wu usually attends banquets with Lu Xiwen, so he is rarely seen touching his chopsticks. In the end, it's still the thick omelet he ate at the beginning of that day.

Pei Wu politely offered Lu Xiwen a taste of his cooking. Perhaps it was the beautiful golden crust of the thick omelet that made Lu Xiwen so gracious. He didn't say it was bad, but he finished it all in one go. Pei Wu knew then that he was in for a treat.

Before getting into the car, Pei Wu sprayed a refreshing spray on the tip of his nose twice while facing away from Lu Xiwen. It was a natural product mixed with peppermint oil, and the coolness went straight to his head. He drove very steadily and arrived at "Yunlu Bay" where Lu Xiwen lived before dark.

Lu Xiwen's expression softened considerably after he entered. "I don't have any Jin Jun Mei tea here."

Pei Wu: "If you like, I'll have someone buy it and deliver it tomorrow."

"I don't want to eat Western food."

"Then let's have Chinese food."

Lu Xiwen, as if pampered and comfortable, with her fluffy tail held high and an incomparably noble air, gracefully went upstairs.

Pei Wu rolled up her sleeves, went into the kitchen, and opened the refrigerator.

Pei Wu still remembers the first time she saw this refrigerator; it was like it had been licked by a ghost, with nothing but mineral water. Now, it's been stuffed full by her aunt, with plenty of ingredients, so Pei Wu can do whatever she wants with it.

Clean the sea bass, pour oil into it and fry until the skin is slightly browned, then move it aside. Use the remaining oil to sauté garlic and chili until fragrant, then add boiling water and simmer for a few minutes. Once the broth turns white, add the clams that have been purged of sand, and simply season with salt and pepper. In another pot, dry-fry the pork belly until it releases its oil, then remove it. Add some tiger-skin peppers and tiger-skin eggs. Lu Xiwen doesn't like chicken eggs, so they have to be quail eggs. Finally, put them all into the stew pot. The seasonings should be more abundant. I left a bottle of Pei Wu's homemade soybean paste here, and adding two spoonfuls will make it taste even better.

Finally, stir-fry some vegetables and make a meatball soup, and that will be enough for them.

Pei Wu, wearing an apron, moved with ease. It wasn't that he was eager to be someone's servant, but rather that President Lu had given him far too much.

Pei Wu received a raise last month after becoming a full-time employee; it was three times her previous salary!

Although Lu Xiwen was extremely picky, he would pay the same price for things that were pleasing to the eye.

A bowl of delicious dessert, a bowl of pork bone soup with night-blooming cereus, and when Boss Lu is happy, he explodes with gold coins, which he then deposits into his own private account.

As a working person, who can refuse this?

Noticing the dark gaze, Pei Wu turned her head and saw Lu Xiwen standing at the door with his arms crossed.

Lu Xiwen changed into casual clothes, her gaze calm. "Who taught you to cook?"

"I practiced it myself," Pei Wu said. "There was a period when I was tired of eating takeout."

Lu Xi snorted, indicating that he understood. He naturally wouldn't help serve the dishes. He waited until Pei Wu had set out the bowls and chopsticks before taking his seat.

This wasn't the first time Pei Wu had eaten with her boss.

Lu Xiwen was raised with strict discipline, and only the slight clinking of bowls and chopsticks could be heard on the table. However, he ate quite quickly and didn't notice that he had just taken a bite of chili pepper, which quickly turned his lips bright red. Lu Xiwen frowned.

Pei Wu immediately got up to pour water.

"I want lemon water with ice."

Pei Wu: "Drinking cold drinks directly is bad for your stomach, how about making honey water instead?"

Lu Xiwen didn't like being contradicted: "I want iced lemonade."

Pei Wu had no choice but to comply.

After finishing his lemonade, Lu Xiwen had also finished eating. He put down his chopsticks and said, "You should go to the project team and discuss the collaboration with Banluo yourself, and coordinate the follow-up."

Pei Wu hesitated upon hearing this: "The team members are all fixed. Wouldn't it be inappropriate for me to suddenly join halfway through?"

"Are you stupid?" Lu Xiwen's face showed his familiar mockery. "Have they made any progress in all this time? I'm being merciful by not disbanding them on the spot. Today, Boss Zhang only agreed after you made him happy. The reason I sent you was so they could assist you, not so you would worry about whether they would steal the credit."

Pei Wu nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay, I'll remember."

After finishing her meal, Pei Wu put the dishes and chopsticks in the kitchen and washed them in a short while.

As I came out, I overheard Lu Xiwen saying, "These aunties will know how to handle this."

Pei Wu smiled and said, "Auntie won't be here until tomorrow, it's not good for her to stay overnight."

Lu Xiwen scoffed and continued flipping through the financial magazine in his hand. His every word and action was filled with contempt for this foolish world and foolish humans. Pei Wu was also amazed when she first met him. It seemed that as long as you made the slightest mistake, you could easily incur Lu Xiwen's disdain.

Perhaps this is what a top-tier Alpha is like, with a worldview that is beyond the comprehension of ordinary people.

"Mr. Lu, please get some rest. I'll head back now."

"Um."

After arriving home, Pei Wu tidied up briefly, took a quick shower, and fell asleep instantly.

The next day, after finishing her work at the company, Pei Wu went to the project department.

After explaining their purpose, the team member responsible for collaborating with Banluo immediately fell silent.

In fact, they knew it was Pei Wu's doing when they received the notification this morning, but the difference was too great. They had worked so hard for so long and hadn't even met with President Zhang. They didn't know what methods Pei Wu used to get the job done and get people involved. More importantly, President Lu had tacitly approved it. Wasn't this a slap in the face to these old guys?

The group leader, Ji Bin, had a grim expression ever since Pei Wu entered.

Finally, Ji Bin said with a forced smile, "Assistant Pei really knows how to handle things."

Pei Wu seemed oblivious to the other party's hostility, and smiled gently: "This is the result of everyone's joint efforts. I will report to President Lu truthfully after the work is completed."

The implication was that the credit belonged to everyone, and several people's eyes became friendly upon hearing this, but Ji Bin didn't buy it. He felt that Pei Wu was blatantly showing off.

Ji Bin was furious. His uncle was the deputy general manager of the branch company, and the cooperation with Banlu was a promise he made to get promoted. But Pei Wu interfered.

When he had dinner with his uncle that evening, Ji Bin complained about this matter.

His uncle clicked his tongue and said, "Why are you so stubborn? The fact that that guy surnamed Pei can be President Lu's assistant means he's destined to be a workaholic. Just treat him like a dog. Don't worry about how much he's contributed. Since your name is on the project team leader list, when it comes to document approval, I'll just say a few words and let Pei off the hook. The credit will still be yours, won't it?"

Ji Bin's eyes lit up as he listened, "President Lu won't find out, will he?"

"Who is President Lu? Does he care about these things?" Ji Bin's uncle sneered, "A mere personal assistant, look how scared you are. I think President Lu also looks down on the Pei family."

Ji Bin asked curiously, "How so?"

"I've seen President Lu nitpick at Pei more than once, saying this isn't good enough and that won't do. I doubt he'll last long. He's just a Beta after all. Don't take him to heart."

Ji Bin breathed a sigh of relief.

With Ji Bin "giving a heads-up," no matter what Pei Wu instructed in the group chat, the group members would act carelessly and procrastinate. After a few times, Pei Wu would understand what he meant.

"Thank you for your help, Assistant Pei. The more capable you are, the more you should do." Ji Bin waved to Pei Wu and left for the day.

Pei Wu didn't have the habit of constantly mentioning "Lu Xiwen." He knew that Lu Xiwen wasn't someone to rely on; you could only try your best to serve him. "Complaining" was a sign of incompetence, so Pei Wu couldn't say that his team members weren't cooperating. And if the collaboration failed, Lu Xiwen would deal with him after he finished dealing with the project team.

Pei Wu liked this job, and she had indeed gained a lot from the three months she spent with Lu Xiwen. The talent of a top-tier Alpha was admirable; he could think about problems and get to the heart of the matter with ease. Ji Bin alone was not enough to make Pei Wu give up.

He poured himself a cup of coffee and sat back down at his computer.
