Chapter 92 Moment of Crisis

Meng Qi was rapidly thinking about what to do. While she was thinking, she saw someone walking out of the main courtyard. Because this person was standing facing her and his attention was on her, he didn't notice what was happening outside. Instead, he stared at her.

Seeing that Meng Qi didn't say anything, he exerted force with his hand and the knife moved down a little more.

It is not known whether this person brought any helpers with him. If he discovered Wang Chenghai and that person, not only would Song Chengze's secret clue be exposed, even the things they had worked so hard to find would fall into his hands. Moreover, the safety of several people would be threatened.

What should I do? Meng Qi thought quickly. From her angle, she could already see the moonlight outside clearly casting the shadows of the two people leaving the main courtyard.

No, they couldn't let this person discover their secret. Meng Qi hardened her heart, pointed to the corner, and when the man looked over, she pushed the shelf next to her down and ran out quickly.

She had no other choice now, and could only think of crawling back to Hanyuan through the hole. The search in Hanyuan these days made her very familiar with the backyard, which might allow her to find a hiding place. When she found an opportunity, she could return to the main house in the front yard, and everything would be fine.

As for Wang Chenghai, she thought, he must have his own way to complete the discussed matters.

The noise inside startled the two people outside. Wang Chenghai wanted to run over here, but the man glanced at the roof first, pulled back his collar, and the two retreated to the corner. Wang Chenghai was about to speak when the man covered his mouth. Wang Chenghai watched as a petite figure emerged from the west wing and quickly ran to the opposite side. A person followed closely behind. A moment later, two people jumped down from the roof and quickly caught up.

Wang Chenghai was so anxious that sweat broke out on his forehead. He pulled down the man's hand that was covering his mouth and gasped, "Quick, quick, that's the princess."

"What?" The man was stunned for a moment, then thought for a moment and said, "You go back, I'll look for it." He was about to leave when he turned back and asked, "Is the thing in that room?"

Wang Chenghai nodded.

"Go get it back. I will go get it tomorrow night. Don't follow me. You will only cause trouble. How did you get here? Go back and be ready to pick them up." After saying that, he turned around and jumped onto the roof.

Meng Qi had originally intended to run towards the east wing, as the hole was behind it. But when she ran out and found someone still on the roof, she panicked and ran in the wrong direction, heading straight for the back door of Lanxin Palace.

As mentioned before, the Lanxin Palace is a courtyard with only one entrance. It has no back rooms but a back door. Meng Qi only came in twice and did not go to the back to see if it was accessible or where it led to.

At this moment, Meng Qi didn't care about so many things. She just wanted to run away. Knowing that those people were very skilled in martial arts, she didn't dare to run to that open place. She pushed open the back door and saw a long alley in front of her. She didn't know which palace's backyard it was. It was overgrown with weeds. As Meng Qi ran, the startled mice squeaked and ran around.

Meng Qi ran with all her might, wanting to look back to see if anyone was following her. But she didn't dare, so she just kept running. She could hear her footsteps echoing in the empty, abandoned palace, her breathing growing heavier, the rustling of grass and rubble beneath her feet.

Suddenly, a large bird let out an eerie "ga" cry from the nearby darkness and flapped its wings to take flight. Meng Qi tilted her head, her feet slipped, and her body sank as if she had fallen into a deep pit. With two gurgling sounds, the moonlight that had been overhead suddenly vanished.

Meng Qi huddled inside, feeling her heart pounding. She couldn't tell if it was sweat or tears on her face. She wiped it off and gently felt around. It was cold, wet bricks. Then she reached back and touched a thick piece of wood.

Meng Qi suddenly had an idea and quickly picked up the wood and pushed it upwards in the direction it had just rolled. He didn't breathe a sigh of relief until it got stuck at the bottom and couldn't be pushed anymore.

She didn't know if she had propped the wood in the right place. She had no strength left and could only rely on luck.
