Chapter 7

Wei Lan was full of anger, and rushed into her sister Wei Wan's house, slamming the door shut, which scared Wei Wan. She asked angrily, "Sister, when did Mu Nanhe get married? Why didn't you tell me? You knew I was interested in him, but you didn't help me!" Her cheeks flushed, and her chest rose and fell violently, obviously she was very angry.

Wei Wan was busy at the sewing machine with a big belly at this time. She was a little confused by her sister's sudden anger. She stopped her work, looked up, and explained helplessly: "I heard that Captain Mu got married when he was in his hometown. I really didn't know that. He was on a one-year mission, and he brought his wife to the family compound when he came back. I just found out about this."

When Wei Lan heard this, she was even more furious. She stamped her feet and raised her voice: "He is so outstanding, why did he marry a country woman? She is not worthy of him! Look at Yang Qingyan, she is dressed in rags, thin and weak, how can she catch Mu Nanhe's eye." As she spoke, she folded her hands in front of her chest, her face full of dissatisfaction and unwillingness.

Wei Wan frowned and said in a serious tone: "Before he was unmarried, you liked him and I insisted you to fight for him, but now he is married, you must not make mistakes and put away your thoughts. It is illegal to destroy military marriages, we will not do such stupid things."

Wei Lan stared at her sister with eyes wide open, looking at her in disbelief, as if she couldn't believe that these words came from her own sister's mouth. She was fully expecting her sister to help her plan and snatch Mu Nanhe away, but she didn't expect to be lectured like this.

"Hmph, if you don't help me, then forget it!" Wei Lan said this angrily, without even looking at the food that was already on the table, she turned around and rushed in angrily, slamming the door again with a "bang", shaking the door frame.

Wei Wan shook her head helplessly, watching her sister leave, and sighed softly. She knew her sister's temper well, and once she made up her mind, nothing could change her mind. She thought that when her husband came back, she would have to find a way to get him to persuade her, so that her sister would not do anything stupid, or she would regret it.

Wei Wan's husband Liu Jianjun finished a day of military training and dragged his tired body towards the family compound. As soon as he reached the gate of the family compound, he saw Wei Lan walking towards him with an angry face. He subconsciously raised his hand to greet her with a kind smile on his face: "Lan Lan, what's the matter? You are so anxious."

Who knew that Wei Lan acted as if she didn't see him, without even glancing at him, and just walked right past him without paying any attention.

Liu Jianjun's hands froze in the air awkwardly, with a puzzled look on his face. He scratched his head and thought to himself: What's going on? I didn't provoke this sister-in-law, why is she acting like she's on drugs? Full of suspicion, he quickened his pace back home, and as soon as he entered the house, he saw Wei Wan sitting in front of the sewing machine, thinking about something.

"Your sister came over, why did she leave without eating?" Liu Jianjun asked as he took off his coat. "I greeted her but she ignored me. Is there something wrong?"

Wei Wan stopped what she was doing, looked up, and sighed helplessly: "It's all because of Captain Mu's marriage. When she heard about it, she came to me angrily to find out what was going on. You also know that she has always been interested in Captain Mu, so I advised her to let it go and not to mess around. It is illegal to destroy a military marriage. But she didn't listen at all and left angrily without saying a word."

Liu Jianjun sat on a chair, poured himself a glass of water, took a sip, and frowned slightly: "This girl, why is she so stubborn? Captain Mu is married, there is no point in thinking about her anymore."

Wei Wan stood up and walked to her husband, sat down, and said earnestly: "I told her the same thing, but she didn't listen at all. If you have time tomorrow, persuade her not to let her get deeper and deeper into this matter. If something really goes wrong, we can't afford it."

Liu Jianjun nodded and said, "Okay, I'll find a chance to talk to her. I hope she'll listen. This girl has been spoiled since she was a child and has a very stubborn temper."

The couple looked at each other and saw helplessness in each other's eyes. Wei Wan's family was well-off, and they knew Wei Lan's temper very well. Once she made up her mind about something, it would be difficult to turn back. They just hoped that before she made a bigger mess, she would wake up and not touch the red line that should not be touched.

Yang Qingyan finally tidied up the house. Looking at the brand new house, the objects were neatly arranged, the windows were bright and clean, and the bed sheets were blowing gently in the breeze. She breathed a sigh of relief, but suddenly a strong urge surged in her heart - she wanted to go for a walk in the mountains.

She knew clearly that with her unique special powers, she could absorb the essence of heaven and earth more efficiently in the mountains, thereby enhancing her special powers and giving herself more self-protection power in this completely unfamiliar era.

Mu Nanhe followed Yang Qingyan's gaze and saw her looking at the green hills outside the house with longing in her eyes. "Qingyan, do you want to go up the mountain? The terrain is rugged and the road is very difficult to walk on. You haven't recovered yet, so I'll go with you." Mu Nanhe stepped forward quickly and stood in front of Yang Qingyan.

Hearing the voice, Yang Qingyan slowly raised her head, her eyes distant and indifferent, as if covered by a layer of frost. Her eyes lightly met Mu Nanhe's and then looked away.

She shook her head lightly, her tone indifferent but revealing an unquestionable stubbornness: "No need, I'm fine, not that tired, and my body has almost recovered. When I was in my hometown, I often went up the mountain alone. I am very familiar with the mountain roads, so nothing will happen." After saying that, she turned sideways and was about to leave.

Mu Nanhe looked at her distant look, and his heart felt like it was hit by a heavy hammer. His feet seemed to be rooted and he couldn't move. He was filled with bitterness and helplessness. He recalled the long days when he was on duty outside. He ignored her and neglected her. When she was in the most difficult time and needed someone to accompany her, he was absent. Now, even such a simple request to accompany her to the mountain was rejected by her so bluntly. Self-blame and regret surged like a tide, drowning him in an instant.

He looked at Yang Qingyan's resolute back, stammered a few times, wanting to dissuade her again, but was afraid of making her annoyed and angry, so he swallowed his words back. With a solemn expression and deep helplessness and worry in his eyes, he watched her walk over the threshold alone and slowly walk towards the mountain.

Yang Qingyan walked slowly up the winding mountain path, the mountain breeze gently brushed across her face, carrying the rustic breath of mud and the rich fragrance of plants. However, her body was really tired. After walking a short distance, she felt her legs were as heavy as if they were filled with lead, and every step was a bit difficult. But she gritted her teeth and persisted, slightly closed her eyes, immersed herself in it, felt the surging natural power around her, quietly operated her body, and began to absorb the essence of the world.

As the energy flowed into her body, she could clearly feel her abnormality increasing. When it reached a certain level, she guided it into a gentle warm current and slowly injected it into her tired body. In an instant, the heaviness in her legs was relieved a lot, and her body seemed to be injected with new vitality, and her steps became more stable.

After recovering some strength, Yang Qingyan continued to walk deeper into the forest. She had sharp eyes and found some fresh wild vegetables along the way. She was delighted and squatted down to pick them skillfully. These wild vegetables were a rare delicacy and source of nutrition in the end times. Now that she could pick them again, she felt very close to them.

Unconsciously, she walked to a more remote corner of the forest. Suddenly, a familiar ginseng root came into her sight. She looked closely and found that it was a ginseng of excellent quality. Yang Qingyan was excited. In the last days, ginseng, a precious medicinal material, was almost extinct. She didn't expect to encounter it here today. She carefully removed the mud around the ginseng, dug it out with roots and roots intact, held it in her hands and examined it carefully, her eyes full of joy and cherishment.

At this time, Mu Nanhe stood tall at the gate of his family's courtyard, his eyes like torches, following Yang Qingyan's receding figure closely, without moving for a long time. Regret and powerlessness intertwined, surging in his heart.
