Chapter 184 The Mysterious School of Fish

The sound of a diesel engine grew louder as it approached, and soon enough, the boat driven by Boss Fu and Fu Liang arrived in front of Fu Wan and the others.

"Father, how was the harvest?"

Boss Fu chuckled, "I hauled in a few nets of bamboo knife fish and made back the money for the fuel."

Fu Wan quickly comforted her, "It's okay, this is just the beginning. We'll drive further away later and we're sure to get a huge online buzz."

Boss Fu wasn't too worried. That's how it is when you go out to sea. Not every time you have a great catch. If you don't end up with nothing, it's a blessing from the Goddess Mazu.

Fu Ming, Fu Liang, and Ye Lin walked behind. When Ye Lin saw Fu Wan holding a fishing rod, he went up to her out of curiosity.

"Wan, have you caught any fish yet?"

Fu Wan pointed to Ye Xiaocui, who was cleaning fish nearby, "Look, isn't this it? Two sea bass!"

Ye Lin then noticed that her aunt was cleaning fish next to her, and suddenly felt very hungry.

As soon as Fu Ming and Fu Liang got off the boat, Fu Ling ran over and pulled Fu Ming away.

"Uncle, look! My sister A-Yun, Mom, and I caught a really beautiful fish!"

"What a beautiful fish! Uncle, take a look... Holy crap!"

Fu Ming and Fu Liang were originally there to assist Fu Ling and Fu Yun with their performance, but they never expected that such an unusual East Star Grouper would be found in such an inconspicuous little bucket.

"Ah Wan, that's impressive! Where did you catch that Eastern Star Grouper?"

Putting everything else aside, the price of this fish is probably equivalent to the price of a whole net of ribbonfish they caught.

Fu Wan raised her eyebrows and said modestly, "I caught it in the trench next to us. The two children saw it."

"Hey, that's how luck is when it comes, you can't stop it."

Ye Lin became curious after hearing what they said. Fu Liang told him about the value of the Eastern Star Spot, and he suddenly realized and gave a thumbs up.

"Wan, you guys are really amazing!"

"It's just so-so!"

"Come and eat breakfast, stop joking!"

As they were talking, Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan had already cooked breakfast.

Fu Wan took her two children to wash their hands by the sea trench. When she walked to the stainless steel pot, she was amazed to see what a lavish feast it was.

Everything was simply blanched in plain water. There was a large bowl of mantis shrimp, a large bowl of clams, and two fish steaming in the pot.

Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan were also remarkable people. When they boarded the ship, they brought two or three plates and a lot of chopsticks with them, just so they could have a hot meal outside.

You know, back when Boss Fu and his crew went out to sea, they could only eat some flatbread and cornbread. It wasn't a problem when the weather was hot, but when it was cold, the cornbread was so hard it could break your teeth!

Last time, Fu Wan brought a stainless steel pot and cooked some noodles. I must say, it tasted a million times better than what we eat at home!

So Ye Xiaocui figured it out. Anyway, there was plenty of firewood available outside. It was just that because it rained yesterday, they had searched for a long time before finding some dry branches that weren't too wet.

We didn't realize it until we saw the cooked seafood, and then everyone felt hungry.

So Fu Wan took two mantis shrimp, peeled them, and handed them to Fu Ling and Fu Yun.

"Thank you, Mom!"

Fu Ling took it and ate it with great relish. Fu Yun also smiled at Fu Ling with her eyebrows arched.

Fu Wan peeled one herself. Although there was no seasoning, the shrimp had the salty taste of the sea. After being boiled, they retained their original sweetness and were indeed delicious!

Before leaving in the early morning, Ye Xiaocui and the others made a lot of pancakes. Fu Laoda, Ye Lin and the other big men had big appetites, and this amount of shrimp was not enough for them to finish.

After everyone had eaten breakfast, the clams on the beach had been dug up to a sufficient number. Fu Ming and Fu Liang poured a bucket of seawater into the pile of stones they had just lit a fire, in case the sparks were blown by the wind into the pile of dry grass and burned the island.

Seeing that everyone was resting well, Boss Fu waved his hand and told everyone to board the boat and prepare to start today's fishing operation.

Fortunately, the weather wasn't too hot today, and the sun kept hiding behind thick clouds. Plus, there was a bit of a breeze, making it quite pleasant.

The arrangement for the two boats remained similar to before: Fu Ming, Fu Liang, and Ye Lin were on one boat, while Fu Laoda, Fu Wan, Ye Xiaocui, Jiang Chunlan, and the two children were on another boat.

Fu Ling and Fu Yun moved all the seashells they had collected on the island to the deck. Fu Wan helped them wash them clean, and the two children sat on the edge of the cabin playing with the seashells.

"Dad, look, there are so many seabirds over there!"

Fu Wan was admiring the scenery at sea when she saw flocks of seabirds circling above the water, occasionally swooping down to the surface and then taking off again.

There are fish here!

Fu Wan quickly shouted to Fu Laoda, "Dad, drive that way, there are schools of fish there!"

"good!"

Boss Fu responded. He didn't have Fu Wan's sharp eyes, and it took him a long time to spot the seabirds circling in the distance.

He was both amazed by Fu Wan's excellent eyesight and somewhat disappointed, wondering if he was really getting old.

"Father, we've never been to that area before, what are we going there for?!"

Fu Liang followed behind in his boat, and Fu Ming shouted at the top of his lungs.

The diesel engine was loud and hard to hear, but since the two ships were not far apart, Boss Fu felt much better after hearing Fu Ming's words.

Alright, this isn't about being old or not, his silly son didn't even see it!

"Just follow me, that's all! Stop with the nonsense!"

Boss Fu shouted loudly, saying that speaking across a ship at sea was really hard on the throat.

Within minutes, Fu Wan and her group's boat got closer and closer to the flock of seabirds.

When they got closer, not only Fu Wan, but even Boss Fu could see the rolling school of fish.

"Prepare to lower the trawl net!"

Fu Wan hurriedly called out, and Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan, upon hearing this, also prepared to open the fishing net and throw it overboard.

Fu Ming and Ye Lin, who were on the boat next to them, also took out their fishing nets.

Why are there so many fish here?

Fu Wan couldn't make out the fish's appearance. It was already past nine in the morning, which wasn't the time for fish to be swimming on the surface.

Before they could even throw the fishing net in, she had her answer in the next second.

"Waaah!"

A pod of orcas broke the surface, chasing a school of fish while making joyful noises.

Fu Wan hadn't seen orcas in a long time, and she didn't know if this group of orcas was the same one she had encountered before.

"Dad, get around them, don't let them get into our fishing nets!"

Boss Fu responded, but he didn't dare to drive any further. These guys were not to be trifled with.

But things always take unexpected turns. Perhaps the red flag on Boss Fu's ship was too conspicuous, or perhaps the sound of the diesel engine disturbed the group of orcas.

A killer whale broke away from the pod and swam straight toward Fu Wan and her group's boat.

She kept whimpering as she swam.

Fu Wan was a little puzzled; this one didn't look like the little orca that had been clinging to her before.

To confirm, she whistled the same tune she used when playing with the baby orca. The next second, the orca leaped out of the water joyfully, then crashed back down, the spray hitting Fu Wan's face.

It really is that little guy!
