Chapter 10 Father and Daughter Meet

Chapter 10 Father and Daughter Meet

Shu Yu was momentarily speechless. Although they were indeed quite poor, it shouldn't be this bad.

Sanya said, "Moreover, my third uncle's house is right across the street. My grandma said that my third uncle squats at the door every day, so not many people usually walk this way."

Because my third uncle loved to take advantage of others, people in the village would avoid him whenever they saw him.

Shu Yu raised an eyebrow and was speaking when a commotion came from outside.

Sanya was overjoyed and slid off the stool. "It must be my dad coming back."

She ran outside as she spoke, and Shu Yu also stood up and walked towards the door.

Before he even reached the door, a woman's voice, high-pitched and somewhat shrill, rang out from outside: "I told you to stay home, but you wouldn't listen! Your wife and I are in the fields, why did you go and cause trouble? Now look what's happened! Your legs were already weak, and now you've fallen. Do you not want your legs anymore? Let me tell you, there's no money left for your medical treatment. If your legs are completely ruined, you can just stay home and wait to die. I don't care about you anymore."

"Mom, I'm sorry. I just felt much better today and thought I'd go help." The man's honest yet hoarse voice followed, filled with deep apology. "I didn't expect to cause you even more trouble."

"Help? Help what? Just staying home quietly is the biggest help you can give me. I must have had the worst luck in eight lifetimes to have given birth to a troublesome child like you." The old woman's voice grew louder and louder, her curses becoming more and more unrestrained. "You and your wife are a match made in heaven, one a troublemaker, the other a jinx, neither of you is easy to deal with. I'm so old, and I still have to take care of you. Look at our village, who else is like us..."

She kept grumbling and cursing, and Sanya, who ran out to talk, couldn't find a chance to speak.

After finally getting her to speak, the old woman turned to Sanya and said, "Get out of the way! Can't you see your father is all hurt? You're still running around blocking the way. You're such a grown man, and you don't know any better."

The old woman was very fierce. Sanya was timid and shrank her neck, whispering, "Grandma, we have guests at home."

After saying that, he ran behind his parents and hid.

"Guests? What guests? Our family is in such a state, even your uncles don't come to visit, what kind of guests could we have?" The old woman replied subconsciously, then suddenly slapped her thigh as if she had just realized something. "Oh dear, could they be here to collect a debt? I was wondering why my eyelids had been twitching all day."

Sanya quickly shook her head, "No, no, my sister said she came to thank Father, not to collect a debt."

"What are you thanking me for? Your dad has something to thank me for? You little brat, have you been fooled? Where is he? Did you bring him in?"

The old woman glared at Sanya and said, "How dare you bring just anyone home?"

Then, when I looked up, I saw Shu Yu standing at the entrance of the main room.

Shu Yu and the old woman's eyes met. Standing by the door, Shu Yu was unsure whether she should go out or not.

The old woman's gaze immediately became alert. She had been supporting Lu Erbai, but now she stepped forward slightly, blocking half of Lu Erbai's body.

Lu Erbai had been silenced by her scolding and kept his head down. When he heard Sanya say that guests had arrived, he also raised his head and looked at Shuyu.

Shu Yu was stunned when she saw his face clearly.
