Xu Jiang frowned immediately.
Ilale stood up and walked over, protecting Uluolan behind him, but the man refused to give in and insisted that Uluolan go with him for a drink.
Seeing that Wuluolan refused, she raised her voice and sneered, "A Huji, a dancing girl, now that you have come out to show yourselves in public, why are you pretending to be a noble and saintly woman?"
Ilale's face darkened. "Watch your mouth."
But the man's words became more and more unpleasant. "You've already come out to sell yourself, and you're still afraid of what people say?"
Wuluolan said calmly, "I'm not selling my dance, and I'm not selling myself either. Please respect yourself, my guests."
The man was humiliated and his face flushed red. "Everyone knows that you Hu women are loose and promiscuous. You flirt with men on stage, but pretend to be nice in front of me. Are you thinking I can't afford the money and looking down on me?"
Yilaer grabbed the man by the collar and said, "Go out and ask around. We at the Sang family never engage in prostitution. The guests who come here are here to enjoy the singing and dancing. If you want to find women, go to a brothel. Don't pollute this beautiful place." Then he shouted inside, "Two people, throw him out."
He was about to have the man taken out, but the man shouted, "Who dares! I'm the nephew of the current Minister of Revenue, and my eldest brother owns the best bookstore in the capital. If you dare to be rude to me, I'll have your shop shut down tomorrow."
At this time, the shopkeeper of Sangjiawazi saw the commotion and came over to mediate. He first asked Yilaer to release the man, and then apologized on behalf of Mr. Zhou. The shopkeeper was a Han Chinese. He had been working at Sangjiawazi for many years and was used to this kind of thing. He talked Mr. Zhou into peace with just a few words.
But in the end, Master Zhou insisted that Wu Luolan drink to apologize. The shopkeeper knew that this man should not be offended, so he had to persuade Wu Luolan.
Yilaer refused but was stopped by Wuluolan. She endured the humiliation and poured wine to toast Mr. Zhou. Mr. Zhou was very proud and was about to take the glass of wine, but a hand came across and took the glass away first.
It was Xu Jiang.
Xu Jiang drank the wine slowly and said to Wuluolan with a smile: "Wulolan's wine should be offered to friends, not to dogs and pigs."
Mr. Zhou was dumbfounded. Where did this woman come from? Hearing her rude words, he immediately flew into a rage, "How dare you call me a pig or a dog?"
"Oh, so you can understand human language." Xu Jiang smiled and turned around, but his eyes were cold. "I heard a dog barking just now and thought it was a stray dog begging for food."
As soon as she finished speaking, the whole room burst into laughter, and Mr. Zhou's face turned red with embarrassment.
"Village woman! Do you know who I am? How dare you be so presumptuous?"
"He's the brother of Zhou Shancai, the owner of Jisheng Bookstore, and the nephew of Lord Zhou Huai, the Minister of Revenue, right?"
Upon hearing this, Master Zhou's aura grew even more arrogant. "You know this, yet you still dare to offend me? I see you're just a woman. If you kneel down and beg for mercy, I'll forgive you. Otherwise, I'll make sure you can't stay in this capital!"
Xu Jiang snorted and laughed, then addressed the assembled guests, "I'm sure you all have heard and understood. Today, this Mr. Zhou, leveraging his power as Vice Minister of Revenue and the capital's premier bookstore, is oppressing the innocent citizens of foreign lands. Acting so arrogantly beneath the Emperor's feet, where does he place the teachings of the sages and the principles of state?"
There was a chorus of agreement from all around, and Mr. Zhou's expression became even uglier.
Xu Jiang turned and stared at him, then continued, "Mr. Zhou, I advise you to keep quiet and get out of here."
She put her knowledge into practice, using Lou Yunchun's talk about the control of Liquanfang to scare people. "You should know that Liquanfang is not under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Revenue. If this matter is reported to the Honglu Temple and then to the Censorate, your Zhou family will be charged with knowingly breaking the law and bullying others. Not only you, I'm afraid even your uncle and eldest brother will not be able to bear the consequences."
Upon hearing this, Young Master Zhou felt a little uneasy and was about to back out, but for the sake of saving face, he forced himself to say, "What are you talking about, a little girl? You're even causing trouble at the Honglu Temple and the Censorate. How can you be so bold?"
Xu Jiang was about to say something else when someone stood up behind him and said in a deep voice, "Does the Dali Temple have any face?"
Lou Yunchun stood beside Xu Jiang with a cold face, his eyes fierce and murderous, which frightened everyone.
The shopkeeper hadn't noticed him before, and when he saw him, he stuttered, "Lou, Mr. Lou, you've come to visit me, why haven't you said a word?"
Could it be that there is another case?
"The Junior Minister of the Dali Temple, Lou Yunchun?" someone nearby exclaimed.
"Why is he here too?"
"Oh my, we can't watch this show anymore, let's go."
"Why are you leaving? Isn't this more interesting than a play?"
Master Zhou was already frightened by Xu Jiang's words, and when he heard Lou Yunchun introduce himself, he suddenly froze and couldn't even speak.
Xu Jiang stopped talking and whispered, "Get out of here."
The people who were sitting at the same table with Master Zhou quickly left. One person, who was quite kind, pulled Master Zhou aside and whispered, "You can't afford to offend this living devil. Leave now."
Young Master Zhou could only snort coldly and followed them dejectedly.
After the man left, the shopkeeper hurried over and asked respectfully, "Master Lou, are you here to investigate a case? We are all doing legitimate business and have not done anything illegal."
Lou Yunchun stared at him in silence. Xu Jiang quickly stepped forward and said, "Boss, please be patient. We are only here to meet friends and watch a play, not on any official business."
Yilaer nodded and said, "Boss, Master Lou and Madam Xu are here to see me." He then bowed to Lou Yunchun and Xu Jiang and said, "Thank you for helping Wuluolan out."
Uluolan also bowed to the two of them.
Seeing her eyes were red, Xu Jiang quickly pulled her over and said with a smile, "Since we are all friends, there is no need to be polite."
