Chapter 228 My husband went to take the imperial examination
Wu Niangzi's husband remained unconscious for several days.
These days, the three of them have been staying at the Zhou family's house.
To avoid troubling Du Wanchun and Aunt Zhou, Madam Wu took care of the children herself.
Du Wanchun was busy with the rice shop and often had to go there. Today, she had just arrived in Cheng'an County when she heard that Magistrate Li was taking his family to Qingzhou Prefecture, as a new magistrate was coming.
She got the news and went home to tell Aunt Zhou.
After pondering for a moment, Aunt Zhou smiled and said, "Wanchun, don't worry, since it was someone arranged by Prefect Zheng, there won't be any problems."
Du Wanchun nodded slightly, "Okay, that's good then."
Aunt Zhou looked toward Zhou Ruiyuan's room and said, "Why are you and Ruiyuan back so early? I thought you would come back after the imperial examination."
The imperial examination is next month. Du Wanchun and Zhou Ruiyuan originally wanted to wait until after the examination to return, but the Wu family was too competitive and they found it an eyesore, so they returned to Changliu Village ahead of schedule.
Zhou Ruiyuan planned to go to the capital alone in ten to fifteen days.
This time, Du Wanchun refused to go with them, as Xiao Mianmian, Yi'er, and Yu'er wouldn't let her leave.
“Mother, some things happened in the capital those days, which is why I came back early.” Du Wanchun told Aunt Zhou about Miss Wu.
Aunt Zhou was furious and slammed her hand on the table. "You still want to marry into our Zhou family? You're dreaming!"
After she finished speaking, she held Du Wanchun's hand and said, "Wanchun, don't worry, you are the daughter-in-law recognized by our Zhou family, and no one can divorce you."
Du Wanchun nodded slightly and smiled, "Yes, Mother."
Aunt Zhou even went to Zhou Ruiyuan specifically to talk about this matter and gave him a stern warning.
Zhou Ruiyuan was completely bewildered. After learning that it was about Miss Wu, he smiled and saw Aunt Zhou out.
The days gradually calmed down.
The three babies in the family are growing bigger and bigger. They used to only cry, but now they can sit up with some effort.
Half a month passed quickly, and Zhou Ruiyuan had to rush to the capital to participate in the imperial examination.
Du Wanchun escorted Zhou Ruiyuan to the village entrance.
Zhou Ruiyuan rode his horse to the capital alone.
Du Wanchun watched his departing figure, her face full of reluctance.
As she turned to go back, Zhou Ruiyuan's voice suddenly came from behind her, "Wanchun! Wanchun!"
Du Wanchun looked back and saw Zhou Ruiyuan riding back on horseback.
"Husband, why are you back again?" Du Wanchun asked him with a smile.
Zhou Ruiyuan leaped off his horse and then hugged her tightly in his arms. "Wanchun, I'll be back as soon as the test is over."
His voice was deep and gentle, filled with reluctance.
Du Wanchun hugged him back, "Yes, husband, please remember to take good care of yourself."
Zhou Ruiyuan gently kissed her forehead. "You too."
After the two embraced, Zhou Ruiyuan finally rode away on his horse.
This time, Du Wanchun waited until he was far away before returning.
I had just returned home when I heard that Madam Wu's husband had woken up.
Du Wanchun walked happily into the house, "Sister Wu, how is it?"
Madam Wu stayed by her husband's side, her face streaked with tears. "He's awake, but he doesn't remember anything."
"Don't you remember?" Du Wanchun walked inside, puzzled.
While wiping away her tears, Madam Wu replied, "That's right, he doesn't even know his own name."
Du Wanchun came to Wu Niangzi's side.
Her husband sat up, looking around the room in confusion. "Who are you all? Why am I here?"
Madam Wu quickly replied, "Husband, it's me, your wife."
The man's gaze softened considerably when he looked at Madam Wu. "Are you really my wife?"
Madam Wu handed him the child in her arms, saying, "Look, this is our child."
Du Wanchun looked at Qing'er in her hand, and to be fair, Qing'er and this man looked seven or eight parts alike.
She had been wondering who Qing'er resembled to be so beautiful, but it turned out she resembled her father.
Upon seeing the child, the man trembled slightly. He carefully took the child and asked, "Is this our child?"
Madam Wu nodded and said, "Yes, it's your child. Look how much his eyebrows and eyes resemble yours."
The man looked down at the child in his arms, his eyes even turning a little red.
He asked Madam Wu, "Do you know my name?"
