Chapter 175 One Hundred and Seventy-Five

"Auntie Cao, I'm here."

The first one to come out was Lu Zhen. When he heard Xu Jiang's voice, he couldn't wait to step out of the courtyard with his short legs.

"Sister Xu." He was about to pounce on them, but when he saw a stranger, he quickly stopped and bowed to the two of them.

Xu Jiang patted his head and introduced him, "This is Sister Yin Yin."

Lu Zhen said shyly, "Hello, Sister Yinyin."

Yin Yin also looked at him curiously.

Xu Jiang said to her, "This is Lu Zhen, the child I picked up."

Yin Yin suddenly understood, narrowed her eyes, and replied cheerfully, "Hello to you too."

At this time, Uncle Cao and Aunt Cao also came out after hearing the noise.

Aunt Cao said with a smile, "Master, why are you here so early? Have you had breakfast? I made some porridge this morning. Would you like some?"

"Okay." Xu Jiang didn't hesitate. He took Yin Yin aside and introduced her to them, then went into the yard with the three of them.

"Why don't I see Brother Cao and his wife?"

"Your sister-in-law's family is busy with farming, so the two of them went back to their hometown to help."

Uncle Cao placed a long table under the eaves, spread out a cushion on it, and invited Xu Jiang and Yin Yin to sit down.

"Boss, you came here so early, is there something wrong?"

Xu Jiang pulled Yin Yin and Lu Zhen to sit down and said, "I'd like to ask you to help rebuild the donkey shed and find a craftsman to help paint the walls."

Uncle Cao asked hurriedly, "Why are you renovating it again? Did the craftsmen not do a good job last time and something went wrong?"

"Oh, this is an embarrassing thing to say." Xu Jiang sighed and told him a few words about the arson incident in the bookstore. She didn't want to say more, as she was afraid that they would worry if she said too much.

"These thieves are truly despicable! They actually set fire in broad daylight." Uncle Cao couldn't hide his anger. "Now that we've caught them, we must not let them go easily. We must teach them a lesson and make them compensate for the damages!"

"Uncle Cao, calm down. This matter has been handed over to the authorities. I believe they will handle it fairly." Just then, Aunt Cao came out with some porridge. Xu Jiang quickly changed the subject and asked, "Uncle Cao and Aunt Cao are ready. Please sit down and eat together."

Aunt Cao smiled and said, "We've used it before." Then she saw Uncle Cao's face darken and he frowned and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Before Uncle Cao could say anything, Lu Zhen frowned and answered, "Sister Xu's bookstore was set on fire, and Grandpa is angry."

"What!" Aunt Cao's voice suddenly shot up, and she asked hurriedly, "How badly is it burned? Is it serious?"

Xu Jiang hurriedly took her hand and tried to comfort her, "It's okay, it's okay, don't worry, it's just a donkey shed burned down and a few walls were blackened, there's no damage or anything."

"Which bastard did this? Did they catch him?" Aunt Cao was so angry that she rolled up her sleeves and said, "If I see him, I will break his legs."

Xu Jiang hurriedly advised, "We've reported it to the authorities. Two have been arrested, and the other has been burned himself and is still lying in the hospital."

Aunt Cao spat and cursed, "Serves you right. Karma." After relieving herself a little, she said, "I'll go to the market with your Uncle Cao later. We'll be relieved after we've taken a look."

Lu Zhen straightened up and said, "I'll go too."

"Okay." Xu Jiang smiled slightly, feeling warm in his heart.

Suddenly, there was a gurgling sound beside them. Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw Yin Yin holding her stomach with her round face flushed red.

"Oh, my dear, you must be hungry. Come and eat." Aunt Cao patted Xu Jiang's hand again and said, "You should eat too. There are still steaming buns in the pot. I'll pick some for you."

After saying that, he went back to the kitchen.

Xu Jiang turned to Yin Yin and said, "Eat. Don't treat yourself as an outsider here with Uncle Cao."

"Yeah." Yin Yin buried her head in drinking the porridge.

Seeing that she was eating with relish, Xu Jiang's appetite, which had been suppressed for a whole day, was aroused, and she gulped down half a bowl.

Seeing this, Lu Zhen swallowed his saliva and said to Uncle Cao, "Grandpa, I'm hungry again."

"Hey, I'll go get you a bowl right away." Uncle Cao smiled again and went to the kitchen to get porridge.

Xu Jiang looked up at Lu Zhen for a few seconds and suddenly asked, "Have you grown taller again?"

Lu Zhen nodded heavily, "Yes, I've grown an inch and three points taller."

Xu Jiang looked at his fair and round face, and remembered how skinny he looked when she first picked him up. He looked like a completely different child. She couldn't help but sigh that the Cao family raised him really well.

"The steamed buns are here." Aunt Cao came out with a basket of steaming buns and picked one up and handed it to Yinyin. "This is your first time at home, come and try the steamed buns I make to see if they're delicious."

Yinyin took it and took a big bite, then puffed up her cheeks and nodded, "Delicious."

Aunt Cao handed another bun to Xu Jiang. Seeing her grandson looking at her eagerly, she broke off another half and handed it to him. "Your grandfather will bring you some porridge right away. You can only eat half of the bun because you're afraid it will make you feel full."

"Hmm." Lu Zhen took a bite of Aunt Cao's hand, "It smells so good."

Aunt Cao stuffed the steamed bun into his hand. Seeing that Xu Jiang's bowl of porridge was almost empty, she asked, "Would you like another bowl?"

"Yes." Xu Jiang nodded. "Thank you for your help."

"I'm happy if you like it." Aunt Cao asked again, "Why didn't Xiaolou come with us? I remember he likes sweet things."

"Him." Xu Jiang sighed softly, wrapped in the sweetness of the porridge. "He's out on business. He won't be back for a while."

Aunt Cao said, "When he comes back, you must bring him over for a get-together. I've made some new rice wine and saved it for him."

"Okay." Xu Jiang smiled at her.
