Chapter 20 Selling Radishes with My Husband

Chapter 20 Selling Radishes with My Husband

Du Wanchun asked her, "Auntie."

Aunt He immediately snapped out of her daze, took the radish from Zhou Ruiyuan's hand, and couldn't help but exclaim, "This young man is really handsome. I've never seen anyone like him in all around here before."

Du Wanchun smiled, revealing her dimples. She knew her husband was handsome. "Auntie, try the radish first."

Aunt He stared at Zhou Ruiyuan for a while, then finally looked away and took a bite of the radish in her hand.

With that bite, those eyes sparkled like stars.

"Wanchun, your radishes are really delicious." Aunt He said, while munching on a radish without letting go.

Du Wanchun smiled and said, "Auntie, why don't we buy some to take to your house?"

Aunt He nodded repeatedly, "Okay, it just so happens that Madam just gave me money to buy radishes."

She took out some silver from her pocket and said, "But I only have sixty coins on me right now. If you sell all the radishes in your cart to me, I'll probably lose money."

Du Wanchun glanced back at the radishes in the car and nodded, "It was indeed a loss."

Aunt He raised an eyebrow and smiled, "How about this, I'll just take out another sixty coins and buy your other half too."

Du Wanchun was overjoyed, "Really?"

Aunt He laughed and said, "Of course it's true. You've been a likable person since you were little. Although you don't talk much, you're honest and reliable. And your radishes are delicious, so why wouldn't I buy them?"

Aunt He hadn't seen her for a long time. When she saw her, she didn't seem as foolish as before. She just thought that she used to be honest and didn't talk much.

"Alright, I'll get the radish down right now." Du Wanchun turned around with a smile to get the radish from the carriage.

However, before she could even get into the carriage, Zhou Ruiyuan simply lifted the radishes out of the carriage with both hands.

Although he had difficulty walking, he was extremely strong. He lifted all three large bags of radishes from the carriage to the ground by himself.

"Here, take this." Aunt He quickly took out a copper coin and handed it to Du Wanchun.

It was packed in a cloth bag, totaling one hundred and twenty coins.

After giving the money, Aunt He turned around and called the workers out to move the money.

Two or three strong men came out and carried the three large bags of radishes inside.

Du Wanchun was overjoyed as she held the copper coins in her hand; she had never held so many copper coins before.

They finished unloading the radishes they brought, and Du Wanchun said goodbye to Aunt He before getting into the carriage to go home.

Zhou Ruiyuan lifted the curtain to look at the shops outside and said, "Wanchun, shall we buy something to take back?"

Du Wanchun nodded and said, "Great, it's perfect timing to buy some rice and oil for the family."

The two drove their carriage to a nearby rice shop and bought ten catties of rice and one catty of oil.

By the time they returned to the village, it was already dark.

The road from Cheng'an County to Changliu Village is a mountain road, and the horse-drawn carriage swayed a bit as it went.

Du Wanchun sat in the carriage, feeling dizzy from the swaying.

Zhou Ruiyuan pulled back the curtain and asked her, "Are you alright?"

Du Wanchun shook her head, took out her water bottle, and took a sip of water.

Zhou Ruiyuan tightened the reins in his hands to try to keep the horse moving steadily.

Du Wanchun watched him skillfully drive the carriage and asked, "Husband, can you ride a horse?"

Zhou Ruiyuan nodded. "Yes, I've studied that before."

Upon hearing this, Du Wanchun looked at his immobile legs and couldn't help but feel pity for him.

He used to be literate and skilled in horseback riding and archery, so why did he turn out like this?

Just as she was feeling confused.

A bird suddenly flew down into the night sky.

The galloping horse was startled by the little bird. It let out a neigh and ran forward like a madman.

Du Wanchun swayed back and forth in the carriage, feeling dizzy and disoriented. "What happened? Husband!"

"The horse is startled." Zhou Ruiyuan stared intently with unfathomable eyes, his face grim, gripping the reins tightly and pulling hard on the horse.

The horse continued running forward, but due to the oppressive feeling emanating from Zhou Ruiyuan, it moved much slower than before.

Zhou Ruiyuan continued to pull, but his weak legs made it increasingly difficult for him.

The carriage was about to crash into a large tree not far away.

Zhou Ruiyuan frowned and pulled hard on the reins again with both hands.

He finally managed to turn the horse around, and at the same time, he suddenly felt a leg regain its strength.

The unexpected surprise made Zhou Ruiyuan feel as if he had regained his former high spirits. Using his waist strength, he pushed off with one leg and sat directly on the horse. Then, he pulled on the reins with both hands and made the horse stop.

The horse leaped up, let out a long roar, and stopped under Zhou Ruiyuan's restraint.

Du Wanchun was stunned by what she saw. She gripped the edge of the carriage tightly and looked at Zhou Ruiyuan with surprise, asking him, "Husband, your leg?!"
