Chapter 21 Encounter with Bandits (2/2)

"Chase! Split into two groups, one to stay behind and the other to come with me." The bandit leader dismounted, raised his broadsword, and chased after the direction where Lin Zhaozhao had disappeared.

As the smell of blood grew stronger, Lin Zhaozhao clearly felt Lin Yangyang's breathing become rapid, so she helped Lin Yangyang crawl into a deep pit hidden by bushes.

"Xiao Teng, wipe away the bloodstains along the way. Xiao Guai, pay attention to your surroundings. Tell me immediately if anything seems amiss." After assigning tasks to the two children, Lin Zhaozhao unbuttoned Lin Yangyang's shirt.

Lin Yangyang's face was deathly pale from excessive blood loss. The iron arrow had a thin hook at the tip, deeply embedded in her flesh, and a long tail. The slightest movement caused Lin Yangyang to shiver in pain.

"Yangyang, do you believe me?" Lin Zhaozhao snapped off the arrow's fletching. Lin Yangyang's consciousness was already somewhat hazy, but upon hearing her words, she nodded emphatically.

"Second sister, I believe you."

"Bear with it." Lin Zhaozhao told Lin Yangyang to bite the bamboo stick, then took out a dagger and slowly dug out the iron arrowhead.

As her flesh was ripped out, Lin Yangyang's veins bulged with pain. She bit down on the bamboo stick until it broke, and the taste of blood filled her mouth. Just when she couldn't bear the pain any longer, she noticed that the pain in her shoulder was slowly disappearing, replaced by an indescribable comfort.

As she gradually regained consciousness, Lin Yangyang looked down and saw that her shoulder, which had been a bloody mess, was now completely healed. If it weren't for the strong smell of blood still lingering on her body, Lin Yangyang would have had the illusion that she hadn't been injured at all.

"You can't tell anyone about this." Lin Zhaozhao put her hand to her lips and shushed, then felt dizzy and collapsed into Lin Yangyang's arms.

"Second Sister."

"I'm fine, I just need to rest for a bit." Her stomach was churning with hunger, so Lin Zhaozhao propped herself up and stuffed cherries into her mouth. Only after swallowing two handfuls did the burning sensation subside.

Seeing stars before her eyes, Lin Zhaozhao patted her belly lightly and took a deep breath. "You're usually very well-behaved, but you let me down at crucial moments. If you do this again, I'll spank you until you're born."

As if sensing Lin Zhaozhao's emotions, the little one in her belly moved very slightly, quite unlike usual, and seemed rather listless.

Lin Zhaozhao couldn't help but chuckle, thinking of Lin Yangyang's excessive blood loss, and gave her a large handful of cherries, "Eat them all, to replenish your blood."

Lin Yangyang ate obediently, occasionally giving Xiaoguai a piece. Lin Zhaozhao leaned back and started gnawing on the jerky. "Yangyang, you should protect yourself first in the future. If that arrow had missed even a little bit, you would have died."

"Hehe, Second Sister, I'm fine."

"Lin Yangyang, I'm talking to you about something serious."

Lin Yangyang put away her playful smile, and her usually naive demeanor became quite serious. "Second sister, no matter how many times we do it all over again, I will still make the same choice."

"Lin Yangyang." Lin Zhaozhao pinched Lin Yangyang's face, which had regained some color, in a fit of exasperation, sounding a bit dramatic.

"So, Second Sister, you must protect yourself. Don't worry, I will keep your secret safe and won't tell anyone." Lin Yangyang lowered her head and buried herself in Lin Zhaozhao's arms, snuggling against her like a little darling.

With her hand raised and falling in the air, Lin Zhaozhao snorted and pushed Lin Yangyang away, saying, "You haven't washed your hair for a month or so, it smells terrible. Stay away from me."

"No way."

"vomit."

Lin Zhaozhao&Lin Yangyang:...

After feeding Lin Yangyang with the spiritual spring water to restore her strength, Lin Zhaozhao washed her hands and looked at the broken sword. There were marks on it, which were related to the government.

The deep mountains were fraught with danger. Lin Zhaozhao was worried about Li Xiujuan, Lin Fusheng and the Li family, so she did not stay any longer and sent Grapevine and Xiaoguai to sense the movement in the mountains.

The howls of wolves echoed, and Lin Zhaozhao's heart skipped a beat. Xiao Guai, its fur bristling, roared and charged out like an arrow, with Grapevine close behind. Seeing this, Lin Zhaozhao and Lin Yangyang quickly followed. Judging from the situation, the wolf pack had probably gathered.
