Chapter 88 Eighty-Eight Slashes

Liang Mo replied, "My master said I'm not qualified to take orders yet. I'm only doing monthly work."

It's good not to be arrogant and to know one's limits.

"But as a monthly worker in my bookshop, I'm not only responsible for printing, but also for keeping the shop, taking care of miscellaneous matters, and repairing calligraphy and paintings. Can you do it?"

"If I can't do it, I can learn."

This sentence was enough. Xu Jiang had made up her mind and raised her hand to invite him to have some tea.

Liang Mo picked up the tea, took a sip, and then stopped moving, looking a little nervous.

Wu Qingchuang assured, "Don't worry, Shopkeeper Xu. I've watched this kid grow up. I know him well, and he's a really good guy, so I dared to bring him here for you."

"Thank you, Manager Wu. I'm satisfied with you." Xu Jiang saw Liang Mo breathe a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "But the rules of my shop are that you have to try him out for three days first. If you are competent after three days, then we can sign the contract. Do you think you will accept?"

Wu Qingchuang nodded, "That's what I should do."

Liang Mo had no objection.

Xu Jiang continued, "As for the wages, I'll have to see the printing before deciding, okay?"

"This is how hiring a person should be done. Shopkeeper Xu, please don't be polite with him. Craftsmen naturally earn money based on their skills. The quality of their skills varies, and the wages will naturally be high or low. Shopkeeper, please feel free to experiment." Wu Qingchuang patted Liang Mo's shoulder and said confidently, "But I dare say that Liang Mo's skills will satisfy Shopkeeper Xu."

Hearing Wu Qingchuang's praise for Liang Mo's skills, Xu Jiang couldn't suppress her curiosity and said, "Since Shopkeeper Wu said so, then I won't wait any longer. We have all the equipment, so let's go and buy a set right away."

Wu Qingchuang finished his tea, rolled up his sleeves and stood up: "Come as soon as you say so."

Xu Jiang led people to the backyard. It happened that the weather was good today, with bright sunshine shining through the clouds and a clear sky, which was perfect for printing.

The three of them worked together to bring out the tools, and then Liang Mo stopped them from interfering. He set up the table, soaked the board, mixed the ink, and cut the paper by himself. His movements were skillful and clean, and he had his own set of methods.

Even the tiny dust on the chopping board and the engraving board was cleaned away.

Everything ready, Liang Mo fished the five carved blocks out of the water, then dried them and fixed them on the chopping board. He shook his brush, then dipped it in ink, scraped off the excess, and pressed it firmly onto the carved blocks. He applied the ink in one smooth motion, without hesitation, pause, or refilling, his mind clear and his hands measured.

If I hadn't practiced hard for many years, I wouldn't be able to be so calm and composed like this.

Xu Jiang nodded with satisfaction. Seeing this, Wu Qingchuang smiled proudly.

Liang Mo began brushing the paper. He placed the paper on the block and, using a soft brush, pressed the paper and the block together tightly. He brushed five blocks simultaneously, lining them up in a row and printing them one by one. After the fifth block was finished, he peeled off the first and quickly replaced it with the second sheet of paper. This method saved both time and effort.

Xu Jiang had previously used this method when she was printing her own seals. However, it was difficult to control the amount of ink applied with this method. If the force was not strong enough, the printed characters would be uneven in depth and the ink would not be evenly distributed.

Fortunately, Lin Hongchu was there to help her, otherwise she would have been unable to do it all by herself.

At present, Liang Mo is using this method to print alone, and it is unknown how effective it is.

Xu Jiang waited and saw.
