Chapter 183 Reunion with Dongxingban

Upon hearing this, Fu Wan stopped digging for sand worms and hurriedly ran to Fu Ling and the others.

Fu Ling was jumping and skipping excitedly beside a trench, while Fu Yun was also staring intently at the fish in the trench, her hands clenched into fists with excitement.

If Fu Wan hadn't repeatedly warned them not to touch the seawater, these two little ones would have jumped into the trench to catch fish on their own.

"Mom, look!"

"A-Yun heard the sound of fish, and then we found it together!"

Fu Wan had just run over and was still catching her breath when Fu Ling grabbed her hand and started pointing at the fish in the trench and shouting.

The fish in the trench seemed to sense danger. Suddenly, it turned its head and its raised tail splashed seawater everywhere.

"Oh dear, this fish is so naughty!"

Fu Ling was so angry that her cheeks puffed out. Fu Wan didn't care about the seawater at all; all she could see was this grouper!

Yes, this is a grouper, weighing at least two pounds. Look at that bright red color and familiar spots. It's the first valuable fish that Fu Wan sold when she came back – a red grouper!

"Lingling, Yunyun, you two are really amazing!"

After praising the two children, Fu Wan stepped directly into the trench.

The area where the trench connects to the sea is at a higher elevation, so it's impossible for the fish to swim back to the sea with the current.

It's estimated that when it rained heavily and the wind was strong yesterday, the waves washed it up and carried it into this trench.

Fortunately, they met it at sea today; otherwise, with such a strong sun, the seawater in the trench would have evaporated, and this grouper would have been baked to death in the trench.

Hey, thank goodness they came today!

If you're destined to be with fish, there's no escaping it!

Fu Wan's fish-catching skills were honed from a young age. She placed her hands in the seawater and silently approached the grouper. Then, she swiftly attacked the fish's head and tail, grabbing its vital parts tightly with both hands and lifting the fish directly out of the water.

"Wow, Mom, you're amazing!"

It was the first time Fu Ling had ever seen her mother catch fish, and she clapped her hands with pride.

Fu Yun happily followed along, and the little ones' commotion quickly attracted Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan, who were digging for sandworms and clams not far away.

"What are you all doing... Oh my god!"

Ye Xiaocui was wondering what was going on, but when she came over, she saw the big fish her daughter was holding.

"Wait, wait, isn't that the Eastern Star Spotted Spot?!"

Jiang Chunlan picked up a small bucket next to her, turned out all the sandworms and clams inside, and then quickly filled the trench with about half a bucket of water. "Awan, put the fish here."

Fu Wan was looking for something to put the fish in when she didn't expect Jiang Chunlan to move so quickly.

"Auntie, you're pretty good! You reacted quickly!"

Jiang Chunlan raised her eyebrows at the praise, "Of course! With this grouper, who cares about these sandworms and clams!"

Fu Wan was amused by her, but she still had to put the things she had dug up back in the end. Ye Xiaocui took out a snakeskin bag from her belongings and put all the sandworms and other things on the ground into the snakeskin bag.

"Hey, I wonder how things are going with your dad and the others. All the buckets we brought are full."

Fu Wanke could hear the Versailles-like quality in Ye Xiaocui's words; there was no greater joy for fishermen than this.

With all her belongings already packed away, Fu Wan caught two octopuses, each about half the size of a fist, by the sea. Coincidentally, she had brought a fishing rod with her when she disembarked, so she decided to use the octopuses as bait to catch two fish for breakfast.

"Wan, why are you cutting off octopus tentacles?"

Ye Xiaocui saw Fu Wan take out a small knife from her pocket and then cut off several of the octopus's struggling tentacles.

The scene was too bloody. Fu Wan glanced at it and thankfully the two children hadn't seen it. "I'll take it and see if I can catch a couple of fish."

Since Boss Fu and the others haven't returned yet, she might as well try out the new bamboo fishing rod that Boss Fu made.

Ye Xiaocui didn't dampen her spirits, but cheerfully said, "Perfect timing, your auntie dug up a lot of mantis shrimp, and I was just about to cook them in a stainless steel pot to make something for Lingling and Yunyun to eat."

The mother and daughter were thinking the same thing. Fu Wan cut off several pieces of each of the two octopus tentacles, then cut them into lengths about half the size of a finger, and then threaded them onto the fishhook.

Once the bait is on the hook, simply cast it into the seawater.

Fu Wan didn't have any small fish or shrimp to bait the area, so she could only sit there and occasionally lift her fishing rod slightly to prevent the hook from getting caught on the rocks next to her as the seawater flowed by.

The most important thing in fishing is patience, and that's exactly what Fu Wan has in abundance.

The fishing rod in her hand was made from bamboo that Boss Fu had cut and laid out in the yard to dry. Although it was dry, it still had some weight to it.

Just as Fu Wan was admiring the beautiful scenery of the sea, she felt the fishing rod in her hand suddenly sink, followed by a pulling force coming from the other end of the rod.

The fish is on the plate!

Fu Wan pulled the fishing rod hard with both hands, and sure enough, a sea bass the size of a palm was biting the hook and struggling desperately.

"Mom, I caught a fish!"

She was wearing gloves that Ye Xiaocui had prepared for her, in case she got pricked by fish fins or sea snails.

Fu Wan carefully removed the sea bass from the hook and placed it in the bucket next to her.

The bucket contained the grouper from earlier. Noticing that there was another fish in the bucket, the grouper cautiously swam to the side and then flicked its tail at the sea bass.

The poor sea bass had barely recovered from being pulled off the hook when it was slapped so hard it was disoriented and its belly turned up, looking like it was about to die.

Hey, this grouper really has a temper.

But there's nothing we can do right now; there's nothing else we can use to separate the fish.

Fu Wan then baited the hook and cast the line.

Just then, a flock of seabirds flew over the sea, and the rumbling sound of diesel engines came from afar.

"Is it your dad and the others who are back?"

Ye Xiaocui squinted and looked into the distance, but after a long time, all she could see was the azure sea.

"It's my dad and the others who are back!"

Because Fu Wan was standing further away, her eyesight was much better than Yu Xiaocui's.

From afar, she saw the red flag in the distance; wasn't that her own ship?

I wonder how much Fu and his team have gained!

Just as she was thinking this, the fishing rod in her hand suddenly sank again.

Good heavens, another fish has been caught!

Fu Wan lifted the fishing rod, which startled Ye Xiaocui, who hadn't seen Fu Wan catch a fish earlier.

"You actually know how to catch fish!"

It turns out her mother didn't believe her. This time, another sea bass was brought out, but it was much bigger than the previous one, probably weighing more than a pound.

Now Fu Wan didn't need to unhook the fish; Ye Xiaocui was nearby and simply grabbed the fish and unhooked it.

The small green fish leaves that had been removed were no longer put into the bucket.

"Your dad and the others are back too. I'll go kill these two fish and steam them for everyone to eat!"
