Chapter 40: Making Trouble for Yourself

Yan Zheng's tone was very flat, and his eyes were expressionless, as if he was narrating someone else's story.

Sang Tianen felt that asking this kind of question would only make himself unhappy. Yan Zheng was 31 years old, how could he be a blank slate? It was normal for him to have had several relationships.

Who doesn’t have a white moonlight? It’s all about life experience. In her previous life, when she was studying abroad, she secretly had a crush on a tall, rich and handsome man.

He is tall and handsome, gentle and polite to others.

At that time, she was extremely poor and her mind was full of making money. In addition to her heavy schoolwork, she had to work every day. She was content as long as she could see her lover from afar.

Unlike many stories, she had no intersection with the tall, rich and handsome man from beginning to end. She was like a passerby with no lines. Sometimes even if they met, they would just pass by.

No one looked at her twice, and she didn't pay much attention to him either. Just like people passing by on the street, their meeting was the end of their relationship.

Later, the tall, rich and handsome man got married. She shamelessly attended his wedding in the name of an old classmate. When she saw the bride, she really believed in fate at that moment.

It turns out that there really are people in the world who can get all the favors from God, have a good family background, a shining resume, a beautiful face and figure, and can also find wonderful love.

It's no use for her to go crazy with jealousy. She is just prettier than you, better than you, and has a better family background than you. You can only swallow it even if you grit your teeth.

Many years later, when she looked back on this experience, she would find it inexplicably funny, thinking that she was really poor, ugly, and particularly pretentious at that time.

There are thousands of handsome men in the world. If she gets married, she still has other options. Why does she have such a twisted mentality?

"It's been nine years." Seeing that Sang Tianen had remained silent, Yan Zheng thought she minded this kind of thing, so he explained, "I've long been prepared for a new relationship."

Sang Tianen smiled brightly and blinked. "You think too much of me. Everyone has their own life experiences. I wouldn't be so extreme as to intervene if my partner was kissed by a little girl when he was a child. That's a sign of lack of confidence, and I'm a very confident person."

Yan Zheng was delighted by the word "partner". It seemed that Sang Tianen didn't just want to fall in love with him, but treated him as a life partner.

This made him quite satisfied. At his age, he really needed stability.

At this time, there was a knock on the door, and the waiter came in with a dining cart, and a seafood feast with good color, fragrance and taste was here.

"Minister Yan, please don't be polite to me." Sang Tianen said with a smile.

The two chatted as they ate, ranging from the current state of the industry to the latest gossip news, and the meal lasted nearly two hours.

Sang Tianen is quite satisfied with Yan Zheng as a partner. He speaks and acts decisively without wasting time, and they also have a lot of topics to talk about.

After eating and drinking, Sang Tianen suggested going to the movies according to the dating procedure, and Yan Zheng readily agreed.

The two chose a romance movie with a simple plot, mainly telling the story of how a pair of bickering enemies love and hate each other. The plot is very old-fashioned, but it can't stand the good looks of the male and female protagonists.

Next to Sang Tianen sat a young couple, who laughed like ducks from time to time, and Yan Zheng also chuckled from time to time.

She seemed to be the only one in the entire cinema who felt bored and dull, which might have something to do with her high sense of humour.

Halfway through, she felt extremely sleepy, but she didn't want to fall asleep on the first date, as it would seem very inappropriate. After thinking it over, she decided to go to the bathroom to wash her face and wake up.

She whispered to Yan Zheng, "I'm going to the bathroom." Yan Zheng immediately made way for her. Sang Tianen hunched over and tiptoed out of the screening room.

There was no one in the women's restroom, only the sound of running water in the sewer pipes.

Sang Tianen scooped up a handful of cold water and splashed it on his face, then slapped his cheeks hard, finally suppressing his tiredness.

She raised her eyes and saw a slightly tired face in the shiny mirror. The thin foundation on her face had long since disappeared, her eyelids were half drooping, and there were faint shadows under her eyes.

Being in love is really painful. I don’t know why this idea suddenly came to Sang Tianen’s mind.

If she were alone, she would have gone home and taken a nap if she had seen such a boring movie, instead of lingering here for so long.

As a single person, she sometimes drags Shi Zhou over to watch movies together, but they usually watch their own movies.

Sang Tianen likes to watch science fiction movies, and Shi Zhou likes to watch romance movies. Whoever finishes first will wait outside, and after everyone is gathered, they will go back home to see their mothers.

Some people may think that there is something wrong with her, but in Sang Tianen's opinion, this is a very comfortable way of getting along.

In fact, she just wanted to pick a recently released foreign science fiction film to watch, but Yan Zheng wanted to watch a romance movie, so she had to accompany him.

She also wants to see her own side, but isn't that just asking for trouble?

She asked someone out to see a movie, but then she ran away, leaving the person alone. This kind of behavior can no longer be described as a straight woman, it is simply courting death.

But when she watched the movies that the other person was interested in, she felt bored and even couldn't help wanting to sleep.

Sang Tianen smiled bitterly. She was already annoyed before they even started dating. It seemed that she was really destined to live out her life alone. Falling in love would only harm both herself and others.

She put her hand under the sensor faucet again, scooped up a handful of water and splashed it on her face to calm herself down.

After coming out of the bathroom, she called Zhou Feiyu and asked her to help her check Sang Muyang's schedule in Anye. She still wanted to have a good communication with her brother.

Zhou Feiyu promised to help her get things done within half an hour. After hanging up the phone, Sang Tianen returned to the screening room and continued watching the boring movie.

The movie is approaching its climax. The heroine's first love returns to China. The two continue to flirt with each other, but are caught by the hero. As a result, the hero and heroine quarrel, the first love gets involved, and they break up...

Sang Tianen sighed in his heart as he watched. It seemed that love movies nowadays could not be made without the despicable third party.

However, conflicts and contradictions are what make things interesting, but she is not the audience for this kind of interest.

The film ends with the hero and heroine meeting on the streets of a foreign country. They look at each other in silence, and the flying snowflakes fall on their heads, as if fulfilling their promise to grow old together.

The young couple next to them were hugging each other, the boy snuggled in the girl's arms, crying.

Sang Tianen glanced at Yan Zheng next to him. He didn't react much, neither crying nor looking sad.

The light from the screen floated on his face, and his deep eyes were always staring ahead, dark and gloomy, like an abyss with no bottom to be seen.
