Xu Jiang came out of the workshop, feeling relieved, and then quickly turned into another street to avoid meeting that Manager Wu again.
She pondered all the way, thinking about what Manager Wu said, and thought to herself: The Jisheng Bookstore has indeed blocked her way to publishing books.
For this printing, she took advantage of the elementary school in selecting materials, and with the help of Du Hui, she asked the Imperial College for permission, so that she could publish this set of books.
But in the future, she would not be able to just print primers or the Four Books and Five Classics. If she wanted to publish poetry collections, travel notes, notes, vernacular books and other casual books, she would have to go through the government office and the Ministry of Revenue. Just as Manager Wu said, she needed the approval of the Zhou family.
But if she were to collude with those book thieves just to publish a book, it would be better for her to stop doing it.
She scratched her head in annoyance, and the more she thought about it, the more frustrated she became. Finally, she simply pulled out the mess and threw it under her feet, stomping it until it turned into ashes.
Forget it, let’s finish the current matter first, and then discuss it with Du Hui and others. Maybe they have other ways.
What's more, there is Lou Yunchun. Since he is investigating the Ministry of Revenue, he should be able to offer some advice.
Thinking of this, all her restlessness was blown away, and she walked towards Kuiwazi with brisk steps.
Kuiwazi was very happy to see her coming. He took a look at her list of ingredients and found that he could also make most of the ingredients for his stall.
"Agastache rugosa and radix strychnifolia are out of season at this time. If you want to buy them, you'll probably have to go to a pharmacy."
"That's for sure."
Xu Jiang took the large and small packages, counted the money with him, and then casually asked, "How's your sister-in-law these days? I heard that the heavy snow a few days ago collapsed many houses in the suburbs. Has her family been affected?"
Kuiwazi smiled and said, "Her family lives at the foot of Huangyan Mountain, so they weren't affected by the disaster. It's just that the snow is thick in the mountains, and it's hard for them to come out since they're old, so they're staying in the house for the winter."
"That's good." Xu Jiang felt relieved and said to Kui Wazi, "If you go to see her, please tell her well for me."
"Thank you for your concern. I will." Kuiwazi walked her out of the shop. "Goodbye, come again."
After buying the materials, Xu Jiang went to buy two cutting knives, then went to Zhao Zhang's place to take the donkey back to Yonghefang to ask Doctor Chen to prescribe two medicines.
Doctor Chen took a look at her recipe for making paste and was quite curious. Xu Jiang copied a copy for him and asked him to think about it slowly. She then asked about Mrs. Lin's condition.
"Now we focus on warming and nourishing the body, and have reduced the amount of medicines we used before."
"Why? Didn't they say it was effective?"
"She's been ill for a long time, and it's difficult to reverse her condition. A temporary cure doesn't guarantee long-term recovery. Furthermore, the medicine is strong, and taking it will inevitably cause her pain." Doctor Chen looked gloomy, and sighed again, "For a fatal disease, there's no point in taking bitter medicine. Let's give her some relief in the remaining days."
After all, it is difficult to stay in this world, and Xu Jiang couldn't help feeling heavy in her heart.
"Life and death are common to all human beings." Doctor Chen prescribed medicine for her. He didn't know if it was to comfort her or himself, but added, "I see that they are quite open-minded. Why should others add to their troubles?"
Xu Jiang forced a smile, "That's true."
"You don't have to pay for these two medicines." Doctor Chen packed the medicine and handed it to her.
Xu Jiang hurriedly said, "No, that would be like me taking advantage of you."
"Your prescription is worth more than these two herbs." Doctor Chen stuffed the medicine into her hands and said hurriedly, "I have other patients. Go back and don't keep me up."
Xu Jiang was driven out and had to pull her donkey back.
When he returned to the market, he saw Yilale and Lin Hongchu standing at the door talking.
Seeing her return, Lin Hongchu hurried over to help lead her donkey, and whispered, "Master, you should entertain him yourself. This man is too self-confident. I can't handle him."
Xu Jiang smiled and slapped her, sending her away. Then Yilale asked, "How long have we been here?"
Yilale clutched his stomach and said, "I've already drunk two bowls of tea. This girl in your bookstore is really weird. She keeps asking me to drink tea. She's filled my stomach with water and I'm feeling a bit bloated."
Seeing Xu Jiang laughing non-stop, he thought she was happy to see him, so he smiled too and said, "I'll bring you some mare's milk and some wine."
"Let me have a taste." She had first seen this mare's milk wine in Mo Ming's notes and had been craving it ever since. She had never expected that she could actually drink it in the Central Plains.
As soon as Xu Jiang entered the bookstore, he saw a row of wine bags lying on the table. After counting them, he found that there were six of them.
"Why did you bring so much?" Mare's milk wine was rare and precious, so she couldn't bear to accept so much for nothing. "I only need one bag."
Ilale raised his beard and frowned, "You don't want to accept it?"
Xu Jiang quickly changed her tone, "Take it, take it, I'm afraid you'll give it all to me and you won't have anything left to drink."
"I still have some."
"That's good." Xu Jiang said to Lin Hongchu in the backyard, "Hongchu, bring out two bowls."
"Here they come." Lin Hongchu brought three bowls.
The little girl stared at the wine bags with a greedy look on her face. When Ilale came, he caught her and praised the mare's milk wine to the skies. She had wanted to try it for a long time.
Xu Jiang took her bowl and said, "How old are you? What are you drinking? Go play somewhere else."
If she dared to let Lin Hongchu drink, Master Lin would probably come and beat her up tomorrow.
Yilaer, however, dragged the bowl back to Lin Hongchu and gave Xu Jiang a disapproving look. "The girls in our hometown have been drinking this mare's milk wine since they were young. The more they drink, the more beautiful they become. Come, let me pour it for you."
"Really? The more you drink, the prettier you become?" Lin Hongchu's eyes lit up.
Yilale picked up a wine bag, uncorked it, and poured a bowl for Lin Hongchu. "Try it."
Xu Jiang wanted to stop him, but was blocked by his long arm. Lin Hongchu quickly picked up the bowl and took a sip.
"It's delicious and sweet." He said and took two more sips.
