Chapter 57 The Little Rascal Who Burns Fire
In the early hours of the morning, Xinmian arrived at the dock as agreed.
Guan Lin said that on her last day on Wangshui Island, she wanted to go sea fishing. She thought that she had been there for several months but had not tried sea fishing yet, so she nodded in agreement.
Along the way, from residential areas to the seaside, from quiet and peaceful to bustling and lively.
For the fishermen and merchants who come to buy goods, a day on Wangshui Island has already begun.
As dawn breaks, the blue hues on the horizon are about to be replaced by another color, creating a mesmerizing gradient.
A sea breeze blew, and Xin Mian wrapped her coat tighter around herself, sniffed, and began searching for Guan Lin.
Small fishing boats heading out to sea are located near this pier, which is currently bustling with people and filled with noise.
Bargainers and hawkers mingled together in a chaotic scene.
The townspeople are willing to get up before dawn just for a taste of fresh seafood.
A faint smell of the sea filled the air. Xinmian stood shivering in the cold wind for several minutes before she could barely spot Guan Lin in the crowd.
She waved to him vigorously, "Guan Lin, over here!"
Guan Lin carefully avoided her as he jogged up to her. "Senior, I'm sorry."
"I'm late."
Xin Mian waved her hand dismissively and said with a smile, "It's nothing, it's just that I arrived a little early."
The two walked toward the dock while talking. Next to a group of fishing boats that were returning with their catch, there were a few fishing boats that were not decorated in such a rough manner.
It should be used by tourists to book sea excursions.
After Xinmian agreed to Guan Lin's request yesterday, he immediately booked a boat and made all the necessary arrangements.
They can board the ship now.
The boat isn't very big; there's a small cabin in the middle, and then the engine is located.
The captain was a middle-aged man of medium build with dark skin. He smiled kindly at them and carefully confirmed the booking information with Guan Lin on his phone.
Xinmian found a seat on the deck and sat down.
The waves crashed against the rocks on the shore, splashing up sprays of water, and the fishing boats swayed gently in response.
After being exposed to the wind for a while, she bent down to zip up her jacket, sniffed, and finally decided to put on the hood of her coat.
It's a bit cold.
The engine sputtered and the fishing boat slowly moved away from the shore. The crowd on the shore gradually shrank in her sight, and the lively sounds slowly faded away, until only the sound of the fishing boat's engine remained.
Guan Lin came over with the sea fishing gear provided by the captain and pointed to a spot not far ahead. "The captain said we can't go too far, so we can just fish from there."
He must have done some research before coming. After sitting down next to Xin Mian, he started talking to her about things related to sea fishing.
“The period from after the Mid-Autumn Festival in the lunar calendar to November is the best time for autumn fishing.”
"In order to store up energy for winter, fish are coming out to feed more frequently."
"Maybe we can make a pretty good profit today."
Xin Mian's head was a little fuzzy from the wind, and she replied a beat late, "...Do you really like sea fishing?"
Guan Lin nodded guiltily, "I watched the video online before and thought it was quite interesting, so I wanted to try it out."
Most importantly, he wanted to find a place where they could be alone without being disturbed.
The man who picked Xinmian up from the bar that night knew the bar owner and was probably a local. If he and Xinmian had been sightseeing on the island, they might have run into him.
That's why he decided to go sea fishing.
Xinmian started sniffling, not bothering to investigate whether his words were true or false, and curled up into a small ball to try to avoid facing the wind head-on.
She seemed to be having some regrets.
Why did we have to go sea fishing? We should have asked Guan Lin to choose another activity.
Although she was wearing a coat, she seemed to have underestimated the power of the autumn sea breeze.
Strands of hair at her temples were blown out of her hood again, flying wildly in the air. Xinmian managed to hook them back with her fingers, her whole body trembling.
Once the boat arrived at the designated location, Guan Lin enthusiastically explained how to use the sea fishing gear.
Large-bellied floats, connectors, sea beans, flip hooks...
He explained very carefully, but Xinmian was already starting to lose focus.
The sea breeze was giving her a headache, so she could only watch the sea and sky meet and the sunrise to keep herself from getting lost in thought.
Seeing that she was quiet, Guan Lin hesitated and asked, "...Senior, are you feeling a little bored?"
Xin Mian slowly turned around, a slight smile appearing on her face, which was stiff from the wind. "It's alright, not boring."
The scenery is quite beautiful.
The atmosphere suddenly became a little awkward.
Guan Lin couldn't read any other meaning from her expression, so he could only lower his head and continue fiddling with the fishing rod.
The fishing hook was finally cast.
Fishing requires calmness and patience, and the two remained silent.
Having been on Wangshui Island for so long, this is the first time Xinmian has ever properly watched the sunrise over the sea.
The boundless sea was already turning a pale white, the morning mist was gradually dissipating, and golden rays of light pierced through the hazy distance, shining directly onto the sea.
Everything on the sea surface is becoming clearer, and the ripples of the seawater are slowly reflecting the sunlight.
Xinmian took a deep sniff.
The sunrise was beautiful, but it was really cold on the boat with the strong sea breeze.
Just as she was wondering if telling Guan Lin that she was going back would be too disappointing, she heard a noise from the cabin behind her.
Her neck was stiff from the sea breeze, and assuming it was the captain, she didn't turn around to look.
However, just a few seconds later, a large, heavy men's coat was placed on her shoulders, and the hood of the coat was also placed over her head.
Xin Mian froze, then immediately turned around, her eyes suddenly lighting up.
"Chi Yu!"
The man stood with his back to the light on the deck bathed in the morning glow, his tall figure looming over her.
He was wearing a black windbreaker with the collar turned up and the zipper pulled all the way up to his sharp chin.
The metal zipper pull shone brightly in the morning light.
His cold, handsome features were partially hidden in the light, with a high, straight nose connecting to his jawline and creating a shadow; his facial contours were sharp and strong.
As the sea breeze blew, Chi Yu reached out to hold down her hood, which was about to be blown off. With a cold face, he bent down and silently zipped up her outermost coat.
As she got closer, she could smell his fresh scent again, carried on the sea breeze, though it wasn't very clear.
But she still smelled it.
The smell made her feel inexplicably at ease.
Guan Lin, standing to the side, stared wide-eyed at the "uninvited guest" in front of him, his face full of disbelief.
My first instinct was to call out to the captain, "Didn't I already charter your boat?"
The captain peeked out from the back of the cabin with a grin and shouted into the sea breeze, "They chartered my whole ship!"
“Ayu is my assistant today.”
He thought Guan Lin was worried about Chi Yu's sea fishing skills. "Don't worry, he grew up on Wangshui Island. He knows exactly what it's like to go deep-sea fishing!"
Guan Lin was indeed worried.
But his concerns had nothing to do with sea fishing.
However, the captain's words left him speechless.
Chi Yu sat down next to Xin Mian, his tall frame shielding her from the sea breeze blowing from the side.
It's like a moving, warm artificial wall.
With her hair no longer flying wildly in the wind and her cheeks no longer stinging from the wind, Xinmian's mind became much clearer.
She turned her head and stared intently at Chi Yu.
Yesterday afternoon, not long after she finished her phone call with Qin Shengtian, Chi Yu came in from outside.
Without a word, the man hugged her from behind, half-pressing her down, his body feeling incredibly heavy.
His hands and lips were not to be mischievous either, lifting the hem of her clothes and reaching inside, his tongue licking her earlobe.
Xin Mian was so weak from his kisses that she turned into a puddle of water. After panting a few times, she barely managed to regain her composure, pressed down his mischievous hand, and changed the subject.
"...I'm hungry..."
Chi Yu hugged her and chuckled softly, saying that she had exhausted herself with lovemaking in the early hours of the morning and was hungry again not long after lunch.
She blushed with embarrassment at his words and tried to kick him, but he grabbed her arm.
"Looks like you're not feeling bad anymore?"
Xin Mian froze, and only after he said that did she realize that she really didn't feel so bad anymore.
Seeing her bewildered expression, Chi Yu pinched her chin, turned her around, and gave her a warm, lingering kiss.
After the kiss, he picked her up from the bed.
After dinner, Xinmian refused to go back upstairs, hoping to leave the house smoothly that day.
But Chi Yu shamelessly followed her and insisted on squeezing onto her bed.
Her heart pounded, but the two of them had already gone through so much, and had shared a bed many times before. If she refused too decisively, it would seem like she had something to hide.
In the end, I could only sleep in his arms all night, praying that I wouldn't wake him when I woke up this morning.
Around 4 a.m., when she sneaked out of her room like a thief, he was still fast asleep. How did they suddenly end up on the same ship?
Xin Mian's gaze was too direct, and the doubt in her eyes was obvious.
However, Chi Yu has no intention of answering her questions for the time being.
She secretly ran away from him, braving the cold wind on the sea without even bringing a thick coat.
People are practically turning into idiots by all this hype.
Chi Yu, still with a cold expression, shoved a thermos box he had been carrying in his right hand into her arms.
Xin Mian blinked. "What is this?"
He asked in a cold voice, "Have you had breakfast?"
She choked, then sheepishly shrank back, "...I didn't eat..."
It was still dark when she left home, and she hadn't even thought about having breakfast.
Chi Yu lowered his eyelids, opened the insulated box with a cold face, and shoved the spoon into her hand.
Fish porridge.
The moment the lid was opened, the aroma of the fish congee was instantly carried up by the sea breeze.
Xin Mian's eyes lit up. "You did this?!"
"Otherwise what?"
His face was still very sour.
"Little girl, this fish porridge was freshly made by A-Yu! You have to eat it while it's hot!"
The captain, who was in the cabin, must have heard something. He poked his head out, holding a bowl in his hand, and took a sip of fish porridge with relish.
"I'm in for a treat today."
Xin Mian asked in surprise, "You've been cooking porridge in the cabin the whole time?"
No wonder the fishing boat had been away from the shore for so long, and he only just got out now.
Chi Yu gave her a cold look, and was about to say something sarcastic, but when he looked down he saw her nose, which was red from the cold, and he changed his words, saying, "There was too much time, and we didn't have time to buy something ready-made."
She was already so thin, and then she got so cold. She needs to eat something hot.
Chi Yu still felt angry when she thought about it.
The little rascal insisted on coming to the appointment without telling him, and ended up looking like this.
He left the house behind her and had to board the ship before her, so he didn't have time to buy breakfast.
Fortunately, there is no shortage of fresh seafood at the dock.
The captain also had his own cooking utensils in the cabin, so he used what he had to cook a pot of porridge.
The fish I gave her was all boneless.
The fish porridge smelled wonderful, and it even had her favorite pepper powder added. After a few bites, she felt warm all over.
Xin Mian lowered her head and obediently drank her porridge. When the small box of porridge was almost empty, she turned her head to look at him, as if she had thought of something.
Her eyes were bright and sparkling.
"Chi Yu, you look just like the fairy godmother."
