Chapter 669 A Little Trick
Upon hearing this, Mianmian quickly snapped out of her daze, rolled off the bed, strode to the door, and, while getting dressed, opened the door and walked outside. "Granny, what's wrong?"
The guest rooms are located next to the courtyard.
The old woman pointed to the old hen in the yard and said, "I've raised this hen for five or six years. At most, it lays one egg a day or two. Look, it laid three eggs last night."
Following the direction she pointed, Mianmian found three eggs in the chicken coop.
She breathed a slight sigh of relief; thankfully, there were only three eggs, otherwise, it would have been difficult to say what would have happened if there had been more.
Mianmian smiled and said, "This is a good thing, Granny. You won't have to worry about eggs anymore."
The old woman didn't seem to care about any of this. After recovering from her surprise, she picked up three eggs and said, "Perfect timing, I can make breakfast for you two."
Mianmian advised, "Granny, we can just eat some steamed buns, there's no need to boil eggs."
The old woman shook her head. "That won't do. You are our guests. No matter how poor we are, we can't neglect you."
Mianmian wanted to persuade her again, but the old nanny bent over and turned to go to the kitchen.
Mianmian stood in the courtyard, looking up at the dilapidated house. Her eyes lit up, and she smiled at Qing'er, who was coming out of the house, and said, "Brother Qing'er, why don't we write a letter to our parents and stay here for a few more days?"
Qing'er was overjoyed. If he returned to the capital, he wouldn't be able to spend every day with Mianmian like this. "Alright, I'll write a letter to Aunt Wanchun right now."
Qing'er's letter was delivered to Du Wanchun three days later.
Du Wanchun held the book in her hand and looked at it, "These two kids are probably being playful again."
Zhou Ruiyuan walked over and said, "They're not just being playful; they just feel more comfortable outside."
As a father, Zhou Ruiyuan grew increasingly displeased with Xiao Qing'er, who was thinking about his daughter.
Du Wanchun noticed his displeasure and asked in a low voice, "Are you afraid that our daughter will go to the Northern Barbarians?"
Zhou Ruiyuan nodded, his thoughts guessed. "Mianmian has grown up in our arms since she was little. Of course, I can't bear to marry her off so far away. That's why Madam Wu always wanted to arrange a marriage between our children. We kept declining and didn't agree."
Du Wanchun smiled. "Didn't Xiao Qing'er say he was willing to stay for Mianmian?"
Zhou Ruiyuan said seriously, "Would Wei Xun and Madam Wu agree to that? Xiao Qing'er is their crown prince now."
Du Wanchun thought for a moment, walked to the window, looked at the flowers and plants outside, and said back, "What's so difficult about that? Just don't become the crown prince."
Xiao Qing'er has never liked being the crown prince. The reason he works so hard is firstly for his mother, and secondly so that one day he can be a match for Mianmian.
Du Wanchun continued, "Doesn't Qing'er have a younger brother? I think he should have already decided to give this position to his brother."
Zhou Ruiyuan fell into deep thought after hearing this.
Du Wanchun was right. Before coming to Xuan Yue Kingdom, Xiao Qing'er had already asked her father and mother to give up the position of crown prince, but Wei Xun and Lady Wu did not agree.
Qing'er was their eldest son and had gone through a lot of hardship with them, so they liked him more.
However, they were afraid that Qing'er would blame them, so they agreed to let him come to Xuan Yue Kingdom to see if there was a chance to bring Mianmian back.
In fact, their youngest son is also very outstanding and has a deep relationship with his older brother. He is also more ambitious.
Du Wanchun slowly walked into the room, an idea beginning to form in her mind.
That night, in the Northern Di Kingdom, Madam Wu hadn't slept for several days because of Qing'er's situation. "I wonder how he is over there? I'm afraid Wan Chun won't agree to let Mianmian come to the Northern Di Kingdom."
Wei Xun's face darkened. "Let's wait a little longer. If Ruiyuan and the others are unwilling, we can find another Crown Princess for Xiao Qing'er."
Madam Wu looked up and said, "That won't do. I like Mianmian, and your son likes Mianmian too."
Wei Xun quickly reassured her, "I was just worried that Ruiyuan and the others wouldn't agree."
Madam Wu said seriously, "Wanchun and the others have always liked Xiaoqing'er, so why don't you let Yun'er be the crown prince?"
Wei Xun shook his head. "No, Qing'er is the most suitable candidate. I'll think of another way."
Madam Wu sighed deeply and said nothing more.
Wei Xun strode out of her room.
That night, the two of them suffered from insomnia again.
But very strangely, in their hazy state, they suddenly had a dream.
I dreamt that Xiao Qing'er died tragically on the dragon throne.
This terrified the two of them.
The two sat up simultaneously, both sweating profusely. "Ah Xun, we should..."
Before Madam Wu could finish speaking, Wei Xun immediately said, "I'll go find someone to do a fortune telling tomorrow."
The next day, the two went to the temple early in the morning and found a master to interpret their dream.
The master calculated and said, "Your Majesty, this dream is a very bad omen."
Wei Xun immediately became anxious, "What do you mean by 'extreme misfortune'? Why would something so perfectly fine suddenly become extremely unlucky?!"
The master stroked his beard and said slowly, "Let me explain."
Madam Wu quickly pulled Wei Xun aside, urging him to listen quietly to what the master had to say.
