Chapter 21 Encounter with Bandits (1/2)

Chapter 21 Encountering Bandits

Lin Zhaozhao sat on the mule cart. The trembling in her abdomen brought her back to her senses. Xiao Guai stretched out her paw and stepped on the spot where it had just trembled, with very light force, as if she was greeting the little one in her belly.

The baby is over seven months along, and the frequent fetal movements lately have made Lin Zhaozhao uneasy. Fortunately, she will arrive in Shou'an in a few days, which has put her at ease a little.

If possible, Lin Zhaozhao still hopes that the baby's delivery will be smooth, so that both the mother and child will have an easier time.

Just as she was thinking this, the little darling, who had been leisurely just moments before, suddenly bristled and howled. Even the grapevines became alert. Lin Zhaozhao quickly released her supernatural power to sense what the plants were feeling. A series of hoofbeats followed, and Lin Zhaozhao immediately called for a stop and jumped off the mule cart.

Lin Yangyang immediately sensed Lin Zhaozhao's distress and helped her up. Li Xiujuan and Old Lady Lin also came over, asking, "What's wrong? Is Zhaozhao's stomach hurting?"

Lin Zhaozhao shook her head. "Mother, tell my eldest and second uncles to pack their luggage and run into the mountains if there is any disturbance."

Without asking why, Li Xiujuan quickly notified the relevant parties.

Lin Zhaozhao took out a bamboo arrow from her spatial storage through the mule cart curtain and handed it to Lin Yangyang, saying, "Yangyang, cooperate with me later."

"Hmm." Lin Yangyang had just put the bamboo arrow into the basket behind her when she heard a scream from ahead.

"Bandits are coming! Run!"

"Help."

"Please don't kill me. If you need food, there are people in horse-drawn and mule-drawn carts behind you. They have plenty of food."

"Don't kill me, I have elderly parents and young children to support..."

Before he could finish speaking, the broadsword fell, severing his head from his body, blood splattering everywhere.

People who were initially unaware of what was happening paused for a few seconds before scattering like lambs to the slaughter.

Those who were slow to run were trampled to the ground.

The bandit leader, riding his horse, saw this scene and revealed a cruel smile, "Today, everyone's free to roam. Grain, silver, and beauties—we'll give you everything."

After saying this, the man spurred his horse, brandished his broadsword, and charged into the crowd. Innocent people fell one by one. Skinny children were lifted up by the broadsword and fell to the ground like kites with broken strings. The horses trampled them, tearing their bodies to pieces.

Lin Zhaozhao's eyes reddened. After feeding the grapevine with her supernatural power, the grapevine glided quickly over and extended its long vines where horses passed by. One by one, the horses fell over. Lin Zhaozhao took out bamboo arrows and shot them at the heads of the bandits with a few whooshing sounds.

Lin Yangyang followed suit, and soon all the bandits in the front row were dead.

The tide of battle turned, and the faces of the people who had been fleeing in panic showed joy, but it was only for a moment, because even more bandits came from behind.

Lin Zhaozhao glanced at the five bamboo arrows that were left, whistled, and ran into the mountains with Lin Yangyang.

Just as her body was about to be buried, arrows came flying through the air. Lin Zhaozhao used the long whip formed by grapevines to block a large number of arrows. Just as she was about to block the rest, she suddenly felt a pain in her abdomen. In the pause, Lin Yangyang tackled Lin Zhaozhao to the ground, and an iron arrow hit Lin Yangyang's shoulder.

"Let's go." The two sisters helped each other up, and Xiao Guai led the way, heading deeper into the dense forest.

Great Way

"Chase them! Chase them now!" The bandit leader's face was filled with gloom as he looked at the lost warhorses and dead brothers. "Catch them and tear them to pieces to avenge our brothers."

"Revenge, revenge!"

"Report! They've all gone into the mountains."
