Chapter 341 Resurrection from the Dead

Chapter 341 Resurrection from the Dead

Upon seeing the familiar courtyard, the man in black was startled. Perhaps out of a guilty conscience, he thought of all that had happened that day and assumed that the woman had come to claim his life.

He was shocked and immediately tried to run out of the courtyard.

Just as he was about to step out of the courtyard gate, the group of stray cats surrounded him, blocking him in the yard. They then pounced on him, scratching and biting him. Before long, the man in black collapsed to the ground, covered in wounds.

He lay on the threshold of the house, tilted his head back, and suddenly saw a woman with long, black hair hanging down.

The woman's face was a bloody mess, but it was still recognizable as the woman he had personally murdered.

The man in black was terrified and screamed, "A ghost! A ghost!"

By this time, the fire in the mansion had already started, and no one noticed his shouts.

He could only endure the pain, get up and run towards the courtyard gate, but the gate seemed to be blocked by something. Even though he could see that the gate was not closed, he could not get out no matter what he did.

He could only keep banging his head against the door.

They were discovered by General An's men after daybreak.

Upon seeing Prince Rong, the man in black, who had been looking utterly dejected, immediately perked up. He knelt on the ground and crawled to his side, stammering, "Your Highness, I saw Miss Qiu last night. She's not dead, she's still alive."

As he spoke, fear flashed in his eyes, and he continued, "No, she's dead. That's her ghost, Your Highness. Miss Qiu's ghost has come to find me. You must save me! I only killed her because you ordered me to."

Although the man in black spoke in a somewhat ambiguous manner, General An still gleaned some information from it. He said coldly, "Prince Rong, it seems this man is one of your trusted confidants."

Prince Rong's mind raced. "Yes, but more than ten years ago, he was out on business when he accidentally encountered an evil spirit, which is why he speaks somewhat incoherently."

General An frowned as he stared at the man in black, and snorted coldly, "I don't think it's that simple."

He raised his voice, his expression turning fierce as he glared at the man in black: "Speak! What Miss Qiu? What ghost?! What exactly did your master order you to do?!"

This one sentence made Prince Rong's heart jump into his throat. He couldn't understand what was going on. The person was fine yesterday, so why is he acting so strangely now?

He was now terrified that his trusted confidant would reveal the arson.

Prince Rong's hands trembled slightly as he glanced at the old king beside him, then at General An beside him, before gripping a hidden weapon tightly in his hand.

He was just waiting for the man in black in front of him to speak before he was killed.

Upon hearing General An's question, the man in black stared wide-eyed at everyone present, his eyes seemingly devoid of their souls, and fell silent for a moment.

His lips trembled, and his eyes were dark circles, as if he were still recalling the terrifying scene from last night.

Just as everyone held their breath, waiting for him to speak, a woman's voice suddenly came from not far away.

"Your Majesty, Father, what brings you here?"

Everyone was startled by the sound and quickly looked toward its source, where they saw Princess Rong walking slowly toward them with her daughter, Xiang'er.

"Daughter, you're still alive?" General An exclaimed in surprise, rushing forward excitedly.

Prince Rong stood there stunned, looking at the unharmed Princess Rong, his heart filled with astonishment.

"How is she still alive? Wasn't she dead?"

He kept asking himself this question, and a look of disappointment gradually appeared on his face.

Du Wanchun stood behind Princess Rong, looking at everything in front of her, her eyebrows slightly raised.

General An, holding his daughter and granddaughter, looked them over from left to right. "What exactly happened? I heard from them that you and Xiang'er perished in the fire?"

Princess Rong wiped her tears with a handkerchief. "Father, I'm alright. We were almost burned to death in the fire last night, but luckily Manager Du was at our residence and saved our lives."

As he spoke, he pointed to Du Wanchun behind him.

Du Wanchun greeted them one by one.

The old king also scrutinized her carefully. "You are Manager Du from Xuan Yue Kingdom?"

Du Wanchun bowed and replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."

The old king stroked his beard and said meaningfully, "She is indeed different from ordinary women..."

General An also thanked Du Wanchun, saying, "Thank you, Manager Du, for saving my daughter and granddaughter. Please accept my bow."

Du Wanchun helped him up. "General An, you're too kind. It was just a small favor."

Last night, Du Wanchun stayed here. In the middle of the night, he heard strange noises. He got up and went to the roof to investigate. It turned out that someone was setting a fire.

She decided to use this as a pretext to wait until the fire started before rushing in to rescue people.

This morning, she deliberately waited until Prince Rong finished his performance before bringing the mother and daughter out.
