Chapter 226

The golden wheel floats on the sea, and the clouds and mist gradually dissipate.

Before the autumn heat set in, the group descended from Shanhai Pavilion and returned to Qixia Courtyard.

When they came across several persimmon trees on the way, Xu Jiang stopped to pick the persimmons because she saw that the tops of the trees were already red.

Wan Qingmiao rolled up his sleeves, eager to try. "It's just that we have more people today, so we can pick more, otherwise those monkeys won't get any advantage."

Xu Jiang burst into laughter, "Still holding a grudge?"

Wan Qingmiao called a few guards, selected two plants with large and red fruits, and climbed up to pick them with his bare hands.

He just spat on his hands, rubbed them, and climbed up the tree trunk easily. His movements were as agile as those of the wild monkeys.

Xu Jiang shouted, "Zhenji, be careful."

The one who responded to her was a big red tomato, "Sister, take it!"

Fortunately, Xu Jiang was quick-witted and quick-handed, otherwise he would have been hit in the face.

The persimmon was half soft. Xu Jiang squeezed it until the skin and flesh separated, then he opened it and took two bites. "It's sweet."

The astringency only comes after I finish eating one.

"Pick the soft ones."

"Okay."

Wan Qingmiao picked two more soft ones, broke off the branches, and threw them to Shan Bo, "Shan Bo, you can try them too."

This throw landed right on Shan Bo's head. Fortunately, there were branches and leaves to cushion it, otherwise he would have been hit in the face.

Shan Bo picked the persimmon off his head and shook his head helplessly. Then he peeled one and ate it. It was sweet, soft and juicy, without any astringency.

"It tastes better than the one in Mingshi Pavilion."

"The species are different." Xu Jiang's arms were already full. "The climate, water and soil are also different."

Shan Bo said, "It's a pity that I can't bring some back for the master, mistress, and young master to taste."

Wan Qingmiao, who was listening from the tree, said, "Pick some half-ripened ones and take them back. Keep them on the way and you can eat them when you get back to the capital."

Xu Jiang smiled and said, "Then please trouble Zhenji to pick some more half-ripened ones so we can take them back and keep them safe."

"No problem." After saying that, something crackled and fell to the ground under the tree again.

Shan Bo whispered, "Have you told this fool?"

Xu Jiang nodded and said, "It has to be said sooner or later." The sooner you say it, the more you will cherish the days you spend together.

"When Madam is feeling better in March next year, we will bring her to the capital to watch the ceremony."

"good."

As they were talking, there was a sudden commotion in the forest. Xu Jiang looked in the direction of the commotion and saw a group of monkeys climbing towards them. He hurriedly shouted to Wan Qingmiao, "Zhenji, come down quickly! The monkeys are coming."

Then he shouted to several guards who were enjoying themselves picking fruits, "Stop picking fruits and get down from here too."

A few people pulled away the leaves and saw a group of monkeys rushing towards them aggressively. They hurriedly slipped down the tree holding the persimmons.

Xu Jiang and Shan Bo picked up the persimmons on the ground and put them into the donkey's saddlebag. The ones with branches were tied into a pile and tied to the donkey.

Wan Qingmiao came down from the tree, gathered the remaining persimmons into a pile, took off his coat, and packed them all up to take back.

"I'm afraid you can't keep this coat of yours." Shan Bo looked at a prodigal son with a look of disgrace. "This coat could be exchanged for half a warehouse of persimmons."

Wan Qingmiao stared at the monkeys occupying the persimmon tree and said angrily, "I picked these fruits, and I can't let these damn monkeys get away with any of them!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a persimmon hit him on the head with great precision.

Still a soft one.

Everyone was stunned when they saw this, and then they burst into laughter.

Xu Jiang smiled as she picked up the rotten persimmons for Wan Qingmiao and wiped his face with a handkerchief. He angrily picked up stones to throw at the monkey, but he had no aim at all.

"I will ask people to pick all these fruits tomorrow, and leave you starving!" After saying this, he glanced at everyone, got on his donkey and ran away.

It's so embarrassing.

Everyone hurried to catch up, and several guards surrounded him and laughed for a long time. He was angry and embarrassed at first, but soon he became friends with them and was fine again.

Shan Bo said: "He is a bright and cheerful child."

Xu Jiang also praised: "Well, it's rare."

Shan Bo asked again, "What are you going to say to Madam Wan? Will she let you go?"

"Mother won't stop me." Xu Jiang looked toward the mountainside, wondering if his mother had woken up yet. "I'm just afraid her condition will relapse after I leave."

Xizhi regained her consciousness because of her, and she was very dependent on her. Now the mother and daughter had just recognized each other, but were about to separate again, so her mood was inevitably fluctuating.

She was suffering from a heart disease and needed to calm down and recuperate. Xu Jiang knew that she would not stop her from leaving, but she was afraid that she would be secretly heartbroken and fall into confusion again.

Shan Bo also understood her concerns and suggested, "Then let's go back to the Wan family and ask Dr. Dai to treat Madam, and then we'll see how things go. If that doesn't work, we can stay a little longer."

"I thought so too." Shan Bo didn't push her, which made Xu Jiang feel relieved. "I'll try to mention this to my mother and feel out her attitude."

"good."

The group returned to Qixia Courtyard, and Xu Jiang went to visit her mother first.

Xizhi was already up and had just finished washing up when she saw Xu Jiang coming back. She stood up and took her hand, saying, "I heard you went to Shanhai Pavilion."

"Well, we watched the sunrise over the sea of clouds. It was beautiful." Xu Jiang pulled her outside. "We also picked a lot of persimmons. Would you like to see them, mother?"

"Okay." Xizhi let her lead the way out of the yard.

Wan Qingmiao was telling the maids and servants to unload the persimmons. When she saw Xizhi coming out, she hurried over to her and said, "Mother, you came just in time. Look! I picked the persimmons."

Seeing him in such a mess, with persimmon juice smeared on his head, Xizhi said lovingly, "Why are you so disheveled?" Then, seeing that he was only wearing his undershirt, she asked worriedly, "Where's your coat? Why don't you wear it? It's so cold in the mountains. You might catch a cold."

"It was hit by a wild monkey." Xu Jiang pointed to a bag of persimmons on the donkey and said, "The coat is there."
