Xu Jiang's return suddenly made Huailiu Lane lively. Xu Jiang made a list of the things that the caravan had brought back a few days ago and asked Liang Mo to dispatch and distribute them.
There are notes on which ones to keep and which ones to give to whom.
The neighbors in Huailiu Lane also had some, and they were all Chongzhou specialties. Although they were not expensive, they were a rare good fortune for ordinary people.
So, when they learned that Xu Jiang had returned, everyone came to her house to express their gratitude and return the gifts.
When Liang Mo arrived, he saw this lively scene.
"The boss is back?" Liang Mo stood at the entrance of the alley for a long time, leading the stubborn donkey, and then hurriedly pulled it into the bookstore.
Xu Jiang was sending a few neighbors out the door when he saw Liang Mo and waved at him with a smile, "Liang Mo, long time no see."
Liang Mo's face was full of surprise, "Boss! When did you come back?"
"Yesterday, I entered the city late, so I didn't come to the market." Xu Jiang looked at the stubborn donkey and was immediately shocked by its fat body. "What have you been feeding it during my absence?"
"It's the autumn harvest, and there are a lot of low-quality fruits and vegetables piling up at home. We can't sell them, and we can't eat them all. My mother said it would be a pity to let them rot, so she fed them to the donkeys, chickens, and ducks."
Liang Mo patted the stubborn donkey's butt and said, "Your master is back, but you won't have anything to eat from now on."
Xu Jiang laughed and said, "You talk as if I'm torturing it." As she spoke, she walked forward and reached out to touch the stubborn donkey's head. She hadn't seen it for more than two months and she missed it a little.
But the stubborn donkey turned his head and stared at her warily.
Xu Jiang felt empty, glanced sideways, and then narrowed his eyes.
The stubborn donkey scratched its hooves.
"You still dare to kick?" Xu Jiang's gentle caress turned into a slap in the face. The stubborn donkey was stunned, and a trace of doubt flashed in his two black holes.
Why does this feel familiar?
Xu Jiang raised her palm again, and it tactfully put its head into her palm and rubbed it.
Xu Jiang slapped it first, then touched it, "Stupid donkey, I've raised you for so many years, and you're not as good as my uncle jackal."
When the jackal uncle saw her, he still wagged his tail, but this stupid donkey only recognized the slap and not the person.
Liang Mo interceded for the fool, "It's because you've been gone for too long, boss."
It’s been nearly three months since I left Beijing, which is a bit long.
"I heard from your brother Lou and Yinyin that you've managed the bookstore very well." Xu Jiang asked with a smile, "How does it feel to be the shopkeeper?"
Liang Mo felt a little embarrassed by the praise, "I'm afraid of disappointing the shopkeeper's trust." And there was also the 5,000 yuan salary.
"You didn't let me down, and I didn't misjudge him." Liang Mo took good care of both the bookstore and the stubborn donkey.
Liang Mo felt a little embarrassed and touched the stubborn donkey's ears. "I'll go tie up the donkey first and hand it over to you, the shopkeeper, later."
Xu Jiang nodded, "Go ahead."
Liang Mo went to the backyard, but Yin Yin ran out in a hurry.
Xu Jiang caught her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Yin Yin covered her mouth and said, "Liang Mo is here!"
Xu Jiang pulled her hand down and asked, "What are you covering? Are you not going to see him today? Are you going to cover your mouth when you see him?"
"He will laugh at me." When Shopkeeper Wang saw her just now, he laughed at her for a long time, so she hid in the kitchen and didn't dare to greet the neighbors who came to visit.
"You're afraid of being laughed at, yet you still dare to eat carelessly?" She pouted, looking even more like a carp. Xu Jiang couldn't help pinching her.
Yin Yin said obediently, "I won't dare to do it again. From now on, I will stay away from Doctor Wu's house."
Xu Jiang laughed heartily, then said, "Come in, there are more people outside. If you're afraid of Liang Mo laughing, aren't you afraid of everyone else laughing?"
Yin Yin thought about it and agreed, and followed Xu Jiang into the house again.
After tying up the donkey, Liang Mo entered the bookstore and saw Xu Jiang reading a newly published book. Feeling a little uneasy, he went up to her and asked, "Boss, what do you think?"
"Not bad." Xu Jiang was holding Hu Xu's newly published collection of essays. "Has Zhuchun helped proofread it?"
"Yeah." Seeing her satisfied expression, Liang Mo felt relieved. "Brother Zeng, Brother Hu, and Shopkeeper Wang have all helped a lot these days. When the book was first put on the shelves, if it weren't for them, Yinyin and I would have been too busy to handle it, so we later rented the plates to other bookstores. We still follow the old rules. No high price, no reprints, and our bookstore's joint seal is required."
You've really made a lot of progress! Xu Jiang gave him an admiring look and said, "Not bad, you've done it very well."
"We are all following the rules left by the owner."
"Regulations are fixed, but people are dynamic, and the market is ever-changing. It's not easy to achieve this, especially since this is your first time taking over our bookstore." Xu Jiang picked up a few more newly published storybooks and flipped through them. Then he said to Liang Mo, "But there are still many areas that need improvement. You must continue to hone your skills and not slack off."
"Yes." Liang Mo was happy to receive the praise, but being criticized for his shortcomings made him feel more at ease. "I will learn from my boss and in the future..."
"What happens next?"
"I also want to open my own engraving studio in the future."
"Good! People should have ambitions. I believe you can do it." Xu Jiang felt deeply relieved.
Liang Mo suddenly felt full of energy, and said, "Then I will clear the account book first and compare it with the boss."
Xu Jiang nodded.
The two of them started to reconcile the accounts. Liang Mo saw Yin Yin hiding in the corner cleaning the shelves, so he called out, "Yin Yin, you're in charge of the money, why don't you come over and help us reconcile?"
"No need, there's nothing wrong with the money, as long as you and Sister Xu are on the same page."
Xu Jiang was having fun while distributing tea.
Yinyin was usually the most diligent in reconciling the accounts, but today she didn't even glance at them. Liang Mo couldn't help but feel strange. He asked Xu Jiang, who kept laughing, "What's wrong?"
Xu Jiang felt ill at ease and whispered, "You'll know once you take a look."
