Chapter 19 The Unspeakable Secret

"I understand what you mean. I'll leave you here. Take care in the future. Think carefully before you do something dangerous again, and make sure you are safe before doing something as dangerous as today."

Su Ying smiled slightly, "What danger could there be in the countryside? Don't worry, my fiancé will protect me."

"That's hard to say. You're so good-looking, there are all sorts of people in the countryside."

Su Ying continued to emphasize, "My fiancé will protect me."

The train police officer gave an awkward smile, realizing he'd gone too far with his words, "If I marry you, I won't have to suffer in the countryside, right?"

Su Ying looked at the man with unwavering determination. "I won't choose you. I already have someone in my heart. I'm already very satisfied that I was assigned to the same brigade as him during this rural assignment. As long as he's there, it doesn't matter where we go."

The train police officer gave a bitter smile. "I understand. Take care."

"Take care of yourself."

The two smiled at each other, and Su Ying boarded the train without looking back. The next train went directly to Guangzhou, a long journey, so she could get a good night's sleep.

Upon entering the fourth VIP room, Su Ying was immediately impressed by its cleanliness and tidiness; this VIP room was incomparable to the hard seat.

Not long ago, someone put their feet on the table, and just thinking about that scene makes me lose my appetite.

The private room was quite nice, clean and tidy, with two bunk beds, two tables and chairs. It was probably a dining area, and the room was spotless.

Su Ying thought to herself that you get what you pay for. Even if she had money, she couldn't buy a sleeper ticket. Being a capitalist's daughter was just annoying.

Su Ying thought to herself, "No wonder it's a soft sleeper that can only be purchased with a high-ranking cadre certificate. It's like two completely different worlds compared to the hard seats outside. It's like experiencing both ice and fire."

After transferring from Shanghai to Guangzhou, my back and buttocks ached after just two hours of sitting. It's no wonder it's a hard seat, rock hard.

Su Ying entered the private room, closed the door, and had her own private space.

very nice.

Hopefully, when we reach Guangzhou, she can have this small private room all to herself.

The ideal is beautiful, but the reality is harsh. She had just gotten out of bed and fallen asleep when someone knocked on the door.

Su Ying knew why the other person was knocking on the door, and reluctantly got out of bed to open it.

As soon as the door opened, a middle-aged man in his forties, dressed in military uniform, walked in. He was elegant and dignified.

The man was a little shocked to find himself in a private room with a young girl, but he accepted it with a slightly embarrassed gesture, pointing to the soft bed above her.

"My position is there."

Su Ying nodded. "Come in. I'm sleepy, I'll go to sleep first. Please make yourself at home."

Knowing that he was a soldier, she had an innate dependence on soldiers, and she could still fall asleep even if the door wasn't closed.

The middle-aged man felt a little embarrassed, and his gaze unconsciously drifted towards her.

She really looks like her.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, realizing he must be hallucinating.

Although the two look alike, they are completely different people in terms of temperament. This little girl in front of her might actually be related to her in some way.

"Little girl, what's your name? Let's get to know each other."

Su Ying gave her full name, and the man said his own name without being asked.

"My name is Qin Fang, you can call me Uncle Qin."

Su Ying nodded. Perhaps because she felt a sense of familiarity with soldiers, Su Ying didn't put too much pressure on Qin Fang.

My eyelids, which were originally so heavy with sleep, suddenly perked up, and the two of them sat on the chairs next to each other and chatted happily.

Su Ying treated the older man in front of her as an elder, and before she knew it, they had been chatting for more than an hour, and she was getting hungry.

Before having dinner, Su Ying deliberately reached into her crossbody bag and took out stir-fried pork and rice prepared by the Peace Hotel.

He pushed a plate of stir-fried pork and rice in front of Qin Fang, saying, "This is a meal I packed from a state-run restaurant before I boarded the train. Here, have a plate for me."

Qin Fang was a little embarrassed and was about to refuse, but he couldn't resist the aroma of stir-fried pork with chili peppers and swallowed hard.

It smells so good! It's unlike any other stir-fried pork with chili peppers I've ever had before. It's so fragrant it's almost overwhelming.

"Is this stir-fried pork with chili peppers up to the standard of a state-run restaurant?"

Su Ying nodded awkwardly. Could it be that Qin Fang had eaten at a state-run restaurant before boarding the train?

It can't be that much of a coincidence.

Society is dead!

She wanted to bury herself on the spot.

"It seems that the stir-fried pork with chili peppers that I've had at other state-run restaurants really can't compare to yours."

"You had stir-fried pork with chili peppers for lunch."

"yes."

Su Ying awkwardly buried her head in her food, unwilling to say another word, for saying more would only lead to more mistakes.

"Hurry up and eat, it won't taste good if it gets cold."

Seeing how hospitable the young girl was, Qin Fang finished the entire serving of stir-fried pork with chili peppers and rice in the aluminum lunchbox.

I felt a little strange. They had been on the train for almost an hour and a half. Even the best insulated lunchbox couldn't keep the food warm forever.

The little girl's food was piping hot, just like it had been cooked and taken out of the pot. It was delicious and the temperature was just right.

Shaking off the jumbled thoughts in his head, he was surprised that a young woman had invited him to dinner, and he used his keen observation skills, typical of a soldier, to suspect that she had a secret.

Perhaps it was because the young girl was very careful in her actions, wrapping the item in multiple layers of cloth to keep it warm.

That must be it.

He must be overthinking things. How could he possibly have such malicious thoughts about a little girl?
