Chapter 6 Father and Son

Chapter 6 Father and Son

In the wild jungle, mosquitoes were flying, and a tired, old black horse was pulling a wooden cart slowly forward. Its hooves kept stepping on the wet mud, leaving many sunken holes.

The thin, black-haired boy sat on the cart with a dull look on his face.

He was wearing a long light brown coat, his back was against a package made of leather and cloth, and his blue eyes looked a little dull.

The man leading the black horse was a middle-aged man with a mustache. He had a lazy temperament and was wearing armor made of tough black leather. His blue eyes were always full of vigilance towards his surroundings.

The father and son have one thing in common that is hard to ignore, which is that there is an extremely clear and complex red mark on the back of their left hands.

The lazy middle-aged man yawned and squinted his eyes and asked, "Byrne, how much money do we have left? How far is it to Nasir?"

The black-haired boy lowered his head, counted with his fingers for a moment, then raised his head and reported in a series:

"We still have three silver coins, three hundred and fifty-five copper nars, two days' worth of food and water left, and we only have thirteen hours left to reach the town of Nasir."

Byrne's father, Lucius smiled bitterly, shook his head and sighed.

One silver coin is equivalent to twenty copper coins, which means that our total assets are only that much left.

"Do we have to go to Nasir?"

The black-haired boy Byrne's eyes were full of hesitation. After a pause, he continued, "I always feel that we should be more cautious, Father. What if there is some kind of trap waiting for us?"

Lucius was silent for a while, then said, "Byrne, you are very smart and well-educated. You are smarter than me, but you are too timid."

"And you still don't understand. Some destinies cannot be avoided. For the past few days, every time we enter the middle of the night, you and I have heard those indescribable whispers in our dreams, and there has been no sign of stopping."

"Nasir, there is something extremely great calling us in that town. It is clearly a destiny that is in our blood and there is no way to escape it forever."

Byrne lowered his head and said nothing more, nor did he refute his father's opinion. The old mercenary was knowledgeable and more authoritative than himself, and he was not good at arguing with others.

The old horse pulled the cart very slowly, and darkness gradually fell before the two men arrived at the edge of the jungle near Nasir. Ancient trees and green vines were intertwined to form an intricate maze.

As the night deepened, the carriage stopped on a muddy but relatively open piece of land.

Byrne lit a bonfire to illuminate the surroundings in the silent night. The flames jumped, warm and soft, bringing a touch of vitality to the cold valley in autumn.

The trees appeared more clearly visible in the firelight. Lucius suddenly put down his hands that were chewing bread, picked up the sword that was not far away, and quickly stood up to look at the figure not far away.

The figure in the darkness stood there and shouted.

"Don't move. Just hand over all the money you have and we promise not to hurt you."

Lucius squinted his eyes and saw clearly that there were three armed robbers in the darkness. The leading robber was a tall and strong man wearing leather armor.

They surrounded him from three directions and entered the area illuminated by the light. Two robbers were holding axes and one was holding a sickle. They were obviously afraid of the shining sword in Lucius' hand.

The tall and strong man held the axe and said cautiously: "Put down your sword, think carefully before you decide to fight. There are three of us on our side, and as long as you cooperate honestly, nothing will happen."

Byrne was so frightened that he trembled with fear, and huddled in a ball on the spot with an almost pale face, not daring to move at all.

Lucius's expression immediately changed, and he said in fear, "Don't do it, don't kill us, I am willing to hand over all my property."

Although he said so, he still did not put down his sword. The three robbers were also very alert. The two sides confronted each other for a long time and no one dared to advance or retreat.

Under the light of the fire, the tall and strong man was sweating profusely. He suddenly shouted angrily: "Then hurry up and put down the sword in your hand!"

"good."

As soon as he said "OK", Lucius suddenly rushed forward and stabbed the tall and strong man who was the leader of the bandits with his sword.

The tall and strong man was prepared. He roared and kicked forward suddenly.

Lucius's forward figure actually turned directly, dodging the fierce kick and slashing with the sword.

He wanted to kill the bandit leader first to scare off the other two, which was undoubtedly the most effective approach, but also full of gambling elements.

The sharp sword scratched across his shoulder, causing blood to splatter everywhere, but it failed to hit his neck accurately and cause direct death. The tall and strong man howled and subconsciously retreated quickly.

"Hurry up and save me!"

The other two bandits were stunned for a moment, then they also rushed forward with roars. Byrne took the opportunity to run towards the jungle without hesitation.

"hateful."

The surprise attack failed, so Lucius turned around and swung his sword again, glaring at the two of them with a ferocious face.

The sword swung in the air, scaring one of the robbers with the sickle so much that he subconsciously took a half step back. The other robber raised his axe and chopped at him, but the axe missed the target by an inch.

The difference in sense of distance is the difference between life and death.

Lucius rushed forward suddenly, knocking him backward to the ground, and then stabbed the robber through the heart with his sword.

“Aaaaaaah!”

The other robber with the sickle was so frightened that he trembled. The tall and strong man suddenly shouted fiercely: "Come with me, both front and back!"

"Two people together" seemed to give the robber with the sickle a backbone. The two of them roared and attacked Lucius from the front and back.

"die!"

Lucius roared to scare away the robber with the sickle again, but he found that the other party closed his eyes and shouted while swinging the sickle at him, so he had to dodge to the side flexibly.

The sturdy man swung his axe at him fiercely. Lucius hastily raised his sword to block it, but was forced to kneel on one knee by a force almost as strong as a bear. His palms were in pain and he gritted his teeth.

So heavy and powerful. Does this guy have subhuman or alien blood in his body?

Lucius finally rolled over to relieve the force and quickly got up, but the two robbers attacked him from the front and back, intending to use the same trick again. He could only turn around and run towards the pitch-black jungle.

"Chase!"

The two robbers were also aroused and had no intention of letting him go.

Byrne hid trembling behind a tree not far away, walked over with a pale face, bent down and picked up a torch from the campfire.

Another scream and wail sounded. He raised his head, gritted his teeth and quickly followed. Soon he saw the robber with the sickle lying on the ground with his stomach ripped open.

Not far away, a huge and sturdy bandit was pressing my father to the ground fiercely, using the blade of his axe against his sword to put pressure on my father who was struggling extremely hard. The power disparity between the two sides was too great.

Byrne ran over and burned the torch hard on the strong man's face!

“Aaaaaaah!”

The massive beard on his face instantly burned and his skin burst open in an instant. The sturdy man wailed wildly but refused to get up, as if he was determined to crush Lucius to death under him no matter what.

"ha!"

The burning pain still caused the strength of the sturdy man's hands to weaken, and Lucius suddenly pushed him away with a loud roar.

“Aaaaaaaaah!”

The sturdy man wailed as he climbed to his feet, holding the axe high, but his entire face was cut in two by the sharp sword. Then another sword pierced his heart, and blood spurted out. His tall body gradually stopped and knelt, and finally became completely motionless.

“Huff, huff, huff…”

Lucius sat on the ground panting, exhausted.

He stared at his son who was covering his mouth and almost vomiting, and couldn't help but smile as if he had escaped death.

"You, aren't you afraid of blood?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the thin Byrne fell down straight like a log.

“…”

Lucius had long been accustomed to his son's congenital defects. After resting enough, he stripped all the valuables from the three bodies and placed them all on the carriage.

A total of twenty-five copper nars, three low-quality weapons, and a bag of cooked beans.

"Tsk, they are all disgusting poor bastards!"

With a frown on his face, he buried the three bodies overnight, cleaned up all traces of the father and son, and drove away in the carriage carrying Byrne on his back.

Lucius knew in his heart that many farmers and fishermen would play bandits, and he must not expose the fact that he had killed three people in Nasir Town. The place where the bandits were active was very close to Nasir Town, and it was very likely that they had relatives and friends in the town.

"It's still five kilometers to Nasir."

He suddenly felt a real burning sensation from the red mark on the back of his hand.

The young man Byrne on Lucius' back frowned and broke out in a cold sweat, as if he had dreamed of something extremely terrifying.

He heard some horrible whispers, almost without human emotions, conveying a language that did not belong to the mortal world, reconstructing some extremely great will that could not be ignored.

Nasir Town.

There was something so great in that seaside town that kept calling to the Byrs.
