Chapter 541 Installing the Radio

Fu Wan was puzzled and hurriedly opened the envelope to read it.

This is a properly formatted document, with even a red stamp from the camp in the lower right corner.

As Fu Wan read through the document, she became increasingly shocked.

"Really? The camp is going to install radios for us?"

Qin Anning nodded. "It's true. My torpedo project has already been submitted for review. This morning, Chief Sun told me that the team has a few obsolete radios, and he was thinking of installing them on your ship."

Qin Anning hadn't gone into detail about Sun Shaoping's original words, but what he said was that Fu Wan's luck was absolutely incredible. If they installed a radio for her, they could not only track their location if they encountered any trouble at sea, but also contact the camp immediately.

Of course, these radios were also modified; the secrets about the camp were removed, and they were actually used as general-purpose radio locators on fishing boats a few years later.

However, since other general-purpose radios were still in production, Fu Wan used one first.

This can be considered a reward from the camp for the previous contributions made by Fu Wan's family.

In response, Sun Shaoping gave Qin Anning and Bai Qianzhou half a day off so they could install a radio for Fu Wan.

Fu Wan was naturally grateful for Sun Shao-ping's decision.

She had previously lamented at the shipyard that there was no radio on board, so she would have to shout to talk to Fu Ming and the others at sea.

Now things are much better; having radio would make things much more convenient.

"Don't stand there, sit down and have something to eat."

Ye Xiaocui didn't know anything about wired or wireless communication. Everyone was exhausted when she came back this morning, and she didn't open her eyes until after 12 o'clock.

Unexpectedly, Qin Anning and Bai Qianzhou arrived just as the food was being prepared.

"You guys haven't eaten yet?"

Qin Anning was shocked. It was already noon when they finished handing over their items at the camp this morning, so she and Bai Qianzhou had just eaten something at the canteen.

It's already past one o'clock, and the Fu family still hasn't had lunch.

Fu Wan smiled upon hearing this, "I went out to sea last night and only returned this morning."

"Anning, why don't you sit down and eat some more?"

As they were talking, Fu Ming brought out two bowls of food from the kitchen.

He actually got up about ten minutes earlier than Fu Wan, and when he saw Qin Anning return, he happily ran to the kitchen and cooked two more dishes.

"Eating again, huh... I..."

Qin Anning was a little embarrassed. She wasn't the type to gain weight easily, but with the vegetables that Fu Ming and Fu Wan often sent over in the past two months, she had unknowingly gained two or three pounds.

Bai Qianzhou wasn't as conflicted as her; she simply rolled up her sleeves and turned to walk towards the kitchen.

"I'll go wash the dishes."

Qin Anning couldn't refuse now, so she quickly put down everything she had brought.

"Then I'll wipe the table!"

"No need, no need, I'll do it in a bit."

Fu Mingfei ran over quickly, but Fu Wan didn't care about them at all. She carefully folded the paper, put it in the envelope, and then turned around and went back into the house to put it in the cabinet.

Before eating, Fu Wan washed up, as she still felt a slight taste in her mouth after taking a nap.

Lunch consisted mostly of fish caught the night before, and the fish soup was made with the greenfin bream that we caught earlier. The taste was absolutely delicious.

Qin Anning originally said she would only eat a little, but in the end she ate more than half a bowl of rice. Bai Qianzhou did the same, filling a whole bowl.

Fortunately, Ye Xiaocui had planned to cook dinner together, so she steamed a lot of rice, which turned out to be just right for lunch.

After lunch, Ye Xiaocui called Jiang Chunlan over. Fu Liang and Fu Ming's two boats had caught quite a few flounders. It was a bit windy these past two days, so they cleaned the fish and dried them.

Flounder is a type of flatfish with a relatively flat body. It likes to lie flat on the seabed, with one side black and the other white. Flounder doesn't fetch a high price when sold directly; Fu San buys it for three cents a pound. Because there were so many flounder from the two fishing boats yesterday, Jiang Chunlan and Ye Xiaocui discussed in the morning that they kept two baskets to dry into fish jerky.

This fish has only one main bone, and its flesh is delicate. After being dried, it's pan-fried and eaten. In the cold winter, one dried fish can make several bowls of porridge. In a word, it's delicious! Before drying the fish, you have to remove the gills and gut it, wash it clean, and then cut it. It takes some time and effort. Fortunately, Jiang Chunlan and Ye Xiaocui didn't have much to do, so they were busy with these tasks in the yard.

"Mom, you go ahead with your work. I'm going to the dock with Anning and the others. I'll come back to push the fish later."

After having dinner with Fu Ming, Fu Laoda went to deliver fish to the cannery. Fu Wan was thinking of sending the cleaned fish to the dock later.

Flounder should be dried on the dockside, where the wind is strong, making it the perfect place to air dry.

Old Li is watching over the dock. With such strong winds and sunshine, they can be stored away after a couple of days of drying.

If you leave it at home, not only will it attract flies, but Wangcai (the dog) will also have to watch it every day and drool over it.

"Go ahead, go ahead, I'm watching the child too."

Ye Xiaocui waved her hand, turned around and went into the kitchen to get a knife to kill the fish.

As Fu Wan and Qin Anning walked to the dock, many villagers greeted them along the way.

Fang Min took Fu Qing to find Jiang Wanghai, but unexpectedly they ran into each other.

"Ah Wan, are we going out to sea again?"

Fang Min was unaware of Fu Wan's usual sea voyages, and seeing her with two people, she couldn't help but ask.

Fu Wan chuckled, "Even if I were a ruthless tyrant, I couldn't make you go out to sea every day. This is Bai Qianzhou and Qin Anning. I'm going to the dock with them to take care of some business."

Fang Min was still planning to go to the dock to find Fu Wan after finishing her class with Jiang Wanghai, but she was relieved to hear this.

She shook hands and greeted Bai Qianzhou and Qin Anning before leaving with Fu Qing.

"This Comrade Fang is actually a soldier?"

Upon hearing Bai Qianzhou's question, Fu Wan nodded slightly.

"Yes, she was introduced by Leader Zhao. I thought she was a good worker, so I asked her to come with me to sea. She's also in charge of the aquaculture."

Bai Qianzhou felt relieved upon hearing this. Zhao Gang hadn't mentioned this to him, but judging from Fang Min's demeanor just now, she seemed to be an upright person.

The group arrived at the dock in a few minutes. Bai Qianzhou instinctively walked towards the old ship, but was stopped by Fu Wan after only a few steps.

"Comrade Bai, this way!"

Seeing the direction Fu Wan pointed, Bai Qianzhou and Qin Anning were both dumbfounded.

"Did you get a new boat at home?"

Fu Wanyun nodded calmly and immediately led them onto the boat.

"This ship was ordered beforehand, and the shipyard was quick; it was delivered to me just a few days ago."

After the three arrived at the cockpit, Bai Qianzhou opened the cloth bag he had brought.

It contained radio components, which he and Qin Anning had to assemble together.

Actually, he did most of the work, with Qin Anning providing guidance. Fu Wan watched from the side, and in less than half an hour, the wireless equipment was set up.

"Sizzle sizzle..."

A hissing sound came from the black box, much to Fu Wan's surprise.

Qin Anning glanced at the remaining parts in the bag. "These parts can also be used to install a radio, which is just enough for the other ship."

"One ship? But I have two more ships."
