Xu Jiang smelled a strong herbal scent in the chaos. She grabbed a trace of consciousness and opened her eyes, but she closed them again because she felt dizzy.
"Awake?" Doctor Chen's voice rang in his ears. "Feeling dizzy?"
Xu Jiang nodded.
"Finally he's awake." Then she heard Zeng Zhui's voice again, "I was so scared. I was unconscious for most of the day and thought there was no hope."
Most of the day? I guess it's also because I didn't sleep last night.
Doctor Chen glared at him and said, "If you keep making noise, I'll give you two injections." This stupid young man really knows how to talk.
Zeng Zhui quickly apologized with a smile.
Doctor Chen removed the needles from Xu Jiang's head and then examined her again. He said, "You're feeling dizzy because you were hit on the head by a rock, and your mind is shaken. You'll feel better after a while of rest."
Zeng Zhuixi asked happily, "Does that mean everything is fine?"
"It didn't hit any vital parts. Two doses of calming, blood-activating, and blood-stasis-relieving medicine will do the trick." Master Chen said, "It's a blessing in disguise. If it had hit the eyes or the temporal acupoint, the patient would have been in grave danger."
"Buddha bless you, Buddha bless you!" Zeng Zhui clasped his hands together and bowed to the sky twice, then angrily said, "If I run into that damn Feng Miao again, I will definitely break his hands and feet!"
"Feng Miao?" Xu Jiang opened her eyes and looked at Zeng Zhui dazedly.
She was stunned by the hit and had no time to see who hit her. She didn't expect it was Feng Miao?
"Who else could it be if not him? He ran away as soon as he made eye contact with me. It's obvious that he's guilty as a thief."
"I didn't expect he was still working for them." The last time he attempted to harm someone but failed, he was taken to the government office. Later, he used his achievements to offset his crime of exile and was whipped 100 times.
Xu Jiang originally thought that he would return home, but he didn't expect that he would still stay in the capital and continue to be a running dog of the gentry.
Zeng Zhui said viciously, "It's a pity that we didn't catch him red-handed. If we had, we'd see what he would have done to atone for his crime!"
It was a pity that he almost showed mercy to the thief last time. This kind of person with evil intentions and vicious heart should be beaten to death!
"People who are opportunistic and harm others will not have a good end." Xu Jiang then asked, "How is Lord Mu?"
"He's fine. He's already gone to the palace to plead guilty. The outcome is still unknown." Zeng Zhui sneered, "But I suspect someone is going to be in big trouble this time."
Xu Jiang gathered her scattered thoughts, and a figure emerged in her mind. "I saw Zhao Xiu on Suzaku Street." Although she had only met Zhao Xiu once, she recognized him. "He blocked the rocks thrown at me by the Zhou family guards."
It’s a pity that she escaped the Zhou family guards but couldn’t escape Feng Miao.
It can be said that there is a cause and effect in the dark. She blocked the stones for Mu Cong, and Zhao Xiu stopped the Zhou family guards for her. She repeatedly ruined Feng Miao's plans, and Feng Miao took the opportunity to retaliate against her.
This disaster is what he deserves.
Zeng Zhui was silent for a moment, then said with regret, "It's a pity that I couldn't catch him. If I had caught him, the master's body would have been clear."
"Where are the other murderers?"
"We caught two, and the rest ran away in the chaos."
"Two are enough...hiss!" Doctor Chen applied medicine to Xu Jiang. The medicine seeped into the wound, causing her to gasp and her eyes to become clear.
Doctor Chen said with a stern face, "It's good that you know it hurts. Next time, don't be so stubborn and meddle in such trivial matters or join in the fun." Although he said this, his movements when applying the medicine were much gentler.
Feeling the pain means that your perception is gradually returning.
Zeng Zhui stared at the wound on Xu Jiang's head and said with a worried look on his face, "Doctor Chen, will this disfigure me?"
"Ah? Disfigured?" Xu Jiang reached out and touched it, only to find a large, soft lump. She hurriedly called out to Zeng Zhui, "Do you have a mirror? Bring it over so I can take a look."
"Where did you get a mirror in this clinic?" Doctor Chen quickly pulled her hand away. "I just put medicine on it, don't touch it." Then he said, "The wound isn't deep. Wait until the swelling subsides and a scab forms. Apply some scar removal ointment for a month, and it will be gone."
Zeng Zhui was relieved. "That's good. Otherwise, how can I explain this to Brother Lou and Master Lin?"
"It wasn't you who hit anyone, so what does this have to do with you?" Xu Jiang felt the pain coming up, and grimaced, "We don't have the ability to predict the future. Who could have thought that Feng Miao would be there and attack me?"
Zeng Zhui asked pointedly, "Do you think this can convince your Xiaolou and our Master Lin?"
The two thought of Lou Yunchun and Master Lin, each one looking extremely serious, and their mouths became dry and their hearts bitter.
Xu Jiang pinched her brows. "Don't tell Master Lin about this. Master Mu is preoccupied with this matter, so he and Zhaoyue are temporarily tied up. After a few days, when the swelling goes down and it looks less severe, we can find an excuse to get away with it." Then she tugged at Doctor Chen's sleeve and pleaded, "Doctor Chen, I'm relying on your miraculous skills to bring him back to health."
Doctor Chen ruthlessly dashed her hopes, "It looks okay now, but once the swelling goes down and the blood clots surface, it will look even more horrifying." After saying that, he told Xu Jiang to lie down well and went outside to write a prescription.
There were only two sad faces left in the room.
As soon as Doctor Chen walked into the front hall, Lou Yunchun ran in with big strides, his face full of anxiety.
As soon as he met Doctor Chen, he asked anxiously, "Doctor Chen, where is A Jiang? Is she seriously injured?"
Among the patrol guards on Zhuque Street, there was someone transferred from the Dali Temple. That person happened to know Xu Jiang and saw clearly how Xu Jiang was hit. He had been guarding in front of the imperial city gate and waited for Lou Yunchun to come out of court, and then informed him of the incident.
Lou Yunchun was about to return to the Dali Temple, but when he heard that Xu Jiang was injured by a stone and sent to Qianjinfang, he rushed over anxiously.
He was always steady and composed, but it was rare for him to be so anxious. Doctor Chen said quickly, "She's fine. She's lying in the backyard resting now. She'll be able to go back soon." Then he whispered, "I'm still worried about how to deal with you."
