Yuan Zuzhi's house is in Qunxianfang. It can be reached directly from Yonghefang to the south by a road, and it only takes half an hour to ride a donkey.
It snowed all night last night, covering the ground with a pile of white snow. The plum blossoms in Yuan Mansion must have become even more fragrant after experiencing the bitter cold.
The banquet was scheduled for noon. Seeing that it was still early, Xu Jiang found the volume "Journey West to Suiye City" and found the record about the whereabouts of Dong Lingzi's disciples.
She carefully compared the years, and found out the relevant travel notes about the towns of Kucha, Shule and Khotan, and read through them page by page.
Suiye City, Kucha, Shule, and Yutian are the four towns of Anxi in the Anxi Protectorate. People there are alive. If Donglingzi and his disciples really appeared in Suiye City, they might also appear in the neighboring towns.
Just as I was reading with fascination, Lin Hongchu came with two men following him.
"Please come in, both of you."
Xu Jiang looked up, beckoned Lin Hongchu over, and asked in a low voice, "Where did you come from?"
"I met them on the road and saw they were asking about our bookshop, so I brought them here."
inquire about?
Xu Jiang's expression changed, a friendly smile appeared on his face, and he stood up and walked towards the two people who were looking around.
"I don't know what you two would like to buy. This shop is small and the goods are not many. Why don't you tell me and I will find it for you."
When one of them saw her, he seemed to know her, with a familiar look in his eyes. He bowed to her and said, "Hello, Madam Xu."
Xu Jiang asked in surprise, "Sir, do you know me?"
He replied, "I've seen it before in Xieyue Tower."
Xu Jiang looked at the two men carefully, but didn't have much of an impression. She smiled and said, "There were so many people that day that I didn't remember everyone. I'm sorry for neglecting you two."
Seeing that the two men were behaving politely and didn't seem like they were looking for trouble, he asked again, "I wonder what brings you here today?"
"My name is Feng Miao, and this is my classmate Zhou Huai. I was so impressed by your bravery in helping Zeng Zhui that day that I've always wanted to visit your shop and make some friends with you."
Make friends? Xu Jiang raised her eyebrows slightly.
"Thank you for your high regard, sir. I was just not pleased with you that day."
Zhou Huai stared at Xu Jiang with a look that made her feel disgusted.
Xu Jiang remained calm and said, "Everyone who comes is a guest. Please take a seat, Hongchu, serve tea."
"Hey." Lin Hongchu set the teacup on the table and added more tea. When she handed the tea to Zhou Huai, he reached out to take it and, whether intentionally or not, rubbed the back of Lin Hongchu's hand.
Lin Hongchu frowned, feeling disgusted.
She glanced at Zhou Huai, but saw that he looked as if nothing had happened. She stepped aside and rubbed her hands.
When Xu Jiang saw this, he became furious. He then separated Lin Hongchu and sat opposite them.
Feng Miao sat down, looked around, and said politely, "Although Madam Xu's bookshop is small, it looks like it has a complete range of products, not much worse than those mainstream bookstores."
Xu Jiang stared at him for a moment, noticing a look of restraint and guilt on his face. She sneered inwardly, but said gently on the surface, "How dare such a humble place compare with the great bookstores in the city?"
She glanced at Zhou Huai and smiled, "Take the Jisheng Bookstore for example. It occupies most of Shoukangfang Street. Its grandeur makes a small bookstore like ours feel ashamed just thinking about it."
When Zhou Huai heard this, a hint of satisfaction appeared on his face.
It seems that they are really members of the Zhou family. Xu Jiang felt relieved and looked relaxed.
Feng Miao smiled and said, "The big have their generosity, the small have their elegance." Then he changed the subject somewhat abruptly, "The other day, I saw Madam Xu getting along well with Master Lin, Mr. Du, and Mr. Lou. I guess they have some kind of friendship."
"We can't really call each other friends, but we've discussed business a few times. Is Mr. Feng familiar with them?"
"How could I possibly be considered such a talent? I simply admire his talent." Feng Miao waved his hands repeatedly and asked, "I heard Zeng Zhui has been accepted as a disciple by Mr. Du?"
Xu Jiang made herself some tea and said, "The news spreads pretty fast."
"I happen to know two scholars who often visit Mr. Du's house, and I heard what they said."
Xu Jiang looked up at him. "Mr. Du is so famous, I thought only his disciples dared to come here. I wonder who these two talented people are, but I admire them so much. If you know them, Mr. Feng, why not introduce them to one or two?"
Feng Miao laughed dryly and drank tea to hide his embarrassment.
Don't think before telling a lie.
Xu Jiang was about to put down the teapot when she saw Zhou Huai looking at her with obscene eyes. She tilted the teapot in her hand and poured the scalding tea towards him.
"Ouch!" The tea happened to spill on Zhou Huai's lower abdomen, scalding him so much that he jumped up.
"Oh, I was so busy talking to Master Feng that I lost my aim. Master Zhou, you got burned." Xu Jiang stood up with the teapot in her hand and was about to go over to check.
Zhou Huai quickly stopped her, "Don't come over here! Be careful with the tea!"
Feng Miao hurriedly stopped her and went over to help Zhou Huai check and tidy up. Fortunately, not much tea was spilled and his winter clothes were thick, otherwise Zhou Huai's lower body would be in trouble.
"Are you okay?" Xu Jiang stretched his neck and asked with concern.
"Why not..." Zhou Huai was about to get angry, but was suppressed by Feng Miao. He snorted coldly, turned sideways, lifted up his skirt, and looked very ugly.
Feng Miao turned around and said to Xu Jiang, "Nothing's wrong, just my clothes are wet."
"I'm so sorry."
Feng Miao was stunned when he saw her half-smile. Then he realized that she didn't do it by accident, but did it on purpose.
She saw through my intentions.
"Brother Zhou's clothes are wet, and I don't want to be disrespectful in front of others. Plus, the weather is cold, and I'm afraid he'll freeze. If you want to go back and change clothes, we won't bother you anymore."
He couldn't stay any longer, so he laughed dryly, found an excuse, bowed to Xu Jiang and said goodbye, then hurried away with Zhou Huai.
Seeing the man walk away, Xu Jiang snorted coldly and put the teapot back on the stove.
