Chapter Sixty-Three: The Su Siblings

After escaping from the wedding, Feng Jin returned to the secluded valley. Her slender and tall figure leaned slightly forward, resting against the railing of the long bridge. One hand cupped her small face, while the other fed the fish in the lake. Every gesture she made exuded a nonchalant air.

A cool breeze swept over her, and a soft voice drifted from afar: "Princess Jing, look, it's me, it's me..."

She turned around abruptly, looking in the direction of the sound, and saw at a glance a man in a light blue fur robe and wearing a magnificent crown running towards her—it was Su Yu.

Startled, Feng Jin stared at him intently with wide, dark eyes. After a slight hesitation, she asked, "Your Highness? How is it you?"

Su Yu calmed her turbulent emotions, turned her eyes slightly, and pouted as if she were angry, complaining, "You brat, you've made me search for you for days! You really know how to hide, you've practically disappeared to the ends of the earth! You should know that my time is very precious. Tell me, how do you plan to make it up to me?"

After a long pause, he caught a glimpse of her listless appearance out of the corner of his eye. His heart tightened, his face paled, and he immediately fell silent.

Suddenly, the two of them were enveloped in a heavy, silent atmosphere. As a gentle breeze swept by, leaves began to fall from the lush branches on the bank, carpeting the ground in emerald green in the blink of an eye. The desolate scene before her eyes was clearly reflected in Feng Jin's eyes, and the look of loss in her eyes grew even deeper.

Gazing at her troubled face for a long time, Su Yu unconsciously lowered her eyes and sighed softly, "I'm so sorry, it's all because I took the initiative to suggest a marriage alliance to the Emperor that you've ended up in this situation..."

"Why blame you? If he really didn't want to give others a handle for those so-called bright and glorious futures, he could have fought back without hesitation..." Feng Jin suddenly turned to Su Yu, slightly curled the corners of her lips, and immediately showed a bitter smile: "I just didn't expect that after all this time and effort, I would ultimately lose to the word 'power'."

“I believe that one day he will figure it out himself and come to help you resolve this issue. But until then, promise me that you will stop worrying about these things. Life is short, and we should all learn to find joy in hardship so that we don’t waste this one life.”

Su Yu smiled slightly and strolled towards her. It was as if, at some moment, a golden light swept across their eyes.

Seeing Feng Jin's face light up with a smile, Su Yu took the opportunity to bring his palms together and strike, his eyes instantly brightening as he laughed heartily, "How about... I take you to a nice place now, so we can have some fun?"

Before Su Yu could finish speaking, just then, Su Ruan, accompanied by several attendants, led the way around the jungle and approached from a distance.

Su Ruan wore a jade hairpin in her hair, her lips were red and her face was fair. When she smiled slightly, it was like a blooming flower. She wore a deep purple dress with white datura flowers embroidered on the hem. A light brown silk sash tied her waist, which complemented the color of the dress perfectly. Almost every detail was exquisite.

As they gazed at each other closely, Feng Jin clearly saw Su Ruan's innate allure. Her slightly open phoenix eyes shimmered with a gentle smile. She was almost perfect, and even her subtle gestures carried the captivating charm of Mu Beichen.

Upon seeing Su Yu standing casually beside Feng Jin, Su Ruan was undeniably surprised. She glanced at him suspiciously and exclaimed in surprise, "Brother, what are you doing here?"

"I've only been here a little while..." Su Yu forced a smile, then turned to Su Ruan and said slowly, "By the way, let me introduce you. This is my sister Su Ruan—also known as Princess Mingxia of our Jianglan Kingdom. This is her first time in the Beiyou Kingdom, and she is not yet very familiar with many of the rules and etiquette. Please forgive her if she is not very polite."

"So it's Princess Mingxia. It's a pleasure to meet you. Feng Jin greets you." Out of courtesy, Feng Jin bowed to Su Ruan. She then slightly raised the corners of her mouth, revealing her cherry blossom-like lips in a smile. Her stiff expression at that moment perfectly illustrated what it meant to have a forced smile.

Su Ruan quickly stepped forward, supporting Feng Jin's wrists with both hands to straighten her up. A sweet smile slowly bloomed on her beautiful face: "Sister, there's no need to be so polite. I came here this time specifically to get closer to you. We are sisters, so let's not be too distant in the future."

As she exchanged pleasantries with Feng Jin, she subconsciously glanced at Su Yu beside her and gently moved her lips to say, "Brother, why don't you excuse yourself for a moment? I want to have a good talk with Sister Feng Jin."

Su Yu smiled slightly and said, "Alright, you two can continue your conversation. I'll be going now." With that, he turned and left.

Watching Su Yu's figure gradually disappear into the distance until it could no longer be seen clearly with the naked eye, Su Ruan secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She then followed Feng Jin to the end of the bridge and saw a small bamboo house. She suddenly stopped and couldn't help but cover her mouth in amazement, "Sister lives in a place like this now?"

Feng Jin smiled faintly in response: "Yes, I've been eating and sleeping here lately. I'm all alone and living quite comfortably."

"This is truly unfair to you. If the Prince knew your current situation, he would surely be heartbroken." Su Ruan gazed intently at her, her brow furrowing unconsciously. She sighed softly, "Sister, I know it's all because of my appearance that a rift has formed between the Prince and you. But I only wanted to stay by your side, and I never intended to replace you or claim the Prince for myself. If you're willing to come back with me, I'm willing to relinquish my position as your principal wife..."

Upon hearing this, Feng Jin showed no emotional fluctuation. She shook her head slightly and said in a calm tone, "Princess, you flatter me. My status is lowly; how could I dare to be above you?"

"Sister, you must still be angry with me if you say that. If you are unwilling to accept the position of Princess Jing, I will kneel here forever." Su Ruan said urgently, bending her knees towards the ground and kneeling directly in front of Feng Jin.

Upon seeing this, she was immediately moved and suddenly realized that Su Ruan was not as difficult to deal with as she had imagined. On the contrary, she was gentle and charming, without any airs of a princess.

“I appreciate the princess’s kindness, but this is a matter between him and me, and it’s not something anyone else can resolve.” As she spoke, she stepped forward and helped Su Ruan up from the ground. Feng Jin’s tone was much gentler than before: “It’s windy and humid here. Staying too long might harm the princess’s precious health. Please leave.”

Su Ruan quickly straightened up and smiled slightly at her: "Since that's the case, then I won't force you. Whenever you want to return to the palace, just give the word, and I will come to greet you personally." After saying that, she and the other attendants left Feng Jin's sight.
