Chapter 28 Lu Dasong
Before Lu Dasong could even enter, Granny Ruan in the courtyard had already reacted and rushed to Shu Yu's side in a few steps.
Shu Yu thought she was about to start cursing, but to her surprise, Granny Ruan smiled at her and said, "You must be Miss Shu, right? It's a misunderstanding, this really is Er Ya. Miss Shu, please let her go and we can talk things out."
Shu Yu turned her head suspiciously, "You know me?"
"I know, I know. Didn't I hear that a benefactor came to the Lu family? He took my son-in-law to the county town to treat his leg early this morning. Oh my, my daughter's suffering has finally come to an end. Look, with your help, we've found our long-lost daughter again. The good days are just around the corner."
Shu Yu finally understood why Granny Ruan had come here.
So that's what he was after.
The Lu family doesn't come when they're broke, but now that they've heard their luck might be turning around, they immediately bring an imposter here to try and build a good relationship with their in-laws.
Granny Ruan grinned so much her face was so wrinkled it could trap flies. "Miss Shu, how's my son-in-law's leg? Why haven't I seen him and his mother come back?"
"What does it matter to you whether they come back or not?" The person in front of her was the culprit who stole Er Ya and sold her to the Shu family back then. The more Shu Yu looked at her, the more disgusted she became. "You better get out of here with your imposter, or don't blame me for being impolite."
"You..." Granny Ruan was caught off guard by her sudden lack of respect, and the smile on her face could not be maintained at all.
The girl on the ground had already gotten up. Having witnessed Shu Yu's methods, she didn't dare to pounce on him again this time.
But she still hid behind Granny Ruan and shouted, "Are you sick in the head? This is our family business, what right do you, an outsider, have to interfere? I don't know you, what right do you have to say I'm an imposter? This is my home, you're the one who should get out."
"Yes, Miss Shu, you're an outsider and don't know anything about Er Ya's situation. What gives you the right to say such things? My daughter has finally found her child. Since you're a guest of the Lu family, you should offer your blessings and give her a small gift. But instead, you not only call her an imposter, you even hit her. That's just not right anywhere."
Granny Ruan stopped pretending and loudly echoed her.
She then turned to the villagers outside the courtyard and said, "Everyone, come and judge for yourselves. Tell me, is the mother less knowledgeable than an outsider like her? My daughter hasn't said anything, yet she's acting like she's in charge here, hitting and scolding me, and even being rude to me, her legitimate in-law. Anyone who didn't know better would think you're the mistress of the Lu family, wouldn't they?"
The villagers looked at each other, realizing that Granny Ruan's words contained a great deal of information.
Could it be that this outsider, Miss Shu, has taken a fancy to Lu Erbai, who is old, poor, and lame?
Impossible, impossible, impossible.
Everyone quickly shook their heads, but Lu Dasong couldn't stand it anymore. He walked in from outside and glared at Granny Ruan. "I think you're the one talking nonsense. With what you did back then, do you really think you could kindly bring Er Ya back? I think Miss Shu's words make some sense."
Granny Ruan wasn't afraid of Lu Dasong, and immediately sneered, "Oh, you think? You know Miss Shu? Are you close? Or do you have some shady relationship? She has no evidence at all to say that Er Ya is an imposter, what a load of nonsense."
