One is vulgar and obscene, the other is just empty formalities. It's such a waste of her good tea and polluted her clean place.
Lin Hongchu rushed to the door and said "Pah!", rubbing her hands in disgust. Still feeling sticky, she rushed to the backyard to wash them. Xu Jiang asked her to smash the teacups they had used, as they were dirty.
Xu Jiang stared at the notes in front of him, but his mind drifted to Jisheng Bookstore.
The two people today were obviously sent by Zhou Shancai. They were trying to find out about her relationship with Du Hui and others in subtle ways, and no one knew what they were trying to do.
The only thing I can be sure of is that he must be up to no good and has no good intentions.
"I won't bring anyone back with me next time!"
Lin Hongchu took a rag and wiped the place where the two people had sat, and then wiped the floor again.
"No matter how quiet the place is, we don't need such filthy people coming in as customers!"
Xu Jiang saw that she was both angry and regretful, so she advised, "Silly girl, don't get angry with yourself. It's not worth it. When we run a shop and make a living, we're bound to encounter all kinds of people. There are virtuous customers like Mr. Du and Mr. Lou, and there are also filthy people like Feng Miao and Zhou Huai. We should respect virtuous customers and punish wicked people. As long as we are honest, we have nothing to fear."
Lin Hongchu came up to her and pouted, "That being said, I'm still angry. Just thinking about him touching my hand makes me sick."
Xu Jiang grabbed her hand, patted it, and coaxed her, "Next time he dares to come, I'll pour boiling water all over him and burn him to death. That way, our little hoe will get his revenge!"
When Lin Hongchu thought of Zhou Huai screaming in pain from being scalded, his anger turned into joy and he burst out laughing.
"He deserves to be scalded to death!"
Seeing her happy, Xu Jiang pinched her face and said to her, "It's cleaned up well enough. Stop wasting time and help me look through these books to see if you can find any clues about the Dongling Sect disciples."
"Okay, I'll go wash my hands and come back."
The two of them worked together and searched through several books over and over again, and they actually found something.
"Boss, look at this." Lin Hongchu flipped through a travelogue recording his experiences in Kucha and pointed to a line of words. "It says 'Discussing the Dao with Zichu at the Thousand Buddha Caves.' Isn't this Zichu the twelfth disciple of Dong Lingzi?"
"It's true!" Xu Jiang took the note and took a look. The year and month recorded on it were only one year apart from the year and month recorded in "Journey West to Suiye City".
She then read the note twice over and discovered that among the records, besides the discussion of the Dao in the Thousand Buddha Cave, a group of monks had stayed there for three months to meditate on Buddhist rituals. She then changed her original plan to go to Loulan and headed to the Central Plains via Suiye City.
Why did they suddenly change their route to the Central Plains? Where did these monks go after arriving in the Central Plains?
Monk, Buddhist.
Xu Jiang marked it out and planned to ask Yuan Zuzhi for advice. The two of them searched carefully again, but when they found nothing else, they gave up.
Seeing that the time was right, he packed up his things and went to Yuan's mansion.
The sky cleared up after the snow, and the sun shone for a long time.
There were many pedestrians and vehicles on the road. I guess they were all taking advantage of the good weather to go out and enjoy the snow and flowers.
Xu Jiang was blinded by the sunlight and pulled out a booklet to block out the light. The stubborn donkey, on the other hand, was leisurely, stepping into the snow with its hooves, one deep step and one shallow step.
The man and the donkey soon arrived at Qunxianfang. She followed the streets and alleys, asked people, and soon arrived at the gate of Yuan's house.
Unlike the luxurious building, Yuan's house is slightly more restrained, but it also has a wide gate and thick walls. The green tiles are covered with snow, and the bamboo and cypress trees are intertwined, which is elegant.
The doorman called someone to help Xu Jiang lead the donkey, then led her into the house, and called a boy to lead Xu Jiang into the Plum Pavilion.
Xu Jiang followed the little boy through the courtyard and into the house, opened the curtains and crossed the bridge, and admired the scenery along the way. She felt that Yuan's house was cool and refreshing everywhere, which made her feel relaxed and happy.
"Madam, the Plum Pavilion is ahead."
Xu Jiang looked up and saw plum blossoms blooming on sunny branches, the sun shining brightly. The two of them passed through the courtyard gate, immersed in a fragrant breeze, and then went deeper into the red clouds. Gradually, they heard the distant voices of people and the faint sound of stringed instruments.
What a magical place.
A little boy led her along a small path into the garden, and the two of them passed flowers and brushed the snow, until they came to an elegant pavilion. Inside the pavilion, many talented people were gathered around the fire, drinking, playing the qin and the sheng.
"Sir, Madam Xu is here."
Xu Jiang quickly stepped forward to greet them, "Greetings, gentlemen." Then, with a smile, he said, "It seems I'm late."
Yuan Zuzhi also laughed, "Since you are late, why don't you come and receive the punishment?"
The wine boy beside him immediately poured a glass of wine and brought it to Xu Jiang. Xu Jiang took it calmly and drank it all in one gulp. After drinking it, she sipped it for a moment and felt a hint of bitterness and a hint of plum fragrance.
"Sir, you use plum blossoms in your wine. How elegant!"
"I told you I couldn't hide it from you." Yuan Zuzhi hurriedly called out, "Don't stand there, come and take your seat."
Her seat had been reserved long ago, with a low table and a cushion, placed between Du Hui and Lou Jing.
Just as she was sitting down, Hu Xu came over and she said with a smile, "There's someone who's even later than me."
Du Hui looked up and said coldly, "He deserves to be punished."
Xu Jiang heard a hint of complaint in his tone and guessed that he was venting his anger on Zeng Zhui, and she couldn't help laughing.
Hu Xu accepted the punishment obediently. After drinking, he sat down next to Yuan Zuzhi and asked Du Hui, "Sir, why didn't Wen Feng come today?"
Du Hui said coldly, "Busy copying books."
Xu Jiang sneered, and when she saw Du Hui glaring at her, she quickly shut up.
Seeing this, Yuan Zuzhi laughed and said, "Copying books again? How many times have you copied it?"
Lou Jing knocked on the table and counted, "Four times."
Li Tongxue jokingly said, "I think the mansion has been spending a lot of money on paper and pens lately, so I'll have to ask Madam Xu for a discount."
Xu Jiang narrowed his eyes and continued, "Of course, of course."
