Chapter 3 Kick the door

After they finished fighting, Hongfei and Hongyu looked down at the little kids lying all over the ground, exchanged a triumphant glance, and gave each other a high five. Then they saw Xing Zhaozhao getting off the tractor with a small blanket in her arms. Their eyes lit up and they ran over to her, saying, "Mom, you're back! Where's my little sister? Let us see her!"

Xing Zhaozhao smiled and bent down, carefully lifting a corner of the small blanket to let them take a look.

Little Hongling was sleeping, and both little ones kept their voices down, afraid of waking their younger sister.

"My little sister is so tiny."

"My little sister is so pretty, she looks just like me."

"Mommy, can I touch my little sister?"

Xing Zhaozhao refused: "We just had a fight, and we're all dirty. You're not allowed to touch my sister. We'll talk about it when we get home and I've washed my hands."

When Xing Zhaozhao mentioned fighting, the two little ones became a little uneasy: "Mom, I'm sorry, we fought again." Their mother has never liked them fighting.

To the two little ones' surprise, their mother didn't scold them directly.

"Tell Mom why you fought this time?" Xing Zhaozhao asked them earnestly.

Both little ones were sulking.

“They said Dad is a traitor, and that we are the sons of a traitor,” Hongfei said with a sullen face.

Xing Zhaozhao's face darkened as she listened.

Children don't understand these things. They probably just overheard adults gossiping in private and have picked up the habit without even knowing what kind of gossip is acceptable and what kind is not.

Hongyu clenched his fists, his little face full of anger: "Dad is not a traitor, and we are not the sons of traitors. I didn't allow them to say it, but they still did, so I had no choice but to beat them up. I did nothing wrong, and I will not apologize this time."

Xing Zhaozhao smiled and patted Hongyu's little head: "Yes, our little feather did the right thing this time. It didn't do anything wrong, so there's no need to apologize."

Hongyu's face flushed red as he looked at Xing Zhaozhao, extremely excited: "Really? Mom?"

Xing Zhaozhao nodded with a smile: "Of course, Mom always keeps her word."

"That's great!" Hongyu jumped up with joy.

Hongfei was slightly calmer, but his face was still flushed with excitement.

Xing Zhaozhao looked at her two sons and felt a pang of sorrow in her heart.

A similar incident happened in her past life; she forced the two children's heads down to apologize.

After apologizing, the two children seemed to have lost their backbone, and their whole demeanor became listless.

Tears welled up in Xing Zhaozhao's eyes. She gently patted the two children's heads and whispered, "I'm sorry."

The two children looked up at her simultaneously: "Mom, what did you say?"

Xing Zhaozhao gently shook her head and took the two children's hands: "Come on, let's go home."

The two children looked at each other, but hesitated.

"What's wrong?" Xing Zhaozhao asked, puzzled.

“Mom, Grandpa and Grandma kicked us out of our house. We’ve been staying at Grandma Hao’s house for the past few days. We don’t have a home here anymore,” Hongfei said, his eyes red as he looked at Xing Zhaozhao.

Two shameless old bastards.

Xing Zhaozhao cursed inwardly, but didn't show it on her face at all. She smiled nonchalantly and said, "It's okay, then we'll just move to another place."

Both little ones had smiles on their faces.

"Really? Where should we change to?"

"Can I stay at Grandma Hao's house? I like Grandma Hao's house."

"That probably won't work. Grandma Hao's house can't accommodate so many of us."

The mother and her two children chatted and laughed as they walked into the village.

Looking at the children lying all over the ground, Aunt Hao couldn't help but worry: "So many children are injured, their family probably won't let this go."

The smiles on the two little ones' faces froze, and they looked at Xing Zhaozhao uneasily.

Xing Zhaozhao didn't take it seriously: "It's alright, I'll just let them come find me when the time comes."

The Gao family.

Everyone else has gone to work, so only Grandma Gao and her children are at home right now.

It was almost lunchtime, and the rich aroma of meat wafted out of the kitchen. The children couldn't resist crowding at the kitchen door, watching Grandma Gao busy inside, their mouths watering.

Old Mrs. Gao turned her head and glared at them, then scolded them irritably, "You're all debt collectors, I must have owed you something in my past life."

Despite her scolding, she still beckoned the children inside.

The eldest son's two beloved grandsons, Jiabao and Jiabei, each received a piece.

The eldest daughter's granddaughter, Meimei, looks most like her; they share a common trait.

The youngest child in the third family, Gui'er, is not even two years old yet. He doesn't have all his teeth, so he can't eat a whole piece. Just let him taste it and smack his lips.

As for the three younger sisters of the third son's family, they are all worthless and unworthy of the title.

What? You're saying she's biased? Human hearts are inherently biased, so why can't she be biased?

"Bang, bang."

Suddenly someone knocked on the door.

Grandma Gao quickly scooped all the braised pork out of the pot and hid it well.

I don't know which idiot smelled the aroma and came over during mealtime, trying to take advantage of Liu Cuihua. No way!

"Meimei, go see who's coming outside. Be careful, if they're trying to freeload, don't let them in," Grandma Gao instructed Gao Meimei.

These days, nobody's rich.

If it weren't for the fact that the second son's wife—no, the traitor's wife—went to the hospital to give birth a few days ago and wasn't there, and that she took the opportunity to break into her room, steal her money, tickets, and all sorts of rare items, I wouldn't have dared to eat such a large amount of meat for several days in a row.

"Hey." Gao Meimei savored the delicious taste of the braised pork in her mouth, obediently responded, and quickly ran out.

Grandma Gao scooped a spoonful of water into the pot, preparing to wash it.

"Milk."

Suddenly, Gao Meimei's terrified scream came from outside.

Startled, Old Lady Gao rushed out, asking, "What's wrong? What's wrong?"

Gao Meimei ran up to her, her little face full of panic, pointed to the tightly closed door, and said, "It's bad, Grandma, Second Aunt, no, the traitor's wife is back."

Old Mrs. Gao's eyebrows shot up: "What? She actually dares to come back?"

As she spoke, Old Lady Gao angrily headed towards the front door, but after taking only two steps, she suddenly stopped. Realizing something was amiss, she turned back to the kitchen, grabbed a fire poker, and headed towards the front door again.

Without opening the door, Old Lady Gao stood behind it, facing outside, and snapped impatiently, "What?"

"Mom, I'm back. Open the door." Xing Zhaozhao said kindly from outside the door.

“Get out! I’m not your mother. I’m not the son of a traitor, so naturally I don’t have a daughter-in-law like you,” Old Lady Gao said.

Xing Zhaozhao couldn't be happier.

"Oh, is that so? Then can I go in and get my things? After all, we're not related now, and it's inconvenient for me to leave my things at your place," Xing Zhaozhao said.

Old Mrs. Gao would never allow it. Not to mention her own things, everything she could take had been divided up by her and her two other daughters-in-law. Even if there wasn't anything left, she absolutely wouldn't allow it; she took all the good things.

“Take what? What’s in my house is mine. You can’t take it away.” Old Mrs. Gao said.

Xing Zhaozhao raised an eyebrow slightly: "So you don't want to pay it back?"

"It was originally mine, why should I return it?" Old Lady Gao insisted on her twisted logic.

Xing Zhaozhao chuckled, "You'd better open the door now, or I might..."

Before Xing Zhaozhao could finish speaking, Old Lady Gao snorted disdainfully and interrupted, "So what? Call for help? Go ahead and call. Even if you call the Heavenly King himself, my things are mine, and you can't take them away."

“…They kicked the door down,” Xing Zhaozhao continued.

Grandma Gao was stunned: "...What did you say?"

Xing Zhaozhao didn't speak; the only response was a loud bang: "Bang..."
