Chapter 6: Aren't my skills pretty good?

"My technique is pretty good, right? As long as you control the force, this is a piece of cake," the cat said.

That's some impressive technical skill!

After much patience, Jiu Yebai was unwilling to dwell on this shameful topic and instead asked, "What are you doing here?"

The cat rubbed its belly. "Oh, I'm hungry."

Jiu Yebai took a deep breath. "If you're hungry, why don't you just have the servants cook? Why are you asking me?"

The cat didn't speak, it just stared at Jiu Yebai.

After a while, Jiu Yebai grabbed his shirt, roughly put it on, and went downstairs. "Prepare the meal!"

The servant did not hesitate and immediately complied.

Half an hour later, at the restaurant.

The cat frowned deeply at the sight of the six dishes and soup, gripping a pair of chopsticks and refusing to move.

"Gurgle gurgle—"

A slightly comical sound came from her stomach. Cat was so hungry that she felt dizzy. She then realized that she hadn't eaten anything since the IV drip was removed that morning, which was really suicidal for a patient with injuries.

"Why aren't you eating?" If he wasn't mistaken, Jiu Xintian looked disgusted.

“You eat it,” the cat said.

"What's wrong with me?" Jiu Yebai said, eating each dish on the table one by one and drinking a bowl of chicken soup. "You want me to test for poison, huh? Can I eat it now?"

The cat tentatively picked up a piece of green vegetable, chewed it, and tasted a familiar yet unfamiliar flavor. Familiar because of the body's memory, unfamiliar because she herself felt it was strange.

She had never tasted the flavors of life...

Suddenly, the cat stared at Jiu Yebai, her clear, autumn-like eyes revealing a deep, mysterious depth.

Jiu Yebai suddenly shivered, feeling a chilling wind that cut to the bone. The sweltering heat of summer suddenly turned into a cold, and a sense of dread rose up within him.

"Serve me some soup," the cat said.

Jiu Yebai instinctively and quickly ladled out the soup and placed it in front of her.

The cat buried its head in its soup.

When that gaze shifted away, Jiu Yebai felt the warmth return to his body, only to realize that he was covered in a cold sweat again!

What the hell? Why did he feel like Jiu Xintian was trying to eat him?

Today was truly a dream! Was my posture wrong when I got out of bed this morning?

Apart from that one bite of green vegetables, Maomao didn't touch her chopsticks again. While she was drinking her fifth bowl of chicken soup, Jiu Yebai received a phone call.

"Hey, bro... What? It's not appropriate for me to go, is it?... Okay, I understand."

He had just hung up the phone when he looked up and saw the empty bowl being handed to him again, and those dark eyes were looking at him.

Jiu Yebai twitched his lips, stood up to ladle soup, and said, "It's the old lady of the Mu family's 80th birthday today. My eldest brother is in Munich and can't come back, so he asked me to go to celebrate her birthday on his behalf tonight, and also... apologize to you."
