Chapter 11 The Truth About the Debt

Chapter 11 The Truth About the Debt

"It's you??"

The moment Shu Yu saw Lu Erbai's appearance, she finally understood what the abbot of Dongqing Temple meant in the letter he wrote to her.

She was indeed in debt.

It wasn't a debt owed to the original owner of her life, but rather a debt she herself owed for saving her life.

A year ago, she was transported to this world because the original owner of this body fell off a cliff.

She had just woken up and was hanging on the hillside, covered in injuries and unable to move. Lu Erbai happened to be passing by, saw her condition, and quickly climbed up to rescue her.

As they were descending the mountain, a large rock rolled down, and Lu Erbai, with her in tow, had no chance to escape. When the rock came crashing down, he pushed her aside, but he himself was hit squarely by it.

His leg was broken at that time.

Shu Yu had just transmigrated and didn't understand the situation. But Lu Erbai's actions shocked her greatly.

She was puzzled; if he had simply abandoned her, he could have saved himself.

Lu Erbai himself didn't know why he did it, only saying that it was a subconscious action.

Looking back now, it seems the bond between father and daughter was too strong, perhaps due to the deep connection of blood.

Later, both of them fainted and were taken back by people from the Taoist temple who came looking for her.

When Shu Yu woke up, the first thing she did was ask about Lu Erbai's condition. The abbot said that the two of them were lucky, as there happened to be a skilled itinerant doctor in the temple, and neither of them was in mortal danger.

Even Lu Erbai's leg has been reattached, but he needs to rest for a while.

Shu Yu's injuries were quite serious; she was in a daze and spent most of her time in a coma. Although she wanted to visit Lu Erbai, she couldn't get up and could only wait until she recovered to express her gratitude.

By then, all the Shu family members who had come to offer incense had left, leaving only Shu Yu and a lazy, sluggish maidservant to help her recover from her injuries.

Shu Yu was not valued in the Shu family. Before leaving, the Shu family didn't even send anyone to see Lu Erbai, nor did they take his saving of the Shu family's young lady to heart. To the Shu family, he was just an ordinary citizen, not in any danger of death, and not worth their time.

Shu Yu didn't care; it was her fate, and she would thank the abbess herself. When she was lucid, she gave the abbess the only money she had on her and asked her to send it over. As for the rest, she would deal with it when she could get out of bed.

Who knew that less than two days later, the abbot came to tell him that Lu Erbai had left.

It is said that Lu Erbai has a missing daughter and has been searching for her all these years. He appeared near Dongqing Temple to rescue her because he heard that his daughter might be there.

He had already delayed for several days after rescuing Shu Yu, and fearing that he might miss any clues about his daughter, he couldn't wait to leave the Taoist temple and go down the mountain.

Shu Yu only knew that his surname was Lu, but he didn't know his given name, and that his home was not in the prefectural city.

She wanted to find him, but had no clue where to start.

The abbot of Dongqing Temple didn't know much either, only that his leg bone had been set and that if he took good care of himself, there shouldn't be any major problems.

But now, when Shu Yu looked at Lu Erbai again, it was clear that his leg had developed a chronic condition that had not only not improved but had become more serious.

The abbot of Dongqing Temple was skilled in physiognomy. Perhaps he became suspicious after looking at her and Lu Erbai's faces and investigated, which is how he found out who her biological parents were.

With many of her doubts answered, Shu Yu took a deep breath and walked towards the group of people in the courtyard.
