Chapter 19 Accidentally Encountering Her Husband Changing Clothes
Zhou Ruiyuan was wearing a thin white undergarment, the front of which was open, revealing his well-defined chest.
This was the first time Du Wanchun had seen a man like this, and she quickly turned around and said, "Husband...you're changing your clothes..."
Her cheeks were flushed, and her heart was pounding rapidly.
Zhou Ruiyuan quickly fastened his collar and said to her, "Alright, come in."
Upon hearing this, Du Wanchun closed her eyes slightly, turned around, and walked towards the bedside.
Perhaps because she was too nervous, she accidentally tripped over the small stool next to the bed as she turned around, and fell forward.
The fall landed squarely in Zhou Ruiyuan's arms.
She sat on his lap, her cheek pressed against his chest through the thin undergarment, the heat of his skin seeping through the fabric sending waves of adrenaline through her.
She couldn't help but think back to that muscular chest that had stirred up so many fantasies earlier.
Zhou Ruiyuan felt a slight pain in his bones from the bump, and asked her, "Are you alright?"
Du Wanchun realized she had been impolite and quickly sat up to get ready.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Ruiyuan then put his arm around her waist.
His hands were long and wide; he could wrap his arms around her waist with just one hand.
"Husband, you..." Du Wanchun was startled. Although she was ready to share a room with Zhou Ruiyuan, his leg was still crippled. Could he manage?
To her surprise, Zhou Ruiyuan actually lifted her up by supporting her waist with both hands.
Du Wanchun instinctively tensed up and couldn't help but reach out and hug his neck.
Zhou Ruiyuan turned slightly to the side and gently placed her on the bed.
As she lay in bed, she suddenly realized that it wasn't that her husband was incapable, but that he didn't want to be right now.
Zhou Ruiyuan pushed the chair, turned to the side with his back to her, and said, "You rest first, I'm going out to read for a while."
After he finished speaking, he picked up a gray-blue long robe from the side, put it on, and pushed the chair out of the room.
Du Wanchun watched his retreating figure, and for a moment she wanted to call him back, but after thinking about it carefully, she realized that since he respected her, she would naturally respect him in return.
He must have his own concerns about not wanting to.
Du Wanchun changed out of her outer garment and went to bed.
After leaving the house, Zhou Ruiyuan went to the courtyard and read a book by the moonlight.
It's less about reading and more about venting my frustration.
A cold wind blew outside, blowing on his burning face and the "fire" in his waistband, gradually calming him down.
He leaned back in his chair, looked at the bright moon in the sky, touched his immobile leg, and his expression calmed down considerably.
This night was destined to be another sleepless one.
The next day.
Du Wanchun and Zhou Ruiyuan drove a horse-drawn carriage carrying a load of radishes into Cheng'an County.
Although Cheng'an County is located in a remote area, it is very prosperous. There are all kinds of vendors in it, and all kinds of shops are lined up in the streets and alleys. At a glance, there are shop flags fluttering in the wind, as well as a steady stream of carriages and pedestrians.
Du Wanchun hadn't been to the county for a long time, and her face was full of smiles as she looked at the lively crowd.
They drove the carriage to the back gate of the Li family's house.
Du Wanchun had Zhou Ruiyuan sit in the carriage and guard the radishes inside, then went to the back door alone to knock.
A young man in a gray shirt opened the door and asked Du Wanchun, "Are you here to deliver vegetables?"
Du Wanchun asked, "I wonder if Aunt He could come out to receive the vegetables?"
She knew that this was how people who sold vegetables to Magistrate Li's family usually delivered them, so she made a special effort to get Aunt He to come out.
“Okay, I’ll call her over right away.” The young man turned and went into the yard.
Not long after, Aunt He came out. When she saw Du Wanchun, she was stunned for a moment. "You're Wanchun, aren't you!"
Du Wanchun nodded, "Yes, Auntie."
Aunt He was very excited and took her hand, saying, "I haven't seen you much since your mother passed away. How have you been?"
Du Wanchun smiled, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons, and said, "Auntie, I'm married now."
When Aunt He heard that she had gotten married, she suddenly remembered something, and grasped her hand, saying, "I heard that your stepsister married our eldest son."
Du Wanchun nodded. "Yes, how is she now?"
Aunt He raised an eyebrow and whispered, "I don't know if it's good or bad. On the day she married into the family, the master and mistress had a huge fight. Neither of them liked her. And our young master has always been a womanizer..."
She stopped there and didn't continue.
Du Wanchun was not surprised by this. When she and her mother came to the county to deliver vegetables, she had inadvertently heard that some of the young masters in the county were spoiled brats.
Now that Aunt He says that Young Master Li is the same, it doesn't seem strange at all.
"Whether it's good or bad, it's her own choice." Du Wanchun said slowly with a smile, and then got down to business, "Auntie, do you still need radishes at your residence? Our radishes are delicious."
"Radishes?" Aunt He was taken aback for a moment, then quickly said, "What a coincidence! My husband has been craving radishes lately. Are your radishes sweet?"
As she spoke, she looked toward the carriage behind Du Wanchun.
Zhou Ruiyuan poked half his head out of the carriage and handed her a peeled radish.
Aunt He was stunned when she saw Zhou Ruiyuan, and remained in a daze for a long time.
