The voice, filled with terror and fear, brought both of them back to their senses.
The crown prince's expression tightened, and he quickly pulled Song Xibai out the door.
Immediately afterwards, the two saw a man rush in from the front, his face pale. He stumbled to the Crown Prince and knelt down with a thud.
"What happened?"
The Crown Prince frowned and asked.
Song Xibai was startled by his appearance.
"Are you poisoned?"
The man kowtowed twice, saying, "Master, the kitchen just finished preparing lunch, and we were eating when suddenly everyone foamed at the mouth and collapsed."
The crown prince's expression changed drastically.
"Poisoning? Who could have done it? Who would poison someone here?"
The Crown Prince gripped Song Xibai tightly with one hand, the veins on the back of his hand bulging, looking somewhat like a servant.
He had just been thinking that the estate was safer than the Eastern Palace, but he didn't expect something to happen so quickly. Where exactly did things go wrong? Could it be that even the secret guards had been infiltrated?
The crown prince suddenly thought of many things.
Song Xibai, however, was concerned with something else entirely.
"You said everyone was foaming at the mouth. Besides that, are there any other symptoms? Why didn't you collapse?"
"I only had time to drink a sip of soup, I haven't even started eating yet..."
His words were jumbled up, but at least he managed to explain things clearly.
Originally, the people on this estate would go home to eat, but because of the arrival of the Crown Prince and Song Xibai, the head of the estate hired many people to work. With so many people, meals had to be taken in shifts. These dozen or so people were the first to eat, while Eunuch Feng and the accompanying guards ate after their masters had finished.
The two women who cooked for them were honest and law-abiding villagers who would never poison anyone.
