Chapter 477 Encountering Xie Ting

Upon hearing that they could go out for a big meal, Gu Bin instantly perked up. His backache and leg pain disappeared, and he jumped up excitedly, saying, "Let's go, let's go now!"

Xie Yan nodded and said with a smile, "Okay, when you go home to change your clothes, call your aunt along too."

Gu Bin's voice came from outside, filled with undisguised joy, "Alright!"

Zhang Linghui looked at Gu Bin, who had already disappeared from sight, and couldn't help but facepalm with disgust.

She really didn't recognize this man, who looked like a reincarnated starving ghost.

When Gu's mother heard her son say that Xie Yan had specially invited her to dinner, she was very happy. She felt that her son was sensible and even thought of her during the meal.

But she still declined.

Xie Yan was puzzled and asked with a look of confusion, "Why isn't Auntie going?"

Gu Bin shrugged helplessly, "My mom said she won't bother us young people while we're eating."

Xie Yan: "?"

He really felt it was a pity that Gu's mother wasn't going; she'd made some money recently and was planning to spend a lot today.

Moreover, during this time, Gu's mother truly cared for him immensely.

Not only did they frequently invite him over for meals, but they also provided a lot of professional and practical advice on the house renovation.

It has been a great help, especially in small furniture items such as cups and dishes.

Gu's mother knew some sales clerks, and through their connections, she bought some high-quality cups and kettles that had minor flaws but did not affect their usability.

Although these items may not look particularly attractive, they are inexpensive and do not require tickets, which greatly helped the thank-you banquet.

Knowing that Xie Yan had bought some flawed fabric, Gu's mother took the initiative to discuss with him and used the leftover fabric from cutting curtains and door curtains to make matching tablecloths and coasters.

Sure enough, after Gu's mother's skillful renovation, the whole house instantly became much warmer.

Not to mention, Gu's mother even asked for Xie Yan's spare key so she could help take care of the house when he wasn't home. Xie Yan remembered all of this and planned to treat her to a nice meal when he had time.

"I'll go call Auntie again!" Xie Yan said, walking towards Gu's mother's room. He sincerely hoped that Gu's mother could have dinner with him, as a small way of repaying her for taking care of him during this time.

"Besides, Gu's father eats at the cafeteria, and she probably doesn't cook at home by herself."

Xie Yan had already decided that if Gu's mother didn't want to go, she would pack some food for her to bring back.

Gu Bin quickly stopped Xie Yan and explained with a smile, "Don't go. My mom said we're not eating at home today. She's going out to eat with her best friend and do some shopping while we're at it."

"They had made plans before, but they were busy cooking for us, so it was delayed until now."

Xie Yan stopped in her tracks. Since Aunt Bi wanted to go shopping with her girlfriends, she decided to let it go.

So the three of them, along with a small child, happily went to a restaurant.

Today, since everyone was close family, we were able to fully enjoy the food.

The restaurant was filled with a lively and cheerful atmosphere, and the aroma of the food was irresistible.

And you know what? Without any annoying people around to annoy us, today's dishes tasted many times better than before, and every bite was intoxicating.

The local specialty, roast duck, was especially delicious. I was so satisfied with the meal that I've decided to sneak over every day to buy two ducks and bring them back to my family.

After the deck chairs were set up, Xie Yan and Gu Bin hired a tricycle.

They arrived at Mr. Li's house and carefully loaded the recliners onto the car one by one.

Just as Xie Yan was about to leave, he suddenly heard someone call his name.

He turned around in confusion, searching his surroundings, but didn't see anyone he recognized.

Just as he was about to turn and leave again, he clearly heard the voice again. This time, perhaps because it was closer, Xie Yan felt that the voice was very familiar, like the voice of his vengeful younger brother.

But then I felt it shouldn't be like this; Xie Ting should still be in the South China Sea, how could he be in Beijing?

Even if he's just back from visiting relatives, that doesn't make sense. He just looked around and didn't see a single familiar face.

Before Xie Yan could turn around again, he saw a thin, dark-skinned man, who looked like he could swing back and forth on a tree looking for bananas, walking towards him.

The sudden movement startled Xie Yan, who unconsciously took two steps back.

He felt a chill run down his spine and secretly cursed, "Who is this?"

I really don't know this kind of person!

Seeing Xie Yan's reaction, Xie Ting was so angry that she gritted her teeth.

He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the curse that was about to escape his lips, and walked step by step toward Xie Yan, suppressing his anger.

During this time, whenever he had free time, he would go here to stake out the place, but after so long, he hadn't found anything. Today, he came to pick up his fiancée, but unexpectedly, he bumped into Xie Yan.

He knew he couldn't miss this opportunity; he had to find out why Xie Yan had returned and why he was here.

Xie Yan finally recognized Xie Ting when he got closer.

Xie Yan straightened up somewhat awkwardly, after all, he hadn't recognized the other person at first glance.

He said in a slightly stiff tone, "Xie Ting?"

As Xie Ting approached, Xie Yan forced a smile, "It really is you. I almost didn't recognize you."

Xie Yan regretted saying that as soon as he said it, but there was nothing he could do. The words had already been spoken and could not be taken back. He could only slap himself silently in his heart.

How can I say what's on my mind!

Sure enough, Xie Ting's face instantly stiffened upon hearing this, as if he had been whipped hard.

But Xie Ting, who had experienced the trials of society, was no longer the impulsive young man he once was. He forced a stiff smile and asked directly, "Brother, aren't you in the Northwest?"

"Why are you back?"

Xie Yan tilted his head, a half-smile on his face, and asked, "Weren't you in the South China Sea?"

"How did you get here?"

Xie Ting seemed to have anticipated Xie Yan's question and answered calmly, "I was sick and had no choice but to come back."

"And you, brother? Are you back to visit family?"

Xie Yan shook his head and pointed to Gu Bin beside him, "No, I came here with my friend."

"This is the guy. He brought his wife and kids back and was worried he couldn't take care of them all by himself, so he asked me to help him."

Xie Ting looked at Gu Bin with some suspicion, then smiled and said to Xie Yan, "Brother, now that you're back, why don't you go home?"

Xie Yan laughed, looking directly at Xie Ting, and said without any hesitation, "You don't need to test me anymore. Since I wrote the letter of severance, I won't go back. Don't worry."

Xie Ting's face froze instantly; he hadn't expected Xie Yanye to bring this up so bluntly in public.

Fortunately, his fiancée hadn't arrived yet, so she didn't witness this awkward moment.

He quickly explained, "That's not what I meant."

Xie Yan interrupted him directly, deliberately teasing, "I was overthinking it. How about I go home now?"
