Chapter 28 Twenty-Eight Slashes

Just be willing to learn.

But she was still young, and Xu Jiang was worried she wouldn't be able to do it, so she discussed this with her: "How about this: you try it for three days first. If you think it's suitable, then ask your father to write the engagement letter. Okay? I'll still pay you for those three days."

Lin Hongchu nodded and agreed.

Xu Jiang asked again, "Is your home far away?"

Xu San answered for her, "Not far away, just next door in Daixianfang."

Xu Jiang nodded. It was convenient because they were close by. "So, do you want to start today, or come back tomorrow?"

Lin Hongchu replied, "Come tomorrow. We need to take care of our mother first."

"Then it's settled." Xu Jiang nodded, thought for a moment, and then reminded, "Don't come too early, just come before 9:00."

"I remember that."

After talking to Lin Hongchu, Xu Jiang wanted to ask Xu San to sit with her for a while, but the two of them had other things to do, so they excused her and left.

Lin Hongchu came at the right time the next day.

Xu Jiang started with sweeping and tidying up, and helped her familiarize herself with the affairs of the shop. She also explained the categories of books, classification of calligraphy and paintings, and how to arrange the miscellaneous items that Hu Xu had reorganized.

Lin Hongchu took a pen and paper and wrote it down carefully. If there was anything she didn't understand, she would ask Xu Jiang again. She tried to figure it out over and over again. In the afternoon, she pulled Xu Jiang aside to test her.

Xu Jiang asked a few random questions, and she answered them all.

"You remember things so quickly." Xu Jiang felt that although she didn't know as much as Hu Xu, she was very hardworking and studious. She also had a complex quality of calmness and youthfulness that made people like her involuntarily.

"Tomorrow the boss will teach me how to copy and annotate."

"Are you tired after studying all day?"

"Not tired."

Xu Jiang pulled her aside to sit down and drink tea, "But I'm tired."

After three days, Lin Hongchu was completely familiar with the affairs of the shop. However, he still had to take his time to do the delicate work that required experience, such as repairing, annotating, and caring for calligraphy and paintings.

Xu Jiang was very pleased with her, so she asked her to ask her father to write the engagement letter the next day.

Seeing Master Lin, Xu Jiang was startled. It wasn't that Master Lin looked ferocious, but rather that he carried an air of dignity that made people afraid to offend or act rashly, which reminded Xu Jiang of her own teacher.

He is also a ruthless character who can scare children to tears with just a glare.

Xu Jiang respectfully invited him into the shop and served him tea. She then explained the situation of the shop to him in detail. After he nodded in agreement, she wrote the letter of appointment and asked him to sign it.

Master Lin read the engagement letter carefully before signing it together with Lin Hongchu.

Lin Qinnian.

The three thin and strong characters made Xu Jiang's words seem so fragile that Xu Jiang couldn't help feeling ashamed.

"I'll be grateful for your care from now on, Manager Xu." After signing the contract, Lin Qinnian's attitude became much more friendly.

Xu Jiang repeatedly assured him that he could leave Lin Hongchu to her without worry and that she would never treat her unfairly.

Lin Qinnian also instructed Lin Hongchu to follow Xu Jiang's arrangements and not to cause trouble for the bookstore. Lin Hongchu also responded respectfully, and he left with peace of mind.

After seeing Lin Qinnian off, Xu Jiang and Lin Hongchu both breathed a sigh of relief, and then smiled at the same time.

"I'm afraid of my father, but why is the boss afraid too?"

Xu Jiang asked in return, "Is there anyone who is not afraid of your father?"

Lin Hongchu thought about it, then shook his head, and the two laughed again.

Xu Jiang picked up the letter of appointment and stared at the three words "Lin Qinnian" for a long time. He could sense a sense of familiarity from the sharp pen strokes.

Where had she seen this handwriting?
