Chapter 35 Thirty-five Cuts

Lou Yunchun walked over and lowered his head towards her.

Seeing this, Xu Jiang smiled helplessly and stood on tiptoe to put it on him.

When tying the rope, her hand inevitably touched his face, which felt a little hot, so she asked worriedly, "Why is it so hot? Did you catch a cold?" As she spoke, she put her palm against his face again, but it felt even hotter.

Lou Yunchun endured for a long time before whispering, "It's not a cold."

Oh my God!

Xu Jiang realized belatedly that she had made a stupid mistake and tried to withdraw her hand immediately, but he held her down.

The warmth on Lou Yunchun's face immediately transferred from his palm to her cheek, staining it with a cloud of light.

After a long while, Lou Yunchun finally said, "I'm leaving."

The hat blocked the night wind and also blocked the kiss he placed on the palm of her hand.

The sound of horse hooves faded away, and Xu Jiang slammed the door shut absentmindedly. Mumu extinguished the fire in a daze, and stupidly crawled into the bed, holding his hands in his hands in a daze.

The donkey in the straw shed was sleeping soundly, but suddenly it heard a few mournful cries, which scared it so much that it jumped up from its roost.

It looked around but saw no other movement, so it angrily barked a few times towards Xu Jiang's house, as if scolding her for disturbing its sweet sleep.

Xu Jiang opened the door and threw a pillow at it in a blaming gesture.

"Why are you yelling? Are you going to let me sleep?"

It's really infuriating.

The next day, Zhong Lu arrived early in the morning. Seeing the dark circles under Xu Jiang's eyes, he asked with concern, "Didn't you get enough rest, Manager Xu? Don't rely on your youth and overwork yourself."

Xu Jiang laughed dryly twice, invited him into the house, lit the stove to boil water, and made two cups of tea.

After they sat down, Zhong Lu placed a wooden box on the table and opened it to show Xu Jiang.

"These are the twelve damaged volumes of the county annals."

As soon as Xu Jiang saw the scroll head and the flying pieces, she knew that it was seriously damaged. She carefully picked up a scroll and unfolded it. Seeing the fragments flying around, she quickly slowed down her movements.

She took out a few more volumes and looked at them, frowning.

Seeing her serious expression, Zhong Lu asked anxiously, "Can't it be repaired?"

Xu Jiang simply flipped through all twelve volumes, only to find herself overwhelmed. However, she still said, "It can be repaired."

This was my first time dealing with Zhong Lu, and since it was an assignment for the History Museum, I had to accept it even if it was difficult to do.

Xu Jiang estimated for a moment and then asked, "It will take some time, can you wait?"

"How long will it take?"

"At least three or four months."

Zhong Lu breathed a sigh of relief. "I can wait. As long as the task is completed before July next year, I can wait for half a year, not to mention three or four months."

"That's good." Xu Jiang accepted the twelve incomplete volumes, thought for a moment, and then said, "Sir, I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you to send the other twenty-eight volumes. These twelve volumes are badly damaged and need to be sorted out before the incomplete parts can be repaired."

"Okay, I'll have someone bring it over later." Zhong Lu's expression relaxed after a worry was put to rest. "As long as you do a good job in an imperial job, you'll get both wages and rewards. Besides, the History Bureau has a lot of such jobs. As long as your shop's craftsmanship can pass the higher-ups' approval, those lazy guys won't bother looking for another one."

It was because of this that Xu Jiang agreed to the repair. She had just established herself in the capital, and if she could establish contact with the History Museum, it would naturally be easier for her to do things in the future.

"Don't worry, sir. Now that I've accepted this job, I won't let it go to waste."

Zhong Luchang laughed, "Okay, I hope I didn't find the wrong person."

After seeing Zhong Lu off, Lin Hongchu arrived.

Her eyes were also pale, and she walked unsteadily, looking as if her soul had left her body.

Xu Jiang thought to herself: "It's normal for me to toss and turn and not be able to sleep. This little girl is not that old, why wouldn't she be sleeping?" So she grabbed her and questioned her.

Lin Hongchu hesitated for a long time without saying anything, then handed the marriage certificate that Master Lin asked her to bring to her and ran away.

"This little girl."

Xu Jiang took the marriage certificate into the house, sat by the fire and opened it to read:

The two families unite in marriage, a pact signed in one hall, a blessed bond forever sealed, a match made in heaven. Behold the peach blossoms of this day, a perfect match for the home, and may your descendants prosper and flourish in the years to come. I hereby write upon this long-lived promise, so that the covenant of red leaves may be recorded in the genealogy of love. This is my testimony.

Xu Jiang looked at Master Lin's handwriting with envy, read the marriage certificate over and over again, and then took a piece of paper to trace the testimony, waiting to copy it when she had time.

She put the marriage certificate away, wrote a letter to Du Hui, and then called a runner to deliver the marriage certificate and letter to Cao Shu and Du Hui's houses.

After finishing these trivial matters, Xu Jiang called Lin Hongchu out and asked her to guard the shop while he went out.

"Where is the boss going?"

Xu Jiang tugged at her clothes, coughed lightly, and said, "It's the clothing store on the next street."

"The boss wants to buy some clothes?"

Tomorrow is Mrs. Lou’s birthday party. Although she doesn’t pay much attention to her clothes on weekdays, it’s not appropriate to be too casual on such an occasion, so she plans to buy two outfits on the spot.

Seeing that Lin Hongchu's clothes were a bit old, he grabbed her and took her measurements, thinking of buying her a new set.

Young ladies should dress brightly to look energetic.

"Keep it safe. If anyone comes looking, postpone it to the afternoon or another day."

"I understand." Lin Hongchu was dizzy after being rubbed by her. After she walked a long way away, she remembered that she had to go to the Lou family for a banquet tomorrow.

No wonder he wants to buy new clothes. It seems that the boss really values Mr. Lou.

As soon as Xu Jiang left, Lin Hongchu saw Hu Xu coming from another street. Thinking about how passionate Xu Jiang and Lou Yunchun were yesterday, she couldn't help but feel bad for him when she saw him coming with a happy look on his face.

Hu Xu came over and smiled at her, "Is the boss here?"

Lin Hongchu forced a smile and said, "I went out to do some work. I just left." Then he asked, "Brother, do you have something to do with the boss?"
