Chapter 195 You're Not Human

Qin Shi looked bewildered, touched his head, felt the pain, and then realized that he had accidentally bumped himself. But as long as he wasn't dead, that was fine.

"It's nothing. I wasn't paying attention while driving and almost ran a red light and caused an accident," Qin Shi said casually, walking straight into the store. "She's still here, isn't she?"

Fu Hong shook her head: "Not yet."

"Why are you in such a hurry to find her?" Fu Hong didn't understand, especially since they had almost been in a car accident.

Qin Shi pursed his lips, remaining silent as he entered the shop. Seeing Xing Zhaozhao still there, his eyes lit up, and he immediately rushed over: "Miss Xing..."

When Xing Zhaozhao saw Qin Shi, she instinctively called out, "Little..."

However, sensing something was amiss, he quickly changed his address: "Mr. Qin."

Seeing the injury on Qin Shi's forehead, Xing Zhaozhao frowned and asked, "Mr. Qin, what happened to your head?"

Qin Shi shook his head: "It's nothing, I just bumped into something."

“Miss Xing…” Qin Shi looked at Xing Zhaozhao, about to say something, when his peripheral vision inadvertently swept over the spice list that Xing Zhaozhao had placed on the table beside her and hadn’t had time to put away yet. His pupils shrank, as if afraid that someone would snatch it away, he grabbed it and examined it carefully without looking at it. “This is…” No doubt about it, it was his grandfather’s handwriting.

Qin Shi looked at Xing Zhaozhao with eager eyes: "Is this yours, Miss Xing?"

Xing Zhaozhao nodded, looking at Qin Shi with some confusion.

"Who wrote these words?" Qin Shi asked.

Xing Zhaozhao's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately sensed something was wrong. She reached out to take the list back: "It belongs to a friend of mine."

Qin Shi pressed the list to his chest, refusing to let go, and looked at Xing Zhaozhao with piercing eyes: "Can I talk to you alone?"

Xing Zhaozhao stared at Qin Shi for a while, and seeing his resolute expression, she had no choice but to nod in agreement: "Alright."

Qin Shi borrowed an office from Fu Hong.

Gao Mingcheng and his son Gao Hongfei, both unusually assertive, followed him inside.

Qin Shi glanced at them, hesitated for a moment, and surprisingly did not object.

Seeing this, Fu Hong also wanted to go in, but Qin Shi stopped her.

"I'm sorry, Sister Hong," Qin Shi said apologetically to Fu Hong, and then closed the door.

Fu Hong: "..."

Mr. Lu and Zhou Huaixi watched from the side, exchanging bewildered glances. They sensed that something extraordinary had happened, but they didn't know what it was.

In the office, Qin Shi held up the list in his hand and looked at Xing Zhaozhao carefully: "This is my grandfather's handwriting."

Xing Zhaozhao opened her mouth, wanting to deny it.

Before she could speak, Qin Shi said with unusual firmness, "You don't need to deny it. I'm very sure I haven't made a mistake."

"Where did you get it?" Qin Shi then asked.

Xing Zhaozhao pursed her lips, unsure how to answer.

"You're not even human, are you?" Qin Shi suddenly uttered a shocking statement.

Xing Zhaozhao stared at Qin Shi, her face filled with shock. "Do you even know what nonsense you're spouting, child?"

Gao Hongfei's face also darkened. He stepped forward and said irritably, "Who are you calling inhuman? Show some respect when you speak."

Qin Shi looked at Gao Hongfei: "Is she your mother?"

"Nonsense," Gao Hongfei said coldly.

“Your mother has been dead for a long time. How could she still be standing here alive? She couldn’t possibly be human. Where did I go wrong?” Qin Shi asked.

Gao Hongfei opened his mouth, but was speechless for a moment. According to Qin Shi's logic, it was indeed correct. It wasn't that he couldn't refute it, but he simply couldn't.

Gao Hongfei turned to Xing Zhaozhao and asked, "What can be said and what cannot be said still depends on your mother's opinion."

Xing Zhaozhao walked up to Qin Shi and slapped him twice on the arm: "If I weren't human, would I hit you like that? Are you stupid?"

Qin Shi rubbed his arm. Indeed, it hurt quite a bit.

"Although I don't know what methods you used, I still firmly believe that my idea is correct," Qin Shi said, looking stubbornly at Xing Zhaozhao.

Xing Zhaozhao: "..." This child is hopeless.

"Why?" Xing Zhaozhao didn't understand.

Qin Shi looked at Gao Mingcheng and Gao Hongfei and said, "Because of them."

Xing Zhaozhao turned to look at the father and son behind her.

Gao Mingcheng and his son Gao Hongfei also looked completely bewildered.

Qin Shi smiled and said, "I don't believe that the famous Iron-Blooded General and Chairman Gao, who has been in business for a long time and created the huge Zhaohong Group, would be so close to a woman just because she looks like their wife and mother, especially General Gao."

Gao Hongfei pouted, unconvinced. Why only mention his father? He was the same. However, remembering his own past experience, he obediently kept quiet and didn't raise any objections.

"Although my idea may sound ridiculous or fantastical to others, the world is so big that some mysterious things are not entirely impossible. Don't you think so, Miss Xing?" Qin Shi looked at Xing Zhaozhao and said with a smile, "Given our actual ages, perhaps I can shamelessly call you Sister Xing."

Xing Zhaozhao's heart tightened. It wasn't exactly shameless; Xiao Qinshi had indeed always called her "Sister Xing." But this child was already thinking about such mysterious and far-fetched things—why couldn't he think of something better for her? Why did he have to think of her as not being human?

Xing Zhaozhao sighed helplessly, looked at Qin Shi, and asked, "So, what do you want?"

Qin Shi asked eagerly, "Could you please send a letter to my grandparents, Sister Xing? I want to know how they are doing down here."

"Down below?" Xing Zhaozhao's lips twitched slightly as she listened, and she deliberately joked, "It's been so long, aren't you afraid they've already been reincarnated?"

Qin Shi frowned upon hearing this, and after thinking for a moment, said, "That is indeed possible. However, Sister Xing is still here, isn't she? They probably won't be here so soon."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..."

Xing Zhaozhao really didn't know what to say: "Okay, I'll take it for you."

Qin Shi was overjoyed: "Thank you, Sister Xing."

After saying that, he went to sit down at Fu Hong's desk next to him, took out paper and pen, and started writing on the spot. While writing, he couldn't help but look up and ask Xing Zhaozhao, "By the way, Sister Xing, could you help me send them some more money?"

Without a second thought, Xing Zhaozhao said, "No, we can't use the money here."

Qin Shi had an expression that said, "I knew it would be like this": "Then what kind of money do you use where you live? Paper money?"

Xing Zhaozhao: "..." I feel like I can't explain it anymore.

Xing Zhaozhao decided to throw caution to the wind: "Give me the money, and I'll exchange it for them when I get back."

"So Sister Xing also deals in currency exchange? What's the exchange rate?" Qin Shi asked.

"What is the exchange rate?" Xing Zhaozhao asked.

"It's about how much money one yuan can get," Qin Shi explained.

Xing Zhaozhao did the math: "Six yuan, I guess."

"You're 6, I'm 6?" Qin Shi asked.

"You're a 6," Xing Zhaozhao glared at him. According to the prices where they lived, she was a 6; she'd be losing money hand over fist.

"It's about the same as the US dollar. I heard that inflation is really bad where you are?" Qin Shi asked curiously.

Xing Zhaozhao didn't understand what inflation was, but it didn't sound like a good thing: "Don't listen to their nonsense, it's not true."

Qin Shi responded with an "Oh," and seeing that Xing Zhaozhao's expression was not very good, he wisely didn't say anything more. He quickly finished writing the letter, handed it to Xing Zhaozhao, and prepared to transfer money to Xing Zhaozhao's bank card.

Xing Zhaozhao watched as his finger kept pressing 0, and her temples twitched involuntarily: "You can only change it once a month, and you can only change 1,000 yuan each time."

"1000 yuan is too little, isn't it?" Qin Shi said disappointedly.

Xing Zhaozhao said coldly, "I'll only exchange 1,000. If you don't want to exchange, then forget it."

"Change it." Afraid that she would change her mind, Qin Shi agreed without thinking and immediately transferred 1,000 yuan to her.

Feeling utterly exhausted after today's trip, Xing Zhaozhao turned to Gao Mingcheng and Gao Hongfei and said weakly, "I'm going back."

Gao Hongfei looked disappointed: "Aren't you staying a little longer?"

"I'm tired," Xing Zhaozhao said.

Gao Hongfei couldn't help but glare at Qin Shi. It's all your fault.

Qin Shi looked completely innocent. What did it have to do with him?

Gao Hongfei didn't want to talk to him anymore, and turned to Xing Zhaozhao: "I'll have the driver take you."

This time, Xing Zhaozhao did not refuse.

"Why do we need a driver? Can't we just open the door?" Qin Shi asked curiously.

Xing Zhaozhao was startled and turned to look at him abruptly: "How did you know there was a way?"

"Isn't that how it's written in novels online? The gates of hell open..." Qin Shi said.

Xing Zhaozhao: "...Get out."

Qin Shi: "..."
