Chapter 35
Unlike other academies, Magic Fishing Academy has three systems and three websites: the official website, the external network, and the internal network.
The official website functions the same as other colleges, promoting enrollment and receiving praise and applause upon clicking. The external website is open to faculty and staff of Magic Fishing Academy, but it also has separate windows for each class. Class teachers and substitute teachers can see the basic information of their students. The office is another small window where colleagues can also see each other's basic information.
The so-called basic information is only name, age, job title and contact information. Home address and family members can only be viewed after applying for permission.
The intranet, on the other hand, is a website accessible only to administrators. It records in more detail an individual's family relationships, address, resume, as well as three assessment sections: talent, physical fitness, and cultural background, and their most recent medical examination report.
Even with such meticulous planning, the Magic Fishing Academy remains a mixed bag.
Chi Xia has two classes today, the first and the last. In between, she needs to handle the process of managing Lin Keli's account.
During class time, when there were only a few people left in the office, she logged into the intranet again and retrieved Director Ma's personal information. His resume was clear and complete, but his home address, family members, and even the sections on talent, physical ability, and culture were hidden and encrypted.
Or perhaps Lin Keli's account doesn't have enough permissions.
She recalled her resume when she applied for the job and the brief personal information she provided when she started working, and began to question the authenticity of this information.
With such a huge oversight, it wouldn't be surprising if anyone infiltrated the Demon Fishing Academy.
Furthermore, if someone intends to conceal their information, there are countless methods they can use; they can falsify resumes and fabricate professions. Without a professional research team, it's very difficult to verify.
If these systems are detailed but not rigorous, what is their purpose?
Or is there some hidden information?
Chi Xia clicked on Ye Feng's personal information and was surprised to find that Ye Feng's father, Yu Zhi'ang, was the District Chief of the New Territories; and his mother, Ruan Ling, was the Chairman of the New Territories Chamber of Commerce. Their contact information and work addresses were clear and complete.
Ye Feng's kindergarten grades, teachers' contact information, honors, and special skills were all clearly recorded and documented. If there was anything to hide, it was probably Ye Feng's talent.
This is simply unreasonable!
The students' information is detailed down to the last hair, while the teachers' information is suspected of being falsified and has room for concealment.
Chi Xia then clicked on Cheng Mo's profile. His father, Cheng Songchuan, was the Deputy District Chief of the New Territories; his mother, Wen Xin, was the Vice Chairman of the New Territories Chamber of Commerce. Looking at the titles of their parents, it was no wonder that the two of them were tied together like conjoined twins.
Feng Xiao's father is the mayor of Xinshi City, and her mother is a first-class gold medal artist.
After watching, Chi Xia briefly questioned the meaning of life. These children were born standing on the shoulders of the masses. They were arrogant and looked down on everyone. Apart from their talents, they seemed to have no weaknesses.
For the first time, Chi Xia felt grateful that the fairness of God was questionable. She had been drenched in acid rain all the way, while others were showered with sweet dew!
Although it's unclear why the information records of the teacher and student differ so greatly, Ye Feng's easy question—betting correctly on President Feng's illegitimate son—will have the Yu family as a safety net. Coincidentally, Xin Ran isn't here today, so Chi Xia is preparing to win this reward.
"bite!"
The bell rang, signaling the teachers' imminent return. Chi Xia closed her personal information window on the intranet and began the approval process.
"Want to go hiking this weekend?"
"I'm exhausted, I'm not going, I want to go back to the old house."
"Oh, your mom's making you go on another blind date?"
"No, it's my mom's birthday, and the whole family was called back."
"Oh, so you're going to be a tool again."
Cheng Yang smiled bitterly and said, "If you can't speak properly, then don't speak."
Anna laughed freely and unrestrainedly, "Seriously, take me with you, and I'll play your girlfriend. You just need to pay."
Cheng Yang was skeptical. "How much do you want?"
Anna waved her hand. "This number."
"Why don't you just rob someone? Five hundred thousand? That's almost my annual salary."
"Oh, so you, the young master of the Cheng family, are pretending to be poor? You care about a teacher's meager salary? Your family's annual dividends are more than just a fraction of that amount."
Cheng Yang and Anna came in chatting and laughing. They were the homeroom teachers of Class 5 and Class 6, respectively. They lived on the same floor and attended the same class, so they came back together after class.
Cheng Yang looked up and saw Chi Xia busy at Lin Keli's workstation. He walked over and asked, "Xia, are you busy?"
Chi Xia stopped, turned around and smiled, "Is there something you need, Teacher Cheng?"
Although Cheng Yang rejected Anna's invitation, he thought her suggestion to have a girlfriend attend his mother's birthday party was quite good. "Are you free this Saturday?"
Anna had just put down her textbook when she walked over with a smile, putting her hand on Cheng Yang's shoulder. "You just rejected me, and you're already inviting Xia right in front of me. You're really something."
Cheng Yang removed her hand, which was adorned with a large gold bracelet. "You've been on so many blind dates. It'll be so awkward if you run into someone you know tomorrow. Xia Wenjing, if you're going to find someone, at least find someone decent."
Anna laughed and whispered to Chi Xia, "Hurry up and name your price, our Young Master Cheng has plenty of money."
Cheng Yang: "Don't talk nonsense, you'll scare Xia."
Anna: "Oh, what's so hard about admitting this? It's no secret that the Cheng family is rich and powerful. But Xia is your nephew's homeroom teacher. Won't this give you away?"
Chi Xia: "..."
Cheng Yang's nephew?
Chi Xia remembered that Cheng Yang's personal information was the most complete, including when he graduated from studying abroad, his awards, and his published papers, but for family members, he only filled in his mother.
The surname is Cheng, could it be... that doesn't have to be such a coincidence!
Cheng Yang laughed, "Teacher Xia, please help me out. My mom is pressuring me so much that I'm the only single one in the family. They're comparing me to Xiao Mo, saying that my nephew might already be in a relationship while I'm still single. Doesn't that sound insulting?"
No wonder Cheng Mo suddenly asked in class if I wanted to visit his home. At this critical moment, he wanted his parents to invite him to his grandmother's birthday party.
Am I some kind of hot commodity?
Everyone treats me so well at their birthday parties.
Cheng Yang's background is so strong that it completely eliminates the possibility of him being an informant. The Cheng family members live in the open, and their every move is watched by countless people. If they want to become assassins, they would have to "die and be reborn" and live in anonymity.
Since their identities are public, frequent visits aren't necessarily a bad thing. In order to deal with those potential threats more safely and be seen by more people, it's actually a way to save themselves. They won't just be killed quietly in some unknown alley.
Chi Xia thought for a moment, "I can't confirm the time yet, can I give you an answer tonight?"
Cheng Yang smiled and said, "That's great! I'll wait for your news."
At lunchtime, Cheng Yang and Anna took Xin Ran and Chi Xia to the cafeteria together. The four of them sat at a table, which was just right. Cheng Yang was very easygoing and did not stand out because of his family background. No wonder, they never compared him to Cheng Mo. In terms of appearance and personality, the uncle and nephew were completely different.
Chi Xia observed that Cheng Yang and Anna seemed to have known each other for a long time, and the two joked and teased each other without giving each other any room to maneuver.
"You probably prefer men. With your family background, you could have any kind of son or daughter you wanted."
"You're so lively and pretty, but you haven't found anyone yet. Who can say for sure about fate? Isn't that right, Teacher Xin?"
Xin Ran lowered his head and ate his rice. Upon hearing this, he smiled faintly and said, "Yes."
Anna looked at Xin Ran, this handsome young man who looked so fresh and youthful was really pleasing to the eye. "Teacher Xin, do you have a girlfriend? If not, let's team up. A relationship between an older woman and a younger man is very sweet, trust me."
Xin Ran smiled brightly, "I believe in Sister Nana, but I'm too poor to afford a relationship."
Chi Xia ate her rice silently, saying little. This wasn't the first time she had witnessed Xin Ran's readily available lies.
Cheng Yang: "Anna, please don't extend your evil clutches to the young men in the courtyard. Teacher Xin is so young and you've already corrupted her. It breaks my heart to see her like this. Please let her enjoy the beauty of youth."
Anna raised an eyebrow. "Ugh! I really don't like hearing that. It's fine for men to be ten or twenty years older than women, but how is it considered a poisonous influence when women are older than men? Right, Xia?"
Chi Xia nodded, "Yes."
Xin Ran suppressed a laugh and gently nudged Chi Xia's arm under the table. Chi Xia returned the favor by nudging Xin Ran back.
The two were oblivious to the anxiety of the two middle-aged men opposite them as they tried to find companions; the two men in their early twenties only had a thirst for truth.
Anna suddenly thought of something, "Do you think the plan to cultivate a new kind of human will be implemented?"
Cheng Yang chewed his food and said casually, "No. It's just a trick to urge people to get married. The world's population is decreasing every year, and the number of people who don't marry or have children is growing rapidly. Since policies can't force people to marry and have children, they can only come up with a plan to cultivate a new generation to carry on civilization."
Anna turned to Cheng Yang and said, "That's true, but the 'personal income tax' has been raised again. This is going to kill single people."
Cheng Yang: "My mom always brings this up with me. The legal age for paying individual income tax is 30. I just barely crossed the line last year. Every tax payment day is a disaster day when my mom forces me to get married. But I'm okay. I can just go home less often. If you really don't want to pay, then find someone to marry and have children."
Anna frowned, holding her chopsticks. "You don't understand. How could you people at the top of the food chain understand? When you get married and have children, you have a fortune to inherit. The birth of a child represents power and wealth. But for us ordinary people, getting married and having children means emptying our savings and struggling to make ends meet."
Cheng Yang laughed, "Come on, the marriage and childbirth rewards are enough for your whole family to receive until retirement. Social resources are so abundant, and the welfare benefits are unprecedented. There is no burden in marriage and childbirth; it is purely a personal choice."
Anna scoffed, "I can't be bothered with someone like you who belongs to the propertied class."
Ordinary people do discuss these livelihood issues during their leisure time. Chi Xia observed Anna carefully and found that Anna's worldliness was even stronger than Xin Ran's, and it didn't seem like she was faking it.
In the afternoon, after Xin Ran finished his second-to-last class, the day's classes were over. As planned, he quietly left the office while everyone was still chatting noisily.
After finishing her work for the day, Chi Xia waited until the last class was over. After school, she went back to her office, grabbed her car keys, and went down to the underground parking garage to prepare for a home visit to the Feng family.
"Bang bang!"
Just as Chi Xia was about to unlock the door, a car nearby suddenly made two noises. When the window rolled down, Ye Feng's handsome face was revealed.
"A home visit? Let's go together. I also need to see Mr. Feng about something."
Chi Xia noticed that Ye Feng had changed into his school uniform and was wearing a white shirt, deliberately shedding his student image. Chi Xia walked over, opened the passenger door, and got in.
Ye Feng watched her fasten her seatbelt. "You're on the intranet now?"
Chi Xia paused, turned to look at him, and saw that the boy's originally light-colored eyes had darkened.
As the car drove off, Ye Feng asked, "Is there anything you want to ask?"
