Chapter 98: Ignite the Fire and Take the Initiative to Return to the Car for a Kiss

Chapter 98 The Fire Pierces Back to the Car for a Kiss

In the end, the two did not do it.

Xin Mian was taken aback by his question. In that instant, Chi Yu looked up and saw the time on the smart display screen by the bedside, and even the deepest desires had to be stopped.

Once you start doing it, it won't be something you can finish in one go.

But the two of them have important things to do tomorrow, so she won't have time to rest much.

Chi Yu gripped her chin and sucked hard, then, just like that night in the hospital, pulled the blanket over her, got out of bed, and went to the bathroom.

Xin Mian stared blankly at his taut, taut back muscles until she heard the bathroom door close, at which point she snapped out of her daze.

His gaze swept across the screen and he saw the time displayed on the smart screen, realizing why he wasn't continuing.

She pulled the covers up, burying herself under them, her cheeks flushed, her eyes sparkling, and she smiled silently with her lips pursed.

His scent still lingered in the blankets, his unique and intense hormones enveloping her completely.

It makes her heart race, but it also makes her feel at ease.

This time she didn't wait for him intentionally, because she knew he wouldn't be out for at least half an hour.

Xinmian hugged the blanket, turned over to find a more comfortable position, calmed her breathing, and then slowly closed her eyes.

......

When I opened my eyes again, it was already past 8 a.m. the next day.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom, but there was no one by the bed.

Xinmian stared at the ceiling for a while before she came to her senses.

After taking a shower, Chi Yu came out of the bathroom and saw that she was already awake. He knelt on one knee on the bed and reached out to pull her into his arms.

"Are you hungry? Should I have the hotel send breakfast over?"

He carried a cool, damp aura that sent a shiver down her spine, instantly waking her up completely.

"You took a cold shower?"

It's so cold.

Chi Yu chuckled softly and gently pinched her cheek. "You went to the gym, you're all sweaty."

He was hot-tempered, and after sleeping with her all night, he had a lot of energy to burn, so he got up early in the morning to go to the gym. After his workout, he took a cold shower.

"oh..."

Xinmian felt that something was wrong, but she couldn't figure it out for the moment.

He didn't give her much time to react, picked her up and carried her to the bathroom to wash up.

After breakfast, the two drove to the house left by Xinmian's mother.

The house is located at the junction of the old and new urban areas of Yuncheng. Although the community and the building are a bit old, the house has risen in recent years because of its good location on the main road between the old and new urban areas, complete supporting facilities and convenient transportation.

No wonder Ge Qiuling kept pestering Zhang Jiandong, just wanting to get this house.

With this house, Zhang Chenyi could save himself several years of hard work.

When they arrived at the entrance of the residential area, they happened to run into the three housekeeping aunties they had arranged to meet. Xinmian and Chi Yu led them upstairs together.

The house has been uninhabited for nearly 10 years.

In the first few years after Xinmian's mother passed away, Zhang Jiandong would occasionally hire a housekeeper to clean the house. However, Ge Qiuling kept a close eye on the house, and he was also busy traveling long distances, so he gradually stopped taking care of it.

The room was covered in thick dust, the doors and windows were locked and the air was not circulating, and there was a faint smell.

As soon as the curtains are drawn back, the sunlight streams in, making the visual effect of the Tyndall effect particularly noticeable.

Fortunately, Chi Yu had the foresight to hire three housekeepers in one go.

The aunties were very diligent. As soon as they entered the room, they put down the cleaning tools they had brought and immediately rolled up their sleeves to get to work.

When Xin Mian was taken away from here by Zhang Jiandong, she was only 14 years old and had no idea about property certificates or compensation.

So she never thought about who would eventually get the house, and over the years, she never knew she could come back here.

She stood in the entryway, staring blankly at the dust cover that covered the living room.

During the time when the mother and daughter depended on each other for survival, no matter how hard or tiring it was, her mother still had hope for life.

My home is filled with green plants, fresh flowers, and all sorts of colors.

But now, all that can be seen is a silent gray and white.

Images kept flashing through Xinmian's mind—the warm and joyful moments she and her mother had shared, like a movie replay, emerging from the depths of her memory.

Every little detail seemed to take her back to that warm time.

A housekeeper came out of the master bedroom carrying a small box. "Miss Xin, this box is heavy and can't be opened. It looks like it contains books or something. Would you like to open it and take a look?"

Xin Mian's eyes lit up. "Yes, yes."

This is the box where my mother used to store photo albums.

Chi Yu could tell from her expression that the box was very important to her, so he took it from her.

Just then, another auntie cleared out two chairs with backs, so they carried the two chairs and the box to the living room balcony.

The past few days have been a bit cold due to the late spring chill, but thankfully the weather is nice today.

Sunlight streamed down, warming the two of them, and Xinmian's fingertips felt cozy.

The box wasn't locked, but because it had been there for so long, the joints were rusted and it was difficult to open.

However, this is not a big problem for Chi Yu.

He was strong, and he randomly picked up a handy tool from the clutter piled up on the balcony, and pried the box open in no time.

Inside the box were indeed several photo albums, seemingly arranged by year, and some of them looked quite old, judging from their covers.

Xinmian was in a great mood, her lips curving into a smile as she picked up one of the books as if it were a priceless treasure.

The two sat in the armchairs, and she happily opened the book, saying, "Look, this is a photo I took when I was in junior high school."

In the photo, Xin Mian still has some baby fat, with a round face, wearing a school short-sleeved shirt, with a track and field competition number clipped to her school uniform.

She appeared to have just finished running; her cheeks were flushed, and she was clearly very tired, but she still happily gave a "V" sign to the camera.

“This photo was probably taken by my classmate,” she said, her eyes sparkling. “That day was our school sports meet, and I ran the 400 meters.”

"I was exhausted," she sighed, but her voice was still cheerful. "I've never been good at sports since I was little, but the girl in my class who signed up happened to be on her period, so I volunteered to go in her place."

"Although I didn't get a top-three finish, at least I made it through the race, so I didn't embarrass myself."

"This photo was taken when I won an award in a drawing competition."

"This photo was taken after my mom and I won the lottery while shopping at the supermarket."

"This photo was taken when my mom and I went to the amusement park."

“And this one,” she said, pointing to the one in the very center. Memories of the past flooded back like a tide. She didn’t even need to think hard; all the images and experiences were already vivid in her mind.

"I went to get a haircut, but the hairdresser cut my bangs haphazardly, and I was so angry I almost cried."

"My mother kept comforting me, saying that this was not bad."

"I took this photo secretly when I got home and wasn't looking. Later, when my bangs grew longer, I realized I had this photo. I almost cried because I looked so ugly again, hahaha."

This photo album is full of life; every picture in it is proof of the mother and daughter working hard and living a positive life together.

Xinmian's mother is very wise about life and enjoys recording her daughter's life.

Most of the photos in the album are of Xinmian in various situations.

Chi Yu's deep gaze kept shifting between her profile and the photo album.

He hadn't been a part of her past, and that was a regret he couldn't erase.

But through these photos, he seemed to see how a toddler grew into a beautiful young girl.

As he walked through the years of photos, he seemed to witness her growth as well.

But after the age of 14, all photographic traces came to an abrupt end.

Because Xin Mian was taken away by Zhang Jiandong.

She became the outsider watching the family of three take their family photo.

Less than three months after arriving at her new home, Ge Qiuling no longer concealed her indifference and disgust towards her.

Because she was unwilling, Xinmian could only stand by and watch on the day the family photo was taken.

Zhang Jiandong tried to persuade her, but Ge Qiuling only gave him a look, and he reluctantly shut his mouth.

Even knowing that doing so would be unfair to Xinmian, he still chose to sacrifice her in order to maintain the so-called "harmony" of the family.

Those who documented her growth with photographs suddenly stopped.

Now, having retrieved photo albums from before I was 14, everything else seems unimportant.

Xinmian was in high spirits, flipping through several photo albums again and again.

Chi Yu sat next to her and listened to her talk about her childhood.

A breeze blew in from the balcony. He raised his hand and gently brushed the strands of hair from her temple. His palm then caressed her cheek, and he grasped the back of her neck, pulling her closer.

Their breaths mingled, his high nose bridge touching her nose tip.

"What a pity, if only I had met you sooner."

Xin Mian was caught off guard by his action and was startled when he pulled her. Upon hearing his words, she smiled and her tone was cheerful.

"It's a little regrettable, but it's okay."

"We met, and we're together now."

This is the most wonderful thing.

As she spoke, her eyes shone brightly, meeting his gaze firmly, and dimples appeared on her cheeks, like shimmering ripples on a clear spring.

Chi Yu's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he gently stroked the edge of her dimple with the pad of his thumb.

Their eyes met, and the atmosphere suddenly shifted from warm to ambiguous.

The girl blinked her curled eyelashes and noticed that his breathing had suddenly become heavy, but she did not move away.

Just as his kiss was about to land, a cold wind suddenly swept across his face.

She was startled by the wind and suddenly realized that she was on the outside balcony.

Xin Mian reached out and pressed against his chest, whispering a reminder, "Chi Yu, we're outside..."

The apartment is on the 5th floor, a moderate height; if someone passing by looks up, they might see it.

As she thought this, she cautiously peeked out.

As soon as she made a move, he grabbed her chin and turned her back.

The kiss landed heavily, but ended abruptly.

Xin Mian's face immediately turned red, and she patted his arm, "The housekeeper is still here!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a muffled thud came from a spot in the living room very close to the balcony, like the sound of something hitting a table.

Xin Mian abruptly pushed away Chi Yu's embrace and stood up.

The curtains by the French windows were blown open by the wind, and the awkward gazes of three housekeepers met hers.

Xinmian seemed frozen in place, wishing she could immediately move to another planet to live on.

She only hesitated for a second before grabbing the photo album, bowing her head, and running out.

So embarrassing...

Back in the car, she covered her face, on the verge of tears.

Hearing the driver's side door open and close, she complained bitterly to him.

"Chi Yu, it's all your fault!"

"Yes, it's my fault."

Without making a sound, he locked the car door and took the photo album from her arms, placing it in the back seat.

While she was still in a daze, he grabbed her waist and lifted her from the passenger seat.

The kiss landed quickly, accompanied by his deep, indistinct voice.

"Baby is so good, he went back to the car to kiss me."
