Boundary crossing warning
"Smack!"
A crisp sound echoed in the hotel room.
Yu Sheng, slapped hard and sprawled on the sofa, licked his numb lips. A ridiculous thought popped into his muddled mind: 'Hey! This kid looks refined, but he's got a real knack for it. I wonder what he's like in bed.'
Before Yu Sheng could even process what was happening, the culprit's voice rang out above her head, refreshing and intoxicating like a freshly opened bottle of chilled white wine. If one ignored the undisguised impatience and disgust in the words, it was enough to make one addicted and fall into a daze.
"I've seen plenty of people like you—vain, gloomy, disgusting, and utterly despicable. You've got a few bucks and invested in a few movies, and you expect the actors to be grateful and climb into your beds! Let me tell you, your actions just now constitute the elements of the crime of indecent assault under Article 237 of the Criminal Law. Do I need to explain the sentencing to you?"
"No need, Mr. Lu, no, Mr. Lu, Officer Lu." He dragged out the word "Officer," his tone rising slightly, making it sound like he was being coquettish.
Yu Sheng rubbed her reddened left cheek, tossed her hair back on the sofa, showing no shame or embarrassment at being slapped in the face, her undisguised gaze sweeping over Lu Chenyang.
Her face was a little red; was she drunk or was she angry with him?
The suit was a little wrinkled, from when he had just pressed it down.
His shirt collar was open, and a button was missing—yes, he had just deliberately ripped it off.
She seems genuinely angry. Just fifteen minutes ago she was being very kind to him, but now she looks at him with disgust as if he were a "criminal."
Tonight was supposed to be a dinner for the director of the film "Shattered Light" to raise additional investment for the film. Yu Sheng, as the largest investor, naturally took the head seat. The director was his college classmate, the producer was his friend, and even the fellow investor was his childhood friend whom he had grown up with.
There were at most ten people in the hotel's private room; who would dare to force him to drink? Yet he kept drinking one glass after another until he was completely drunk.
"Mr. Yu, watch your step, let me help you."
Yu Sheng successfully fell into Lu Chenyang's arms, drunk. Everyone present was shrewd; from the start of the dinner, Yu Sheng's gaze had never left this movie star. Several people could tell that the usually sober CEO Yu was here to "sleep in the arms of a beauty," so naturally no one stepped forward to "help" Lu Chenyang.
Lu Chenyang wrapped one arm around Yu Sheng's waist, his large, well-defined hand burning hot through the thin fabric of his shirt, the clear lines of his muscles beneath the fabric and the warmth emanating from within.
The two men were standing so close together that he felt extremely uncomfortable.
"I don't know how this hotel got a five-star rating, the service is terrible!" Lu Chenyang thought angrily, furiously pressing the elevator button with his other hand, wishing he could tear it off. He had walked dozens of meters down the restaurant corridor without a single waiter offering to help him.
"Mr. Yu, which floor is your room on?"
“…Top floor.” Yu Sheng’s voice was light and airy, like a feather brushing against Lu Chenyang’s ear.
Lu Chenyang leaned back, creating a mere few centimeters of safe distance. Once inside the elevator, he asked in a low voice, "Which room on the top floor?"
The person in his arms was so drunk that he was unconscious. He let out a whimper like a small animal and said something that Lu Chenyang couldn't hear clearly. He only felt a tingling sensation in his ears.
Suddenly, two lean, long arms wrapped around his waist, holding him tightly. The furry little head rested against his chest and rubbed against him a couple of times.
Lu Chenyang's throat tightened instantly. His innate aversion to men made his breathing quicken. The person in his arms was burning hot, yet he felt a chill run from his feet to the top of his head. And... disgust.
The rich aroma of sake, mingled with a faint scent of tobacco, slowly rose along Lu Chenyang's taut neck. The arms wrapped around his waist were like explosives, and this aroma was the spark that accelerated the explosion. Just a second before he could no longer restrain himself from throwing the man out, the elevator dinged and arrived at the top floor.
With a sigh of relief, before the elevator doors were fully open, Lu Chenyang grabbed the woman by the waist with one hand and pressed her shoulder with the other, dragging and pulling her out of the elevator.
Looking around, asking which room number was indeed a bit redundant, since there is only one room, 6201, on the entire top floor.
That's incredibly extravagant.
"Hey... wake up." After the farce in the elevator, Lu Chenyang's patience was exhausted, and he had almost no politeness or respect left for the investors. He just wanted to get rid of this trouble as soon as possible.
Seeing that the person was just whimpering in his arms and couldn't say a complete sentence, while constantly rubbing their head against his neck, Lu Chenyang's anger rose rapidly, and he no longer cared about having any dignity left.
He laboriously freed one hand and lightly slapped Yu Sheng's face twice, saying irritably, "Where's the room key?"
"...Hmm"
The person in his arms finally lifted their head from the crook of his neck, and Lu Chenyang breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, they hadn't fallen into a deep sleep.
Having reached the room door, Lu Chenyang suppressed his irritation and asked again, "Where's the room key...?"
But in the next scene, Lu Chenyang didn't get the room card he "longed for". Instead, Yu Sheng turned around and pressed him against the door.
The door slammed shut with a dull thud. Still reeling from the impact, Lu Chenyang hadn't figured out where a drunkard got such strength when he saw Yu Sheng stick her butt out and whisper in his ear, "The room key seems to be in my back pocket. Feel around and see if it's there."
"..."
Hold!
Lu Chenyang almost blurted out a curse: This guy must have done it on purpose!
"Young Master Yu!" These three words were practically squeezed out from between Lu Chenyang's teeth.
That's enough, we can't go too far. Yu Sheng pretended to stagger away from his embrace, blinking as if trying to focus her pupils, which were blurred by drunkenness.
Lu Chenyang was half a head taller than him, standing at 1.89 meters, requiring Yu Sheng to look up slightly. At this moment, that face, jokingly described by netizens as "radiating righteousness, with a determined gaze like someone about to join the Party," was looking down at him condescendingly. His handsome brows were furrowed, his gaze sharp, as if scrutinizing a rebellious little demon.
"Um... I remembered wrong, this... is my private room, there's no room key." Yu Sheng swayed and swayed back into Lu Chenyang's arms, trembling as she raised her right index finger to poke at the door lock, "...but I have my fingerprints."
He poked around with his finger for a long time but still couldn't match the recognition device. He looked up, his eyes reddened with the smell of alcohol and misty. "I'm dizzy and can't see clearly. Can you help me?"
Lu Chenyang rolled his eyes inwardly, and without saying a word, grabbed the waving paw and pressed it against the door lock.
*Beep*—The door is open.
"Mr. Yu, get some rest. I'll be going now."
The moment the door lock opened, Lu Chenyang shoved the person through the crack in the door and turned to leave.
The next second, his wrist was grabbed, and the last thing he wanted to hear came from behind him.
Did I say you could leave?!
The tone was commanding, cold, hard, and low, not like a joke.
Lu Chenyang was stunned and subconsciously stopped in his tracks.
Yu Sheng raised an eyebrow, her upturned eyes curving into a beautiful arc once again, and smiled gently.
"Just kidding." Her tone returned to its usual light and casual manner as she pulled Lu Chenyang's hand tightly into her arms. "How could you leave a drunk person at the door? That's so irresponsible. You should at least have gotten me a glass of water."
His voice was gentle, even tinged with a hint of grievance. Lu Chenyang's strong sense of responsibility prevented him from refusing, and he was inexplicably led to the room by the hand.
The door closed, and Lu Chenyang quickly took two steps to create some distance. "Mr. Yu is drunk. I'll go make you a cup of tea to sober you up."
"No need for tea." Yu Sheng hooked one finger around Lu Chenyang's collar and pulled him closer. "It's more interesting to brew tea with you."
Now Lu Chenyang has confirmed that this guy wasn't drunk at all!
He tried to shove the mischievous hand away, but his throat was suddenly gripped. Then, a pair of lips reeking of alcohol pressed down on his!
The landmine exploded!
His pent-up anger finally broke free of its restraints, and the shrapnel destroyed his last line of defense.
He slapped her across the face!
...
As Lu Chenyang was going downstairs, he bumped into another investor, Lan Zhong. Out of politeness, he greeted him.
As the CEO of Xinghua Media, Lan Zhong has an excellent eye for people and didn't point out his awkwardness, simply responding with a smile.
There was a knock on the door of room 6201, and Yu Sheng shouted, "Who is it!"
"Me. Open the door, don't dawdle."
"You know the password, open it yourself, I'm too lazy to do it."
The room was dark, and with the help of the moonlight streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and the mixed neon lights, Lan Zhong could barely make out a figure.
Yu Sheng sank into the leather sofa, her entire body hidden in the shadows, her beautiful wolf-tail curls cascading down to obscure half her face. The cigarette between her fingers flickered, the bluish-gray smoke winding into transparent ribbons that swirled around her, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that inspired endless reverie.
"What are you staring at? Are you mesmerized by my good looks?"
Damn it! Lan Zhong wanted to slap him across the face. He was so annoying. The beautiful atmosphere just now was shattered by Yu Sheng's words.
"Hey, turn on the light, and get me a bottle of ice water from the fridge."
A bottle of ice water was thrown at her head. Yu Sheng caught it with one hand and pressed it to her face. "Hiss..."
Only after turning on the light did Lan Zhong notice a bright red handprint on Yu Sheng's left cheek. Seeing him grimacing as he applied a cold compress, he couldn't help but feel a smug glint in his eyes. "Oh, what happened to Second Young Master Yu..."
Yu Sheng irritably swatted away Lan Zhong's hand that was reaching out to stroke his hair, "Get lost."
Lan Zhong wasn't angry. The two of them had grown up together, always playing around and roughhousing. He picked up the cigarette pack on the coffee table; it was empty. He simply snatched the half-smoked cigarette from Yu Sheng's hand and put it in his mouth. "I ran into Lu Chenyang when I came up just now. His face was as black as the bottom of a pot."
He exhaled a puff of smoke, ignoring the eye roll Yu Sheng gave him, and continued, "I've met Lu Chenyang; he's a pretty upright person, and a graduate of the police academy. You managed to drive him to the point of hitting someone..."
Lan Zhong glanced at Yu Sheng's flushed face with a mocking smile, "Tsk, Yu Lao Er, you're really something."
"Get lost, stop trying to sarcastic remarks about me." Yu Sheng's slender fingers tapped incessantly on the table, a habitual action he took when he was irritable; he was very unhappy right now.
“If you ask me, if someone offends you, Young Master Yu, you’d chop them in half even if they were an earthworm. He hit you, and you let him leave so easily…” Lan Zhong paused, “This isn’t like you.”
That's right, and that's why he was unhappy.
However, it wasn't because he easily let Lu Chenyang leave, but rather... the moment the slap landed on his face, a series of emotions unfolded: shock, disbelief, then chills, mockery, and finally calm. All the emotions played out in turn, except for the anger that should have been there most.
He was angry because he had no anger.
Having spent so much time together, Lan Zhong could tell what he was thinking with just a glance. He patted him on the shoulder and asked with a slightly serious tone, "Brother, you haven't really fallen for him, have you?"
"Tsk." Yu Sheng rolled her eyes at him. "What do you mean by liking or disliking? I'm just using him as a 'catalyst' to do some 'rehabilitation training'."
He rolled his face in ice water to cool it down, and Lu Chenyang's face appeared in his mind—concerned, impatient, shocked, and furious. He unconsciously curled his lips into a smile.
The smile aggravated the pain in his facial injury, causing him to grimace.
"Speaking of Lu Chenyang, he's good-looking, has a good physique, good acting skills, no scandals... ugh... and he's strong too. It wouldn't be surprising if I liked him."
Lan Zhong reached out and lifted Yu Sheng's chin, examining her from left to right. Yu Sheng's skin was pale and cold. Lu Chenyang's slap had been forceful, and a red mark suddenly appeared on her face. Surprisingly, it gave her a strange charm.
"Tsk tsk tsk, Yu Lao Er, does Lu Chenyang have no flaws in your eyes?" Lan Zhong said with a hint of exasperation.
"Yes," Yu Sheng said lazily, "His biggest flaw is—he doesn't like me."
Lan Zhong snorted and poured himself a glass of wine. "Does that mean he doesn't like you? He doesn't like men. He's homophobic, you know?"
Yu Sheng had actually heard rumors that Lu Chenyang was homophobic, but in the entertainment industry, who can say for sure what's true and what's false?
Just like some people spread rumors that Lu Chenyang debuted through hype, but that's not the case.
Two years ago, a video went viral online. Filmed at a comic convention, the video begins in complete chaos, the camera shakily swaying wildly. A sea of people scatters like fish tossed about by sharks, trying to escape a crazed man wielding a gun. Amidst the chaos, a dark blue police uniform cuts into the frame at an angle, the movement so fast it leaves afterimages.
The photographer was positioned slightly behind, the lens obscured by a bunch of shoulders and heads. By the time the image recaptured that deep blue hue, he had already knelt on one knee, pinning the assailant to the ground, and deftly pulled out silver-gray handcuffs from his lower back.
Then, in that crisp voice, like a freshly opened bottle of chilled white wine, he uttered only one sentence throughout: "Danger cleared."
The video finally freezes on his profile as he slightly raises his head. The shadow cast by his sculpted brow bone makes his eyes appear even deeper and more resolute. His pupils are dark and gleaming, like a blade drawn from its sheath.
Lu Chenyang became an internet sensation because of this "emergency evacuation" video. At first, everyone thought he was a cosplayer dressed as a policeman, but after digging deeper, they were surprised to find that he was actually a third-year student at R University's Police Academy, and that he was at the comic convention for a student-organized anti-fraud awareness campaign.
Even more surprisingly, the "police uniform guy" who had hundreds of thousands of fans on Weibo without a Weibo account completely disappeared at the peak of his popularity: he didn't open an account, didn't do live streams, refused interviews, and declined all invitations from agencies, as if this incident had never happened and he had never existed.
Six months later, hashtags such as #PoliceUniformGirlSignsWithTianhengEntertainment# and #LuChenyangTianhengEntertainment# suddenly dominated the trending topics.
Nobody knows what Lu Chenyang was thinking. Half a year ago, he was at the height of his fame and went into hiding, but after the hype died down, he suddenly announced his signing and debut.
Public opinion was in uproar, and doubts followed. The most jarring comments were: "In the end, he couldn't resist the temptation of money." "Being a policeman is not as lucrative as being a celebrity." "His pretense of integrity and righteousness has been exposed."
But Lu Chenyang seemed completely unconcerned, just like six months ago, ignoring everything and not responding.
He proved himself through his actions, going from supporting roles to leading roles, and won the Best Newcomer Award for his role in the crime drama "Blood Puzzle," with the judges praising him for "capturing the soul of the police uniform."
After that, Lu Chenyang mostly played upright and righteous roles such as police officers, soldiers, and judicial officers. Tianheng Entertainment created the "Industry Entertainment Police Chief" persona for him, which became deeply rooted in people's hearts. The following year, he won the Golden Rooster Award for Best Actor for his film role. However, there were still some harsh voices: "Riding on the coattails of the police," "He's nothing without the police uniform," and "A publicity stunt for his debut."
Yu Sheng was also amazed by the final frame of that comic convention video, but at that time he was too busy to take care of himself and was receiving various treatments all day. Now that he thinks about it, if he had signed him back then, he wouldn't have ended up in such an awkward situation today.
The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get. That damn entertainment industry police chief! He hits someone just because they kissed him. He'll pay back for that slap sooner or later!
"Hey, hey, what are you doing? Grinding your teeth?"
Reminded by Lan Zhongyi, Yu Sheng realized that she had bitten a ring of teeth marks on the water bottle cap.
"Did you even listen to what I just told you? If someone is homophobic, don't go looking for trouble. Haven't you had enough of being beaten?" Lan Zhong said earnestly. He felt like a mother advising her love-struck daughter to stay away from an abusive man, her heart breaking.
"Rumors in the entertainment industry are a mix of truth and falsehood," Yu Sheng scoffed. "There are even rumors that we're a couple. Do you believe them?"
"Alright, alright, I can't argue with you. I'm just here to tell you not to forget to go to Old Bai's for a check-up tomorrow. Get your PTSD treated as soon as possible, or you might become truly impotent."
"Get out, get out, get out." Yu Sheng kicked Lan Zhong in the waist. "Can't you wish me well for once?"
After shooing Lan Zhong away, Yu Sheng pulled out her phone, which had fallen into the sofa cushions. Sure enough, there were several missed calls from someone whose contact name was Lao Bai. Calculating the time, tomorrow was indeed the day for the follow-up review.
I washed myself and threw myself onto the bed. Tsk… I couldn't sleep. I fumbled for my phone in the dark, opened the hidden photo album, entered the password, and played the only video inside. A voice, as clear as chilled white wine, rang out in the darkness: “Danger cleared.”
Hmm... I can fall asleep now.
