Chapter 30 Almost Kissed Each Other

Chapter 30 Almost Kissed Each Other

Upon hearing the call, Du Wanchun turned around and looked behind her.

The night is beautiful tonight. The silvery moonlight, like a thin mist, gently sprinkles on Zhou Ruiyuan, making his skin appear as white and clear as jade.

"Husband, you're still awake." Du Wanchun slowly stood up and walked to his side.

Zhou Ruiyuan draped his long robe over her shoulders and said softly, "It's chilly at night, be careful not to catch a cold."

His outer garment was a simple gray cotton and linen shirt, with a faint fragrance, and it felt soft and supple in his hands.

Du Wanchun pulled her clothes up over her shoulders and, seeing the book on his lap, quickly asked, "Husband, will you continue reading outside tonight?"

Zhou Ruiyuan gripped the book in his hand, looked up at the stars outside, and nodded. "Okay, you rest first, I'll go in later."

Du Wanchun didn't leave. She smiled and sat down beside him, resting her chin on her hands. Together they looked up at the stars in the sky and she said with a smile, "I'll keep my husband company while we read."

Zhou Ruiyuan turned his head to look at her, and seeing that clear, smiling profile, his gaze softened even more than before. He asked, "Can you read?"

Du Wanchun nodded, "My mother taught me when I was little, but I haven't written it in a long time, so I don't remember it very well."

Zhou Ruiyuan turned around, took a pen from the table next to him, and poured a glass of water. "Let me teach you."

Du Wanchun looked up at him, revealing two small dimples as she smiled and said, "Really?"

Zhou Ruiyuan pushed his chair slowly to the table in the courtyard, placed the pen and water on the table, and said, "Come here."

Du Wanchun quickly got up and sat down on the stone bench next to him. "Thank you, sir."

Zhou Ruiyuan dipped a brush in water and slowly wrote the three characters "Du Wanchun" on the stone table.

Since moving to Changliu Village, his family has been unable to afford paper and ink, so they can only use this broken pen tip dipped in water to practice calligraphy on stones.

The stone was grayish-black, and the words written with water shimmered faintly under the moonlight.

Du Wanchun found it amazing and quickly took the pen from Zhou Ruiyuan, writing her name stroke by stroke.

Perhaps it's been a long time since I've written anything, so my handwriting is crooked and looks ugly.

She picked up the pen dejectedly and sighed, "My handwriting is so ugly."

"No rush, take your time." Zhou Ruiyuan came up behind her and gently took her hand that was holding the pen.

His hands were large and warm, holding the pen and enveloping Du Wanchun's small hand.

Du Wanchun stared blankly at his hand, feeling a warmth on the back of his hand, her fingertips intentionally or unintentionally touching the softness of his fingertips.

"Follow my hand, write stroke by stroke," Zhou Ruiyuan said in her ear, his warm breath gently brushing against her ear, tickling her and giving her a tingling sensation all over her body.

Du Wanchun was momentarily lost in thought, letting him hold her hand and write on the stone table. By the time she came to her senses, the writing was already finished.

Zhou Ruiyuan looked at her and asked softly, "Can you write it now?"

Du Wanchun quickly snapped out of her daze and nodded, saying, "I can write it now."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Ruiyuan prepared to withdraw his hand.

Du Wanchun then asked, "Husband, can you teach me to write your name?"

"My name?" Zhou Ruiyuan asked.

Du Wanchun nodded. "Yes, that's your name."

“Okay, I’ll teach you.” Zhou Ruiyuan bent down and took her hand again, writing the character “Zhou” stroke by stroke.

Zhou Ruiyuan's calligraphy is very beautiful, upright and elegant, and his brushstrokes are clearly superior to those of the average scholar.

Du Wanchun studied very diligently, engraving every stroke in her heart.

As she wrote the last character, Du Wanchun couldn't help but turn her head to look at Zhou Ruiyuan beside her.

They were so close that Du Wanchun could even count the long eyelashes.

"Have you learned it?" Zhou Ruiyuan held her hand and turned to look at her.

Their eyes met, noses touching, so close that it seemed as if their lips would touch if they took just one more step.
