Chapter 36
"Brother, can you help me greet the teacher later?"
"I have a meeting in a little while, I don't know how long it will last. My parents have had enough of entertaining me."
The boy held the edge of his shirt, fiddling with the seam. Hearing his brother's refusal, he didn't pester him but also didn't leave.
Seeing that the man in the suit and tie hadn't moved, he looked up from his computer and at the boy at the table. "Is there anything else?"
The boy in the white and blue school uniform had very fair skin, making the tips of his ears appear bright red as if they were about to bleed. He kept his head down, so no one could see his expression.
The man frowned, raised his hand and tapped on the edge of the table in front of the boy. "Speak."
The boy looked up, his lips pressed tightly together, "Brother..."
Seeing that his eyes were red and moist, the man sighed, "I understand. You can go now. I'll come down from the meeting as soon as possible."
The boy immediately beamed, "Okay, bro."
The boy turned and ran away after he finished speaking. The man felt powerless. This was no younger brother; he was a monster.
The boy, pleased with his request, ran downstairs and walked towards the man reading a newspaper on the sofa. "Dad, where's Mom?"
Hearing the noise, the man, nearing fifty, stopped reading his newspaper, took off his gold-rimmed glasses, and placed them on the table beside him. "You're busy preparing dinner in the kitchen. Where are your two older brothers?"
The boy sat down next to the man, playing with his fingers and pouting, "He went to play with his classmates and said he wouldn't be back for dinner tonight. They never take me with them and don't like me as their younger brother."
The man's frowning gesture was very similar to that of his son who was having a meeting in the study upstairs. He put his arm around the boy's shoulder and said, "A-Yue, your homeroom teacher has arranged to come for a home visit. No one can take you out to mess around today. This has nothing to do with whether your older brothers like you or not."
As he spoke, the man pinched his soft little face, "You're the most cunning one in the whole family. From now on, Dad doesn't want to hear anything that's detrimental to family harmony. Can you keep that promise?"
The boy pouted and said, "Oh."
Seeing his adorable appearance, the old father smiled and said, "It's almost time. Go to the door and see if your teacher has arrived yet."
The boy stood up. "Okay."
Before leaving, he grabbed a bright red strawberry from the table, humming a little tune as he went out. But once he got to the yard, he changed his tune. He gnawed on the strawberry, deliberately smearing strawberry juice all over his mouth and then smearing it on his school uniform collar.
The boy stood at the entrance for two or three minutes. A black, high-spec amphibious sports car drove into the intersection. The boy, who had been nonchalant, straightened up and put on a polite smile after seeing the license plate.
Ye Feng lowered the car window, and Chi Xia could see her students waiting at the door from afar.
The boy stepped forward a few paces and said, "Brother Feng, teacher."
Chi Xia frowned slightly as she looked at his dirty face and collar. Ye Feng stopped the car and pointed to his own face and collar at the boy, "Performing a live swallowing act?"
The boy smiled and said, "I ate too fast and accidentally spilled it."
The boy led the two to park the car and stood respectfully to the side waiting for them to get out. He didn't ask Ye Feng why he came with Chi Xia, and led the two into the courtyard.
The Feng family's mansion is relatively down-to-earth, not located in the suburbs, and its area is not exaggerated. It is situated at the entrance of the most beautiful tree-lined avenue on the Second Ring Road, with a private entrance and a solid, hardcore layout.
The boy came out to meet them because he was afraid that the gatekeeper wouldn't let ordinary vehicles through, but little did he know that the person was brought by Ye Feng.
Does the teacher have any dietary restrictions?
Chi Xia: "No."
Ye Feng: "Tong Yue, aren't you going to ask me anything?"
The boy was one of President Feng's three illegitimate sons, the youngest, and assigned to Class 3. He wasn't as obsequious to Ye Feng as the others, but he was still very respectful to Ye Feng. "My chef remembers all of Brother Feng's dietary restrictions. My mom will make proper arrangements, and you'll definitely be satisfied."
Walking through the front yard, Ye Feng looked at his obedient appearance and laughed, "Your two older brothers both call Madam Feng 'Auntie,' but you call her 'Mom.' You're really something."
These words could be considered a provocation. Chi Xia turned her head and saw that Tong Yue's expression was normal and his smile was still polite. "My brother is very good to me, and Madam Feng has not mistreated me either. My brother's mother is naturally my mother as well."
Chi Xia could recall her first impression of Tong Yue. He was one of those who used a textbook to block out the light and wore holographic glasses to watch anatomy videos. The videos were as bloody as the torture of slow slicing. Even Chi Xia, a third-ranked assassin, found them appalling.
The gentle and obedient boy in front of him was watching with great interest.
Chi Xia: "Is your brother here today too?"
Tong Yue's eyes lit up when he heard his brother mentioned. "Yes, he'll come down as soon as his meeting is over."
Chi Xia had a strange feeling. Ye Feng curled the corners of his lips, put his hands in his pockets, and stepped into the Feng family's living room first.
Just then, President Feng stood up and saw Ye Feng smiling as he came out to greet him. "Feng is here too. I'll go to the kitchen and ask your aunt to prepare a few more of your favorite dishes."
Ye Feng grasped the hand that President Feng extended, "Uncle Feng, you're too kind. Unregistered vehicles can't enter here. I'm just accompanying my homeroom teacher and grabbing a meal here. No need to trouble yourself."
Mr. Feng smiled and said, "Don't mention it, it's no trouble at all. This must be Ms. Chi, A-Yue's homeroom teacher, right? Hello, I'm Tong Yue's father."
After exchanging greetings, President Feng led everyone to the restaurant, where they began their meal. When Madam Feng came out, she greeted Ye Feng warmly once again. Chi Xia already knew that the Yu family was the Feng family's savior, and Ye Feng was always an honored guest, no matter when he came.
Boss Feng: "Ah Yue, go upstairs... what happened to your mouth?"
Tong Yue smiled dismissively, "It's from eating strawberries."
President Feng smiled awkwardly and looked at Chi Xia, "Teacher Chi, you flatter me. This child has always been troublesome since he was little, and his mother and I have spoiled him."
Chi Xia: "It's okay."
People who have died once are either very ferocious or extremely kind-looking. Madam Feng belongs to the latter. "Go upstairs, wash your face and change your clothes, and call your brother down for dinner."
Tong Yue: "My mom and brother were in a meeting, so I brought them food upstairs, then washed my face, changed my clothes, and came downstairs."
Madam Feng nodded. "Go ahead. Come on, Ah Feng, Teacher Xiao Chi, have some food."
While President Feng and Ye Feng were talking, Chi Xia observed Tong Yue discreetly. He excitedly went to the kitchen to tinker, then carried a large plate upstairs. The smile on his face was no longer the well-trained and proper one, but an uncontrollable joy.
The eeriness intensifies; what a complicated family.
Chi Xia lowered her head and drank her soup. Madam Feng kept serving her food and asked her if she was used to the taste. Chi Xia gave a brief reply.
Tong Yue left and didn't come down for half a day.
Aside from Tong Yue, there are two illegitimate children who are not yet married. The family seems very harmonious, with no grudges between the husband and wife, and they treat each other with respect.
It's likely that all three mistresses died, while the wife survived and even gained three sons, fulfilling the old saying, "Those who survive a great calamity are destined for good fortune."
While the group was drinking and chatting, Tong Yue came downstairs, wearing a clean shirt, but the size was too big and the style wasn't like that of a child his age.
Chi Xia was staring intently when Madam Feng sighed, "Why are you wearing your brother's clothes again? You're making yourself look old."
Tong Yue laughed, "I'm too lazy to go back to my room to change. I like my brother's clothes."
Chi Xia couldn't help but look for Ye Feng's gaze, wanting to know what he thought. Ye Feng seemed to know she would look, blinked, and lightly patted his knee.
Chi Xia naturally looked away and continued their dry conversation when a slight noise came from the stairs.
"Brother!" Tong Yue stood up and called out happily.
Everyone looked up and saw a handsome, tall man walk out of the corridor and gracefully descend the stairs.
When President Feng looked at the man, his eyes were full of pride. "Teacher Xia, that's my eldest son, Feng Xu."
Chi Xia nodded politely.
Tong Yue: "Brother, sit next to me."
Feng Xu walked over, his imposing presence immediately captivating the audience. "Ah Feng, you're here too."
Ye Feng smiled faintly, "Brother Xu, it's been a long time."
Tong Yue pointed at Chi Xia, "Brother, this is my homeroom teacher, Ms. Chi Xia."
Feng Xu looked at Chi Xia and said, "Hello."
Chi Xia: "Hello."
The relaxed and casual atmosphere in the living room changed after Feng Xu appeared. Tong Yue only had eyes for his brother, sitting next to him like a little sun.
Mr. and Mrs. Feng drank tea, which tamed more than half of the conversation.
Feng Xu seemed used to it. He looked at Chi Xia and asked, "How is A-Yue doing at school?"
Chi Xia glanced at Tong Yue subconsciously. The other party made a pleading expression, clearly not wanting to leave a bad impression on his brother. Chi Xia looked back at Feng Xu, the domineering CEO in his thirties, calm and reserved, with an imposing presence. The oppressive feeling of a superior was tangible at this moment.
"It's slowly getting better."
Feng Xu: "How was it before?"
Chi Xia: "You should have seen that just now."
Feng Xu frowned slightly and turned to look at Tong Yue, "Next time, don't get your face and clothes so dirty."
Tong Yue nodded dejectedly, "Okay, brother."
Madam Feng smiled, trying to ease the tension, "A-Yue listens to his brother the most. When he first arrived, he only talked to his brother."
Chi Xia was somewhat surprised; this meant they didn't intend to hide Tong Yue's true identity.
Madam Feng: "I'm sure you already know, Teacher, that Tong Yue isn't my son, but I've never mistreated him since he came to this family, and his brother has always doted on him. We are able to live a peaceful life now thanks to the Yu family's great kindness, which we will never forget. Since you were brought here by A-Feng, you are one of us. So, I'll get straight to the point: Teacher, is there any way to help A-Yue awaken his talent?"
Chi Xia: "The weight of talent in the score has decreased, so the impact of having talent is not as serious as before. President Feng should be aware of this."
In front of the former dean, Chi Xia didn't want to show off her limited skills. If even the dean couldn't awaken her son's talent, how could she, a homeroom teacher who had switched careers, dare to wield such expertise?
President Feng nodded and smiled, without saying anything.
Feng Xu stood up. "Teacher Chi, may I speak to you in private?"
Tong Yue stood up as well, "Brother?"
Feng Xu: "Sit down properly."
Even though Tong Yue was unwilling, he still sat down.
Chi Xia looked at Ye Feng, who nodded, and she got up to follow Feng Xu upstairs. When she turned around, she saw that President Feng and Ye Feng had also gotten up. The two of them did indeed have a lot to talk about regarding the Magic Fishing Academy.
Feng Xu led Chi Xia to Tong Yue's room and unlocked the cubicle door with his fingerprint.
Looking at the dazzling array of paintings, Chi Xia asked, "Did Tong Yue paint these?"
Feng Xu nodded, then he took all the paintings off the ground, turned them over, and Chi Xia was shocked when she saw the pattern on the back.
Feng Xu looked up, "Do you... have any way to help me save my brother?"
