Chapter 540 Hot Buns

Fu San got up around 4 a.m. Because Fu Shi wasn't there, he had to ask his mother-in-law to look after his wife while he waited at the dock on his tricycle.

On the one hand, they wanted to see if there was any cargo to collect on the fishing boats returning to the dock; on the other hand, they wanted to wait for Fu Wan's boat to return.

As they got closer to the dock, Boss Fu felt a sense of triumph, and in his excitement, he even honked the boat's horn.

"You know what, the horn on this new ship sounds really great!"

Fu San, completely wrapped up, turned to Old Li beside him and said.

Old Li nodded in deep agreement, "How could it not be awesome? This boat must cost tens of thousands!"

"Really? This ship costs tens of thousands? Mr. Fu is really rich!"

The villagers who were buying vegetables and watching the commotion at the dock started gossiping. Old Li felt he had been too talkative, so he added a couple more comments.

"Whether you're rich or poor, if you want to buy it, you can get approval from the bank, as long as you can pay it back!"

The man shook his head upon hearing this, "Being in debt is a terrible feeling. You have to wear shoes that fit your feet. This boat will take me a lifetime to pay back!"

Amidst the murmurs, the boat beneath Fu Wan's feet gradually slowed down. Once the boat had come to a stop, Fu Wan disembarked with her two children.

"Ah Wan, have a steamed bun first. How was your day?"

Fu San shoved the steamed buns he had just bought at the dock stall into Fu Wan's arms, his eyes eagerly fixed on the ship.

Fu Wan was amused by his appearance and took the bun without hesitation.

"Third Uncle, hurry up and get people to unload the cargo. All three boats are loaded with fish, you're going to be busy for a while today."

Upon hearing this, Fu San immediately waved to the young man beside him.

"Go, go, go! Once the ship has come to a stop, everyone get on board and unload the cargo."

He had already arranged with the dockworkers who were waiting for work, and he would pay them to help with unloading.

Fu Wan handed one steamed bun to each of Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu. The buns were from a newly opened breakfast stall at the dock, and the outer bag was made of kraft paper.

Fu San was careless and only bought a large bag of steamed buns. Fu Wan thought about it and then went to the side to ask for two bowls of soy milk.

A bowl of hot soy milk this morning warmed me up completely.

"Eat quickly, then go home and get some sleep."

The two kids got up at 3 a.m. and have been playing on the deck ever since.

Right now, I'm even starting to feel sleepy while walking.

Seeing that Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan had also disembarked, Fu Wan quickly greeted them.

"Auntie, Mother, come and have some breakfast."

Everyone's exhausted right now. It would be best to have breakfast at a food stall, so they can go home and rest after unloading.

Ye Xiaocui and Jiang Chunlan were always reluctant to eat out, especially since the steamed buns at the dock were expensive, with meat buns costing ten cents and large steamed buns costing five cents.

"No need, I'll just grab something to eat when I get back."

Fu Wan wouldn't listen to her, so she could only lie, "Mother, hurry up and go. I've already paid!"

It's not easy to ask someone for the money back once it's been taken, especially since the person running the breakfast stall is a villager from the same village.

Ye Xiaocui had no choice but to sit down with Jiang Chunlan next to Fu Ling and the others.

Fu Wan, with a steamed bun in her mouth, ran to the steamer. "Auntie, please get my mom and Aunt Jiang a bowl of tofu pudding and half a pound of fried dough sticks. Also, give me two meat buns. And then get me ten meat buns and two pounds of fried dough sticks!"

"Oh, and get eight more bags of soy milk!"

Fu Wan roughly counted them, and Aunt Hua, who sells breakfast, immediately beamed with joy upon hearing the series of numbers.

"Wan, can we eat all of this?"

"There's plenty to eat, there are so many people!"

Fu Wan didn't calculate the cost and simply took out a ten-yuan note.

"Auntie, keep this money. My dad and the others will come over to eat later if they're still hungry. If it's not enough, just let me know."

"Wow, this won't even cost a ten-thousand-yuan note for a month! That's enough!"

Aunt Hua's husband had a leg problem, and the villagers called him Second Cripple, while Fu Wan called him Second Uncle.

Although Fu Er was lame, his hands were very nimble.

They immediately packed a large amount of breakfast for Fu Wan with Aunt Hua, and Fu Wan felt that it was quite heavy to carry.

"Fang Min, stop moving, come and have breakfast!"

Fu Wan pulled Fang Min over as she put down a basket of fish, but Fang Min shook her head, "Thank you, but wait a bit, I'll finish what I'm doing first."

Fu Wan couldn't let her keep busy; no matter how capable she was, she was still a young girl about the same age as herself.

Without saying a word, she stuffed two steamed buns and a bag of soy milk into her hands.

"Eat first, then we'll get back to work!"

She then delivered the food to Boss Fu and the others again. When it was Fu Dayong's turn, he froze on the spot.

"Me...I have one too!"

After returning to the village, Fu Wan had no dealings with him. Seeing that Fu Dayong was still standing there dumbfounded, she simply stuffed everything into Fu Liang's hands.

"Brother Liang, you can divide it up. I'm going back now."

Fu Liang nodded upon hearing this, "Alright, we'll take care of things here, so don't worry!"

After Fu Wan walked away, Fu Liang cut the bun in his arms in half and immediately started eating it.

"I must say, Aunt Hua's steamed buns taste just as good as those from state-run restaurants!"

Upon hearing this, Fu Dayong quickly wiped his hands, took a big bite of the bun, and left.

In an instant, the aroma of meat and dough exploded in his mouth, and he felt that he had never eaten such delicious buns.

"Liang... these steamed buns aren't cheap, are they?"

Fu Liang finished the two buns in his hand in a few bites. "It should cost a dime or two. Hurry up and eat, then we can continue."

Upon hearing this, Fu Dayong quickly finished the bun in his hand, and then carefully wrapped the other meat bun in brown paper.

"What's wrong? Are you full?"

Fu Liang was a little confused, while Fu Dayong's face flushed slightly. "No, these buns are delicious. I'm saving one for my wife."

"I never would have guessed you were such a doting husband!"

Fu Dayong chuckled, finished his soy milk, and then got up to get back to work.

Fu Liang was unwittingly shown a display of affection, and he was thinking that after he finished his work, he would find two good-looking fish and send them to his fiancée's family.

The constant flow of fish on the boat attracted the villagers to gather around and watch the excitement. Fu Wan simply picked out some fish for her family to eat, and also gave two jin of small yellow croakers to Old Li before turning around and going home.

As for weighing the fish, with Boss Fu and the others keeping an eye on things, she didn't bother to join in the fun.

After a busy night, she felt like she could fall asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

The same was true for the two children; when Fu Wan opened her eyes again, it was already past one o'clock in the afternoon.

Hearing voices outside, Fu Wan rubbed her forehead, got dressed, and went out. To her surprise, she saw two unexpected people as soon as she stepped out of the door.

"An Ning, Bai Qianzhou?"

"Ah Wan, you're awake?"

Qin Anning greeted him with a smile, while Bai Qianzhou looked at her just-woke-up appearance and his eyes darkened.

"Why are you here?"

Qin Anning handed over an envelope, "Of course, I've brought you good news!"
