While processing the shells, Fu Wan explained to Wen Yue that since they had just been dug up, these moon shells inevitably had some mud and sand on them.
They broke them apart one by one, rinsed them with seawater, and then placed them on the steaming tray in the stainless steel pot.
At this point, Ye Xiaocui placed the sweet potato noodles that she had just soaked in boiling water on top of the scallop meat, and finally scooped a spoonful of her homemade garlic sauce onto the noodles.
Soon, the water in the pot began to boil, and the aroma of minced garlic and scallops instantly blended together, making Wen Yue and Su Ran's eyes widen with delight.
"My goodness, it smells so good! Wan, where did you learn to put vermicelli and sauce on scallops like this? I've never had this at any seafood restaurant in the city!"
Su Ran swallowed hard, and seeing her drooling, Fu Wan laughed.
"I learned it in another city. They originally used Longkou vermicelli, but I couldn't buy it, so I used sweet potato vermicelli instead. The taste might be a little different. Please bear with me later."
"I can't forgive you, but I can eat a few more of you."
Su Ran made a joke, which amused Fu Wan. She picked out the largest clam meat from the bucket, washed it, and then sliced it thinly on the cutting board that Ye Xiaocui had brought down.
"The steamed food will take a while to arrive. Would you like to try the sashimi first?"
"Sashimi? That sounds good!"
Su Ran picked up her chopsticks without hesitation, while Wen Yue hesitated.
She had heard of sashimi, but having heard of it, she had never tried eating it raw.
The fact that the scallop meat was still twitching slightly made Wen Yue even more terrified.
Fu Wan noticed Wen Yue's expression; it was normal for someone who had never eaten raw meat to have such a reaction.
She picked up her chopsticks and explained to Wen Yue, "Actually, sashimi such as fish, shrimp, and sea snails is very common in our coastal area because seafood itself has a fresh flavor, and many kinds of seafood taste better as sashimi than when steamed."
I didn't like it when I first tried it, but when I ate tuna later, I thought the taste and texture were even better than ice cream in Shanghai.
You can try it. It's okay if you don't like the taste; just spit it out.
Fu Wan spoke sincerely, but Su Ran next to her didn't listen at all. She couldn't wait to pick up a slice of meat with her chopsticks, dip it in some sauce, and then stuff it into her mouth.
"Wow, this is the taste! The seafood here is so fresh. I can't find seafood this good in the city or the county!"
After saying that, she picked up another piece with her chopsticks, and Fu Wan also smiled and tasted a piece. She guessed right, the sashimi of the moon clam was indeed delicious. Not only did it not have any fishy smell, but it was also very fresh and sweet.
"Mom, have a bite too."
"Okay, I'll give it a try."
Ye Xiaocui happily picked up her chopsticks. Fu Ling and Qin Mingzhu were watching Boss Fu and the others deal with the wild boar and weren't around.
Seeing that everyone present was eating so heartily, Wen Yue couldn't resist either.
She imitated Fu Wan and Su Ran, picked up the remaining slices of meat, dipped them in the sauce, and then mustered her courage, closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and stuffed them into her mouth, chewing them twice.
The next second, Wen Yue opened her eyes in surprise. The moon clam in her mouth was crisp and chewy, and the taste and sweetness were something she had never tasted before.
Fu Wan noticed the change in her expression and couldn't help but smile smugly, "How is it? Delicious, isn't it?"
Wen Yue nodded repeatedly, "Delicious! It's a flavor I never expected!"
After saying that, she asked again, "Awan, can I bring these scallops on the train? I'd like to take some back for my family to try!"
Fu Wan looked regretful and shook her head, "You can't bring fresh ones with you. This kind of stuff will probably go bad before you even get on the bus."
"That's such a pity."
Wen Yue was extremely disappointed, but the next second, Fu Wan's words rekindled her hope.
"However, you can take some dried goods back with you. You can't wait for this batch of clams. My family also has some dried scallop meat that we prepared earlier. You can take some of that back with you."
"Okay, then I definitely want to take some with me."
Wen Yue was overjoyed. "But let's make it clear first, we have to calculate based on the market price. You can't say you won't take the money this time!"
"Since you've put it that way, how could I dare not accept it!"
Fu Wan was helpless, and Su Ran quickly interjected, "Awan, I want one too, I'll pay for it too."
"Don't worry, we have everything. Even if we don't have it, we can take these back, dry them, and send them to you."
"Hehe, I have to send it or bring it with me."
Su Ran didn't mince words, "My family members are a bunch of gluttons; they can eat any amount of seafood!"
Perfect timing. It will take time to send it to the city. By the time she finishes eating what she brought back, the one she sent should have arrived too.
Hey, no wonder Su Ran is so smart!
The women chatted and laughed on one side, while the men on the other side kept talking to each other.
Fu Laoda went back onto the boat and found a few more usable knives. The three of them then placed the wild boar on a huge reef and prepared to chop it into eight pieces.
"Uncle, is this wild boar meat delicious?"
Looking at the bright red meat of the wild boar, Wang Shuo couldn't help but ask.
Boss Fu chuckled, picked up his knife, and asked.
"You've never eaten wild boar meat?"
Wang Shuo shook his head honestly.
"No, I've only ever eaten domestic pork sold by the supply and marketing cooperative."
"Haha, then you'll be able to eat soon."
Fu Ming laughed as he used a short knife to shave the wild boar.
To be honest, the bristles of this wild boar were really tough. Even though he brought over half a bucket of boiling water from Ye Xiaocui, he still couldn't manage to scrape off much hair.
But he felt it was a waste to just peel off the pigskin.
"Dad, how about we deal with this fur when we get back?"
Fu Laoda straightened up and looked at the long hair on the wild boar. After thinking for a moment, he said, "We don't need to go back yet. You and Xiao Wang go and collect some firewood later. I'll just singe off the hair with fire."
"Okay, then I won't shave."
Fu Ming washed the short knife clean and then wiped it into the scabbard.
This knife was also given to him by Ye Jianguo. He and Fu Wan each had one, and they usually used it for fishing and hunting. Now, the blade is covered in hair from scraping pig bristles, and it pains him to see it like that.
After finally managing to split the wild boar in two, Fu Wan's lunch was also ready.
Among the fish that Fu Laoda and his two companions caught were several stone goby fish. Ye Xiaocui poured some oil into the stainless steel pot, fried the fish until fragrant, added water as a base, and cooked a pot of fragrant fish soup noodles.
While the noodles were cooking, Fu Wan also cut some wild boar meat, then found some branches in the woods and shaved them into long skewers. She then had Su Ran and Wen Yue skewer them and set up a simple table to make barbecue skewers.
Although the wild boar meat wasn't marinated much, luckily they had chili powder on their boat, so they sprinkled some on, and the aroma was absolutely divine.
Everyone enjoyed lunch, especially Wang Shuo and Fu Ming. After finishing the skewers Fu Wan made, they went and cut some meat from the wild boar's rump.
