Chapter 55 Castile (VI) The Rose Knights...

Chapter 55 Castile (VI) The Rose Knights...

Compared to the good fortune of the Rose Knights, the wedding procession from Lorraine was not so lucky. The entire procession consisted of the knights of Lorraine and the knights brought by the Castilian envoy, and the knights' strength was sufficient to deal with a sudden small swarm of insects.

The concubine, about to be sent to Castile, huddled inside the carriage. His attendant, sword in hand, stood guard behind the carriage door, his hands trembling. Chu Jing, meanwhile, gripped the blanket covering him tightly, finding some security in it. Outside the carriage window came the roars of the insectoids and the voices of knights. He knew that since his mother's death and his father's remarriage, his position within the family had become somewhat awkward.

But he had already wisely moved to the countryside. Unexpectedly, his father was so heartless that he sent him to Castile to be the queen's concubine when he was just 16 years old.

Queen Castile, at 34, was in her prime and had countless concubines. She had even heard that some of these concubines had been bestowed upon knight commanders. In particular, her husband was extremely jealous, and many of his concubines had died at his hands, but he had only received minor punishments because his husband's family was very powerful. Chu Jing shed two lines of tears. He didn't know which way to go from here. The only person accompanying him was Xiao Yuan, the Omega servant who was holding a sword and trembling in front of him.

Moreover, he wasn't the only one going to Castile to be a concubine; there were two others. Of the three, the Prince of Lorraine had the best family background, and Percy Monmo had the best looks. He himself had no advantages whatsoever, and even if he gained the Queen's favor, it was hard to say whether he could escape the difficulties posed by the royal consort.

Chu Jing felt his mind was in complete chaos. He knew he was never a strong person. The soft sobs reached Xiao Yuan's ears. Outside the carriage, there was a bloody storm, and inside the carriage was a fragile Omega who didn't know what his fate was.

The sounds of battle gradually subsided, and Chu Jing drifted off to sleep. He only opened his eyes slowly when a faint light shone through the curtains. There was a knock at the carriage window, and he tremblingly reached out to pull back the curtain. A knight stood at the window and said to him, "Your Excellency, the insect swarm has been wiped out, and the caravan is about to set off again." After saying this, he left, but Chu Jing noticed that the knight was secretly glancing at him.

Chu Jing abruptly pulled the curtains shut, his heart pounding. He clutched his chest. How dare a knight treat him like this! If he were not favored, would he become a knight's consort like those concubines who were casually given away? He had always been afraid of knights, terrified of their large muscles and rude manners. His frail body was no match for them.

The carriage started moving, and Chu Jing leaned against the cushions, getting one step closer to Castile. He touched the back of his neck, feeling a slight warmth in his glands, which made him blush involuntarily. Others only began to differentiate at the age of 18, but he differentiated into an Omega at the age of 15, so he could not possibly receive the comfort of Alph, and could only rely on expensive inhibitors.

Perhaps the long journey and fear caused his passion to flare up earlier than expected. He looked up, his voice weak, "Xiao Yuan, how much inhibitor do you have?"

"There's enough for you to get through three heat cycles." Xiao Yuan's voice was equally soft. The treatment of the master and servant wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either.

Hearing Xiao Yuan's words, Chu Jing's tense mood relaxed a bit, but what if he was ignored in the palace after three heat cycles? How would he obtain such an essential substance as the suppressant?

At such a young age, he had to think about himself. He had seen a portrait of the Queen of Castile, a beautiful female Alpha, but he really didn't like her.

The group continued their journey toward Castile. In the past few days, there had only been a few small attacks from the Zerg, but the knights had dealt with them all. After a long and bumpy ride in the carriage, Chu Jingze's face was extremely pale. His once beautiful face was now tarnished and looked like a pearl covered in dust.

Chu Jing took the water glass from Xiao Yuan and sipped it slowly, his eyes drooping. He asked, "How much longer until we arrive?"

"Hmm... about another day and a half." Xiao Yuan sighed. "It's so uncomfortable to stay in the carriage all day. We're not even allowed to get out and move around."

Just as Chu Jing was about to speak, the noise outside the window caught his attention. He peeked out the window and then quickly pulled back, slamming the window shut. Meeting Xiao Yuan's questioning gaze, he breathed heavily and described what he had seen in broken sentences, "There are enemy troops! We are surrounded by enemy troops."

He gently patted his chest, trying to comfort himself. The accompanying knights were so powerful that they would surely be alright. But no matter how much he tried to comfort himself, one obvious fact remained: fighting the Zerg would inevitably result in losses of manpower, especially if they encountered a formidable enemy force along the way.

He couldn't help but pray that perhaps the Knights could drive them away.

A gunshot shattered the stalemate between the two sides, and the Knights of Castile launched the first attack, quickly plunging the two sides into a melee.

When the Rose Knights arrived, this was the scene before them. But Feng Sui quickly devised a strategy: they attacked from the enemy's rear, disrupting their formation and catching them off guard.

The melee continued into the afternoon when the enemy's knight commander issued a retreat order. Feng Sui breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, they had arrived in time. Had they been any later, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

The Castilian envoy's knightly order this time was a second-tier knightly order—the Silver Wing Knights. Its leader, Asoron, and Feng Sui had known each other since the knight training camp. Asoron came up to Feng Sui and patted her on the shoulder heavily, "We really owe you a lot this time. When we get back to the royal city, let's have a good get-together!"

Feng Sui nodded with a smile. Thanks to Xu Lingzhao, the Rose Knights were still traveling at a normal speed, but Xu Lingzhao found her and said that she heard some unusual sounds. Whether Feng Sui believed it or not was up to her.

Feng Sui hesitated for a moment before announcing that they should speed up their journey. If it was a hoax, then there would be no loss in receiving the wedding procession and envoys ahead of time. If it was real, then arriving on time would be a meritorious deed.

The enemy had just retreated, and all the knights were in the process of resting. Xu Lingzhao wiped the blood off her face. She felt that she was covered in blood, but successfully repelling the enemy was a beneficial thing for herself. She originally wanted to climb up the ranks step by step by using her military merits.

Yu Yu knelt beside Xu Lingzhao and sighed, "It's exhausting. Luckily we arrived in time. If something had gone wrong, most of us here would have lost our lives. Sigh! It concerns cooperation between the two countries. We are all cannon fodder."

Xu Lingzhao kicked her and frowned slightly. "Keep your voice down. Don't always say such outrageous things. If someone hears you, you'll be the first one to lose your head."

Yu Yu looked dejected, while Xu Lingzhao narrowed his eyes slightly—more insectoids were coming. They were very fast, and before Xu Lingzhao could even speak, Feng Sui and Asoron instantly reacted and commanded their respective knight orders to begin the battle.

It was a mixed insect swarm. Xu Lingzhao saw a type of worm with extremely long tentacles. It liked to wrap people up with its mucus, suffocate them, and then take them into its nest to eat slowly.

Xu Lingzhao tried to use her mental power to drive it away. She had never learned this method before, but a powerful force surged through her body. She stared at the hydra that kept leaping towards her. The hydra, which had been baring its fangs and claws, froze in place. Xu Lingzhao narrowed her eyes and concentrated. Something unexpected happened.

The hydra under her control, along with the heads of all the Zerg around it, exploded. Yu Yu, standing next to her, gaped, her gaze shifting between the Zerg corpses with their heads blown off and Xu Lingzhao. She said enviously, "Holy crap, an S-rank is this strong! I, your little brother, must bow to you, big brother!"

"Younger brother, please accept a bow from elder brother?" Xu Lingzhao's lips twitched, and he nudged her with his elbow. "Fine, elder brother, don't stand next to me, you're affecting my performance." As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Yu quickly admitted her mistake, "Oh, oh, I was wrong, you are the elder brother."

Upon hearing this, Xu Lingzhao's eyebrows relaxed, and a small pixel appeared on her lips. She continued to try to attack the Zerg with her mental power, and in her eyes, the Zerg became free sparring partners. However, Xu Lingzhao always felt that something was strange. For example, she couldn't help but keep looking in the direction of a carriage.

That was her concubine's carriage; logically, she should have been disgusted by it.

A deafening roar came from not far away—it was a large stone-ridged beast! Its entire body was covered in a hard shell, and its huge, sharp claws mercilessly smashed the knight into a pulp.

Some of the knights who witnessed this scene suffered a mental breakdown and retreated continuously. Xu Lingzhao looked at it. If it was not eliminated, all the knights present would probably not be able to escape. It was bloodthirsty, belligerent, cruel, and liked to eat raw food.

"Ah—!" Feng Sui pushed away a knight whose legs had gone weak, but her own back was scratched. Her armor shattered and fell to the ground. The wound on her back was so deep that the bone marrow was visible, and blood splattered on the ground. She let out a painful scream.

But the Stone Ridge Beast wouldn't give up so easily. It tried to attack again, but Galahad, who was closest to Feng Sui, kept retreating, shouting "Retreat!" He prevented the others from rescuing Feng Sui. At the critical moment, Xu Lingzhao appeared beside Feng Sui, took her hand, and looked at the Stone Ridge Beast that had already swung its claws.

She wanted to try using her mental power to stop its movements for a few seconds, at least to give her time to pick up Feng Sui. Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead as Xu Lingzhao stared intently at it. Fortunately, its claws did indeed freeze in mid-air! Xu Lingzhao seized the opportunity to pick up Feng Sui and ran away as quickly as possible, avoiding her injured area.

Feng Sui, still conscious, was bleeding from her mouth. Xu Lingzhao watched her lips move and thought she had something important to say, so he put his ear close to hers. He heard her weak voice in his ear, "Slow...slow...slow down...it hurts so much."

Xu Lingzhao looked at Feng Sui with astonishment in his eyes. The Knight Commander was truly interesting.
