Chapter 16 Whoever provides the milk is my mother (2/2)

The bushes parted, and Lin Zhaozhao squeezed in, cautiously using her supernatural abilities to envelop her entire body in case of a sudden attack.

Without any bushes to conceal it, the scene inside came into Lin Zhaozhao's view.

An adult wolf lay on the ground, blood everywhere, one eye a bloody mess. As if sensing an unfamiliar presence, its low growls gradually turned sharp and mournful. Wolves are social animals, and this was a call to the pack.

Lin Zhaozhao had no intention of provoking the wolf pack. Just as she was about to leave with the grapevine, she saw a vine grow from it and pierce through the wolf's heart.

The wolf, who still had some strength left, immediately perished in the Northwest.

Lin Zhaozhao:...

"Don't even think about coming near me until you get rid of that smell." Lin Zhaozhao gritted her teeth, and then saw the grapevine kick the already dead wolf, which rolled weakly on the ground, trying to cover up the bloody smell on the vine.

It was only after this kick that Lin Zhaozhao noticed that there was an animal hanging around the wolf's neck. It was black, smelled strongly of blood, and its belly had been ripped open by sharp teeth, exposing its insides. Its eyes moved slightly, and it made a very soft gurgling sound. With a meow, a rustling sound came, and a small black ball rushed out. In its haste, it rolled several times on the ground and landed on Lin Zhaozhao's feet.

A low meowing sound rang out, and then the big dumpling fell completely silent.

Lin Zhaozhao used her special ability to investigate, but she was powerless to help. The little dumpling was barely holding on to its last breath; if she had arrived earlier, there might have been a chance for it to survive.

"Awoooooo..." The wolf's howl echoed through the night sky. Lin Zhaozhao flicked the grapevine, grabbed the little dumpling, and rushed outside. The grapevine caught one of the little dumpling's legs, and Lin Zhaozhao laughed in exasperation, "What, are you afraid I'll lose it?"

Lin Zhaozhao charged forward until she could no longer smell the blood, then changed direction and entered the space with the grapevine and the little dumpling.

Lin Zhaozhao first examined the little ball of fur. It was a dark, tangled mess, its once glossy fur now stained with layers of blood. It looked rather pathetic, though its eyes were bright and black.

Perhaps because it had been separated from its mother, it trembled in the face of the unfamiliar environment. Even so, it allowed Lin Zhaozhao to handle it without baring its teeth or showing any signs of attack.

The little thing is so well-behaved it breaks your heart.

After checking for any obvious external injuries, Lin Zhaozhao brought over a basin of water, soaked the little dumpling in it, and then picked a few cherries and brought them to its mouth. The little dumpling brought its nose close to sniff them, pushed them away a couple of times, and then began to eat them in small bites.

Don't let the little dumpling's small mouth fool you; it eats quite quickly and finished five pieces in no time.

Like mother, like son. After the cherries were eaten, the little dumpling became visibly affectionate towards Lin Zhaozhao, obediently letting Lin Zhaozhao clean it. When her fingers brushed its nose, it would rub against her and purr. This successfully made Lin Zhaozhao completely absorbed and ignore the other living creatures in the space.

The grapevine was initially proud of this, and when it faced off against the sheep, it tried to run away. However, the devil is always one step ahead, and the little one was even faster. It was a mixed doubles match, and the feeling was just too good.

"Fighting is fine, but if you run into anything, you're welcome to try." Lin Zhaozhao was busy with her hands, but she wasn't deaf. She could tell from the noise that the three little ones were up to something again. After her warning, Meimei and Xiaoli quieted down for a while, but less than two minutes later, they grabbed the grapevine again and launched a heavy punch.

After washing it five times, the water in the basin was finally clean. After drying its fur, a round, fluffy little ball of fur was freshly made. Lin Zhaozhao stroked it a few times before realizing that it was actually a black leopard cat.
