Chapter 228

"A letter?" The servant was stunned for a moment, then realized, "Oh, I see. A letter."

Soon, the servant went to tell people to come. Poor Yinyin was still dreaming about meeting her sister Xu when she was dug out of bed by the maid.

Xu Jiang's letter to Yin Yin was nothing more than some words to comfort the child and instructing her to help Liang Mo manage the affairs of the bookstore.

After reading the letter, Lou Yunchun put it away. Yin Yin looked at it eagerly, but when she saw that he had no intention of returning it, she had no choice but to hang her head and go back dejectedly.

When Lou Jing got up, he was about to tell people to pack his luggage and arrange carriages so that he and his wife could go to the Taoist temple outside the city to pray for blessings. However, he ran into an enemy as soon as he stepped out of the door.

"Oh, my God!" He patted his chest, frightened, and then complained: "What are you doing here so quietly so early in the morning?"

Lou Yunchun replied, "I came to pay my respects to my father and mother."

"Are you here to pay your respects? You're planning to send me straight to the Three Pure Ones." Lou Jing rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Luckily it wasn't your mother who came out. If she had been frightened, I would have used the family rules to slap you in the face."

"My son was rude." Lou Yunchun admitted his mistake.

Lou Jing grabbed his beard and looked him up and down several times. Seeing that he looked okay except for some blueness under his eyes, he felt relieved.

After returning to Beijing, this taciturn man rested for only one night before going to the Dali Temple. He stayed away from home for several days and nights, enduring the pain desperately. It made people nervous and worried, and he and his wife were unable to sleep well for several days.

It even caused the people in the Dali Temple to sigh and give him a look that said "it's the father's fault if the son is not well educated" when they saw him. If they didn't know, they would think he had done something to them.

After finally returning from the Dali Temple, he walked in sideways, which scared the whole family. Fortunately, the doctor said that he was fine, but just fell asleep due to overwork and his old injuries had not yet healed.

Just take the medicine and rest for a few days.

He rested for three days, even the Mid-Autumn Festival. When he finally woke up, he was useless and came to his house to act like a door god to scare people.

He waved his hand dismissively, "Your mother is up, go in. It's a good opportunity to stay and have breakfast with her."

Lou Yunchun nodded, "Okay."

After scolding his son, Lou Jing went to the front yard.

Lou Yunchun entered the house, greeted his mother first, and then remained silent, but did not leave.

The mother and son looked at each other in silence for a while, and it was Mrs. Lou who spoke first, asking a few questions about his job.

Lou Yunchun answered all the questions one by one, and then waited for Lou Jing to come back, and the family of three had breakfast together.

Lou Jing had noticed something was wrong with his son long ago. After calling the servant to ask him, he understood what his stupid son was trying to do, but he pretended to know nothing.

Even after finishing breakfast and when the couple was about to go out, he still hadn't finished speaking. Lou Jing sighed and wondered how he could have given birth to such a fool.

Lou Yunchun saw his parents off and helped them into the car. Before leaving, Lou Jing slammed a letter on his son's head and cursed, "You're just a gourd with the mouth sawed off!"

Then he asked the guards to drive out of the city.

Lou Yunchun took the letter and read it on the spot. The letter briefly described Xu Jiang's situation in Chongzhou, reported her safety to her parents, asked about their recent situation, and also asked about his news, asking whether he had returned to Beijing or whether he had sent any letters back from home.

He picked up a few words of concern and greetings and chewed them over again and again. Then he put the letter in his pocket and led his horse towards Yonghefang.

Yin Yin stayed there for a long while until Lou Yunchun disappeared around the corner. Then she came to her senses, climbed into the carriage and followed him.

————Dividing Line————

Yonghefang, Huailiu Lane, Zhanchun Bookstore.

Yesterday was the Mid-Autumn Festival. Liang Mo sent holiday gifts to old customers, paper and ink merchants, bookstores, and neighbors according to the list left by Xu Jiang.

In addition to mooncakes and osmanthus wine, each household was given a flower-shaped full moon seal carved by himself, which could be used to order cakes and pastries or as a seal for festival gifts.

This gift was just as Xu Jiang said. Although it was not expensive, it was full of sincerity and received good feedback.

The return gifts from some old customers also became more interesting because of this chapter, including calligraphy and paintings, poems, collectibles, and books, of various types.

There were some things Liang Mo couldn't understand, so he asked Zeng Zhui and Hu Xu for help. The two found them interesting, so they gave him poems, calligraphy and paintings in return. This back and forth eventually attracted people to the bookstore.

Fortunately, before the festival, Liang Mo and Yin Yin cleaned the bookstore thoroughly inside and out, reorganized the book categories, fumigated it with mugwort and cork, and hung new lanterns.

The bookstore is kept neat and tidy, which makes customers feel comfortable.

The Liangyi couch in the backyard has not been dismantled since Guard Xue and Guard Zhu stayed behind to guard the shop. It is now occupied by Mr. Ji Shan, Deng Yuechuan and other gentlemen.

Since Xu Jiang left, they had come a few times, but they only came to choose books and did not stay long.

I was invited here today by Zeng Zhui and Hu Xu. Upon learning that they were coming, Yuan Zuzhi came with Xun Yan as well. After he introduced them, they hit it off immediately and sat down to discuss articles and theories.

Zeng Zhui and Hu Xu served tea and recorded the words and actions of several people. With them around, Liang Mo concentrated on guarding outside. Occasionally, when a scholar came after hearing the news, he would go into the courtyard to pass on the message.

When it comes to interesting things, it is always interrupted by the scholars' red tape, which ruins one's interest.

Yuan Zuzhi simply asked Liang Mo to open the corner door, and told the scholars coming in not to greet each other and to enter quietly so as not to disturb everyone's conversation.

Liang Mo did as he was told and wrote on two wooden boards and hung them in front of the main gate and the corner gate. Whenever someone came to ask, he would point at the wooden boards and lead them in.

Before long, the courtyard was full of people, but apart from a few gentlemen, there was no noise.
