Chapter 16 Whoever provides the milk is my mother

The girl was overjoyed and, ignoring the heat, carried the rice porridge back. As soon as she saw the porridge in the bowl, the man snatched the chipped bowl first and shoveled it down his throat, unafraid of the heat. The three children were not to be outdone, and with six hands, they rummaged through the porridge, each taking a sip until only the bottom of the bowl remained. The woman lying down became anxious, reached out and grabbed the bowl, licking the rice water clean.

A bowl of rice porridge was shared among five people, and each of them only got a taste, their stomachs were still empty, and they even experienced acid reflux as a result.

"This family is so stingy. They eat such thick food themselves, but the food they give us is so thin that you can count how many grains of rice are in it."

"We have water and food. I glanced at the family across the street when they were cooking porridge, and there must be at least three pounds of grain in their sack. It's just that there are too many people in that family. With just a few of us, we have no chance of winning."

"Let's talk about it when it gets late at night. If all else fails, we'll use that trick tomorrow morning. Even if they don't die, we'll make them suffer."

"Those two mules are really well-fed. Their coats are shiny and they eat better than people. I wonder what the meat of such well-fed mules tastes like."

The man's name was Zhu Sanzhuang. Before the locust plague, he was a lazy and cunning man who was good at slacking off. His land was left to fall into disuse, and his wife was also lazy. They had two daughters and a son, and they lived a life of mediocrity until the locust plague struck and famine broke out.

Since the government didn't care, Zhu Sanzhuang had bad ideas and started begging and petty theft. Surprisingly, he did it quite well in just a few days.

Zhu Sanzhuang saw the two mule carts and his mind started to wander again.

Despite the large number of people around, Zhu Sanzhuang was secretly plotting to seize the mule cart for himself.

He wiped his mouth, drooling, and was pinched hard by the woman. "Suppress all your little schemes. The important thing is to get things done. If we let this fat sheep go, we might not even have enough to eat later."

Zhu Sanzhuang glanced discreetly at the Lin family members across from him, who were laughing and joking. A hint of resentment and jealousy flashed in his triangular eyes. As long as he pulled off this job, he wouldn't have to worry about food.

The five-member family was making plans, while the Lin and Li families had also finished eating. Because they hadn't gotten enough water, they were trying to conserve even their drinking water, let alone washing up.

It was still early. Apart from Old Mrs. Lin and Old Mrs. Li, who were tired and lying in the dilapidated temple, everyone else sat outside the temple with their legs crossed, enjoying the cool breeze that had just passed by.

Li Minghui kept his word and was now urging Li Junsheng to squat in a horse stance. Compared to when he would fall over at the slightest breeze, Li Junsheng now looked quite sturdy, and his slightly tanned face added to his robust appearance and made him look less scholarly.

Seeing that Li Yunzhou and Li Yunhai were eager to try, Li Minghui let them join in as well, along with Li Yunyun who didn't want to be tired at all. As for Lin Yangyang, she had already tied her hair up when Li Junsheng started, and her posture was perfect, as if she had copied and pasted it.

Half an hour later, the younger generation was limp and exhausted, but Lin Yangyang remained calm and didn't even break a sweat.

After the family finished their training and returned to peace, Lin Zhaozhao couldn't stand the sour smell on her body any longer, so she said goodbye to Lin Yangyang and went into the mountains.

With her superpowers, Lin Zhaozhao could walk as if it were daytime. Suddenly, she heard a wolf howl, and the grapevine that was originally on her fingertips shot out like an arrow, as fast as lightning. Lin Zhaozhao's brows furrowed, and she followed after it, protecting her abdomen.

After wandering through the woods for almost ten minutes, the grapevines slowed down, and the stench of blood in the air grew stronger. Lin Zhaozhao frowned slightly, and a tender leaf from the grapevine poked her, making a forward motion.
