Chapter 50 One Catch, One Nest (2/2)

Lin Zhaozhao slept soundly through the night, waking up before dawn because she had gone to bed early.

Ping An was sleeping soundly in the crib. Lin Zhaozhao touched him and found that his diaper was bulging. She quickly changed it, dried his bottom, and then left the room.

A chill swept over her, and Lin Zhaozhao saw several burly men huddled in the corner of the wall, bound hand and foot. As she got closer, she saw Meimei, Xiaoguai, and Xiaoteng standing guard to the side. Xiaoteng was curled up on Meimei's horns, which others would have mistaken for decoration.

"What's going on?" Switching to Xiao Teng's perspective, Lin Zhaozhao burst out laughing, moved a chair in front of her, sat down, and kicked the person awake.

"Tell me, what are you all here for?" The group looked at each other, finding it hard to believe that they had fallen into the body of a sheep.

While everyone was questioning their existence, Lin Zhaozhao was having a good time, but she didn't neglect her important business.

"Should we say it ourselves, or add a sense of ceremony?" Lin Zhaozhao beckoned, and Meimei came running over. She picked the unlucky one on the far left. After a dud, the others quickly snapped to attention and hurriedly started talking, afraid of becoming the next unlucky one if they were too slow.

The first group consisted of only two people, purely motivated by profit.

The second group consisted of three people. They claimed to be stealing, but from what Xiaoteng saw, their actions were more than that; they seemed to want to make a scene so that everyone would know.

After several attempts to reason with her failed, Lin Zhaozhao lost her patience. She stood up and looked down at them, saying, "I'll give you one last chance. Otherwise, tell me..."

"Ah..." A painful scream rang out, and the onlookers were all in disbelief. This woman had no sense of martial ethics.

"Tell me, who sent you?" With just a few words, Lin Zhaozhao began her indiscriminate attack. Cries of agony and pleas for mercy rose and fell. Hearing the commotion, Lin Yangyang quickly ran out. Afraid that they would disturb others, she picked up some tattered cloths and stuffed them into the mouths of the three men. She also grabbed a fire poker, ready to attack Lin Zhaozhao the moment she opened her mouth.

Under Lin Yangyang's gaze, the three who had been as hard as bones suddenly went limp. "Someone said you cheated people out of a thousand taels of silver, and they sent us here to teach you a lesson, preferably to make it known to everyone, and to get you labeled a whore and a slut."

"That's a really vicious mind." The easiest way to ruin a woman is to spread rumors about her. Others won't care about anything else; they'll just seize on that to suppress and slander her.

Do you know who it is?

"We really didn't know." Fearing Lin Zhaozhao wouldn't believe them, the three of them even took out a deposit. Lin Zhaozhao took it, turned to the first two, and after a sheepish smile, the two took out the few copper coins they had.

"Untie them."

Without the restraint of ropes, the five men moved their numb limbs, but dared not make any rash moves.

"Do you know how to reply when we get back?" Lin Zhaozhao looked at the three people in the second group, who nodded repeatedly. "It's all been handled properly, there was just a slight mishap, but it didn't cause any disturbance."

"Very good, you can get out of here now."

"Be careful, if rumors about me spread outside, I will come after you again." The five men trembled, their necks hunched, and they avoided people as they rolled away.

"They came for money, but what are you here for?" Lin Zhaozhao glanced at the child with his feet tied and huddled in the corner. Lin Yangyang exclaimed and picked up the child, "He's so small."

Immediately afterwards, the stained clothes were torn in the middle due to Lin Yangyang's excessive force.

Lin Zhaozhao & Lin Yangyang & Child: ...

"Second sister, this child looks a bit like the one Mom used to feed at the dock." Lin Yangyang often went to the dock and had seen the child a few times. She immediately remembered him when she saw those fierce eyes.

"It seems he was just passing by and got mistakenly arrested." Lin Yangyang tried to make amends. Lin Zhaozhao looked at the child who was cowering, covering his lower body, with a calm expression in his eyes. After a moment of silence, she took out a blanket and wrapped the child up completely.
